*SPOILERS* We could've had another 1986 *SPOILERS*

I was just considering something. A lot of people complained about Bumblebee not dying, but he's the fan favorite of this generation.

In the 1980s, Optimus was the fan favorite. When he died kids locked themselves in their rooms, parents wrote angry letters, etc.

The uproar of a possible death of Bumblebee would be similar, but could it be worse, I can only imagine what would happen. :-?

There were at least a few in the "Sad Moments" thread that were sad that he didn't die.

I probably would have gotten up out of my seat at that point and left the theater.

There are some things you just don't do in the movies. Killing Bumblebee or Sam would be the worst thing they could do.

I might have cried had they killed Bumblebee. It was hard enough thinking he might die.

I was shocked enough when Ironhide died, so I probably would've fainted if Bumblebee died. That would've been too sad. Like someone already said, I would have gotten out of my seat and left the theater. You just can't kill Bumblebee. That's going too far.

Yeah, I think I would have really been upset. I was getting worried, there.

who dosnt like bumblebee! he may not be my fav character but little kids all around the world would cry there eyes out. He is an iconic character and if he died transformers wouldnt be as funny anymore. Ironhide diying was bad enough for me espessaly when watching it in 3D . He was funny in the first film.

What I wish is they didn't overkill the whole reviving thing in ROTF, that way BB could've just been stabbed something, then at the end there's a scene with Ratchet, Prime and his matrix, and they bring back BB. And he looks over and smiles at Sam and it cuts to black

Soundwave said it best; Cries and screams are music to my ears. :CON:

I think he's a nice character, but he has sucked up merchandising from a lot of characters (I believe if there was no Leader Bumblebee, we would have a DOTM leader Megatron).

However, he seems to have never been put in any serious danger, the execution scene was the closest to a BB death we ever got. But even then I never once thought he would die. The point of this thread was to say I think Hasbro has learned from 1986 and the whole Prime incident, and I don't think they wanted to risk that with BB (regardless of how many memorial toys they could've sold).

Call it the cynic in me, or the "Geewunner" if you wish, but I doubt that Bayverse Bumblebee is anywhere close to the level that Prime occupied when he died in 1986. I would attribute this to the scant levels of characterization that he has received across the trilogy. Consequently I don't think his death would have had a major or lasting impact.

I'm also not of the belief that Hasbro has learned any kind of lesson, since I don't believe they had that level of creative control over the movie. In addition to which, there was no cause for Hasbro to kill off Bumblebee because the movies are over and the universe is on course for another reboot. This Bumblebee's role is over, without needing to be killed off to usher in new toys in the same world.

The new Bumblebee replacement will take over and the old one will simply remain stagnant, never growing and only seeing the light of day when they need to wheel out the old men to sell the nostalgia junk we all love so much.

All opinion of course.

I'm not saying he has the same value to fans of the original tv series. I'm saying he has that kind of value to the fans of this generation.

...And I'm saying he doesn't. Apologies if I didn't make that clear enough.

just the fact that some people, including myself, for a few seconds thought that they might actually kill him means that they got something right. that kind of emotion was definitely lacking in all the movies.

Except for that nasty incident with Sector 7 torturing him. Oh, and having his legs blown off by Starscream nearly right after that.

Tell that to my 10 year old nephew that wears Bumblebee pajamas to bed.

Okay, I'll tell him, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to set him back on the righteous path.
