I can't believe I'm saying this, that article got me a little... Misty-eyed. It was great! Optimus Prime is DEFINITELY the caricature of everyone's favorite "Big Brother" or "My dad can beat up your dad" figure. I hope the world learns that from this movie. And I think they will. In fact this may very well be the ONLY film of the Summer that actually lives up to the Hype...

Seibertron said it best my friends: "This time is ours".

Edit:
Kendragon, this IS the new Star Wars. I had a nice long conversation with one of my good (Non-TransFan) friends, and we came to the same conclusion! I am one of the biggest Star Wars nutbags in the known universe, and I am TWICE as excited about this film as I was for Episode III. Seriously! Socially, Transformers might even be a little more popular than Star Wars(That's a pretty crazy statement to make, but it may well be very true!).

Ahhhh... so THAT'S why Steven Speilburg was so passionate about the movie. I didn't think he was a big fan too.

Still, I don't agree about the writing of the show. It was average at the time, being little more than a vehicle for selling toys. It was the characters themselves that were interesting, and made it fun to watch.

"Megatron, on the other hand, the leader of the resource-plundering Decepticons, is practically the epitome of a bad parent — quick to anger, judgmental, cruel — which is why his second in command, the fighter jet Starscream, has always secretly plotted to usurp him.

A line from the cartoon that is repeated in the movie says it all: "When he says, 'Starscream, you have failed me again …' that's like the mantra heard from the bad father of every kid who ever struck out in baseball," DeSanto says."

I've never looked at Megatron that way before. Makes him seem even more evil, and like a bad father. Very cool read.

Man, that was DAMN good READ! I've always enjoyed SW, but as a TF fan I have always dreamed the day that TF would get the respect it desrves ala SW.

This is very true. Very, very true. I am glad someone else noticed it.

That was a great little article. Cullen's perspective and the comparison of leaders to parents was very interesting.

Excellent find!
