Motto: "Innocent!"
Weapon: Wrist-Launched Heat-Seeking Missiles
Autobots:

G1 Ultra Magnus

-Can't handle the pressures of leadership, and he knows it. See "I can't deal with that now", "I'm just a soldier, I'm not worthy." Hell, he practically had a nervous breakdown in the Marvel UK comics when beaten by Galvatron multiple times.

-Has zero charisma. He's great at giving commands, but he doesn't have the rallying power Op and even to an extent Rodimus had.

Decepticons:

G1 Megatron
-He let Starscream live/resurrected him HOW many times? I don't care how valuable an asset he was, there's no excuse for that kind of lenience.
-Mad as a hatter in the Marvel comics. Way to blow yourself up. **Applause**
"Innocent."

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
Autobots: G1 Rodimus Prime Cartoon version
1. He was way too whiney.
2. His greatest achievement was to bring Prime back to solve his problems.

Decepticons: G1 Megatron Cartoon version
1. He's lost every single battle he's ever fought.
2. He wasted too much time on weapons of the week instead of plotting a military campaign.

The worst Autobot leader is probably Wedge from R.I.D.'s build team. Man was he mopey.

The worst Decepticon leader, speaking solely in terms of being Decepticonesque, would be Shockwave when he did that whole "You're under arrest for crimes against Cybertron" thingy. Megatron must have been so disappointed.

Weapon: Automatic Acid-Pellet Gun
Worst leader award goes to STARSCREAM for all generations of Decepticons. He was horrific, didn't lead well enough or long enough to stay alive, he was pretty much a pissant on the bump between Megatron and Galvatron in the original generation. And during Gen 2 he had to be revived by reborn Megs and then proceeded to go whacked and be absorbed by a ship. Sorry he wins all forms of the WORST LEADER IN HISTORY

As far as Autobots go, the worst leader ever seen had to be... Well thats rather difficult to say because each leader had their quirks and had their successes. Rodimus was a character that NEVER GOT THE PROPER DEVELOPMENT in season 3. Towards the end, around the Episode Burden Hardest to Bear, he began to become a really good character... though by then it was too late to save the series. Of course they further ruined the series by revivng Optimus Prime who should have remained dead for the simple fact that bringing him back tore away all sorts of good story arcs that had been originally made out. Such as the introduction of the Wreckers and Mayhem Squadron featuring Shockwave. A battle between Rodimus and Shockwave would be something I would have paid for. As far as the bot's worst leader I'd have to give that dubious award to that pile of scrap Ultra Magnus. Guess what folks he was the first one to LOSE the matrix to Galvatron. And he died for it. He couldn't deal with things when they were of importance and he basically said it himself, he was no leader, only a soldier.

So before awards are handed out please keep in mind of ALL angles to each character please.

Worst two leaders:

Starscream for the decepticons.

For the autobots I would have to say Ultra Magnus. He always seemed he was way over his head when Bots like an Optimus, or Rodimus would eventually figure out the situation.

Worst Autobot\Maximal:

Optimus Primal. (Beast Machines)
1) He's a dirty hippie.
2) He's a dirty hippie.

Worst Decepticon\Predacon:

A tie between Starscream and Galvatron.

Starscream:
1) Dumb as a brick. Often tells Megatron to his face that he wishes to overthrow him, only to get his ass handed to him every time. Can't learn from mistakes. Under the impression that he's all that.
2) Incompetent - Starscream seems to screw up with just about everything.
3) Holds the record for the shortest term in Decepticon leadership.

Galvatron (post movie):
1) Bat-shit insane.
2) Oh, did I mention that he's TOTALLY INSANE?
3) Takes more potshots at his own men than the Autobots.
4) Totally unable to think of any strategy at all.
5) Loses even more battles now than he did as Megatron.
6) He drove the Decepticons into the ground. As Megatron, he conquered Cybertron, now he's ruler of a small rag-tag band living on a burnt out planet.

Looking over the results, I think Galvatron just barely beats ol' Screamer as the worst leader the Decepticons had.

Autobots: Ultra Magnus wasn't really a great leader; anyways it kinda fell on his shoulders unexpectedly...Silverbolt wasn't much to marvel at to begin with, either. I'll also say that Grimlock at the end of US comic series didn't really get the job done...lots of rash decisions got plenty of bots junked.

Decepticons: I'll agree that G1 Megs didn't have much to show for his efforts...He seemed to be more cunning in what they didn't show in the series (ie Cybertronian history stuff) and seemed to be just as bumbling as Starscream. He gets an A+ in effort, however, for never giving up.

For the Decepticons, it would have to be G1 Megatron. The main reason is that they are both not the sharpest knives in the drawer. I mean, G1 Megatron was always coming up with hare-brained schemes that nearly always blew up in his face. Granted, a few of them were good, but most of the time, they were ridiculous. Second, he let Starscream live. If I were G1 Megatron, I would have killed Starscream in "More than Meets the Eye."

As for the Autobots, I can't really decide who is the worst. However, I have noticed two annoying tendencies that nearly every Optimus shares. Every Optimus that interacted with humans let the kids on the battlefield. What kind of commander would allow civilians, let alone children, anywhere near the Decepticons? If that isn't idiocy, I don't know what is. A second aggravating tendency is that most Optimuses (yes, I know, that isn't a word. Spare me.) tend to be far too merciful to their Megatrons. If Megatron is the truly evil fiend that he is depicted as, then the only answer that an Optimus would have is to kill Megatron for the greater good of the universe. No Optimus seems to realize that until the end of the series. The only Optimuses that seem to realize this are G1 Optimus Prime (in the movie, as he's prepared to cap Megatron before Hot Rod intervenes) and Cybertron Optimus Prime, who killed Megatron when the tyrant challenged him.

BM Primal: If you're willing to wipe out all life on your entire planet for the sake of some outdated computer's hippie agenda, your time is better spent hugging trees and smoking weed than leading a group of freedom fighters.

RiD Megatron: Six modes and yet he can't last five seconds in a battle.

if it werent for his trailer parts (copter 1, submarine 4 etc.) and Wing Saber, his ass would have been grass in no time. He would be quite weak compared to Galvatron and Megatron, if it werent for those cheesy combining gimmicks Prime has.

If anything, Rodimus constantly underated his own abilities, saying he wasn't as good as Prime all the time, he over estimated himself as Hot Rod, but I don't remember him doing it as Rodimus.

For my picks

Autobots: Optimus Prime (Marvel Comics)
1)He had himself killed over a Computer game because he endangered some virtual life form. Single stupidest act by a Prime ever.
2)Was perhaps even more emo than Rodimus, constantly going into depression over casualties over what seemed to be anything and everything.

Predacons: RID Megatron
1) Rarely actually did anything, electing to laze around his base for the majority of episodes.
2) Chose perhaps the 4 most idiotic Predicons ever to accompany him to earth, though he redeemed himself with the creation of the Decepticons later on

Motto: "Your end shall justify my means."
Weapon: High-Energy Laser Rifle
AUTOBOTS: Rodimus Prime

1. Completely lack confidence in himself as a leader. He wanted to give up the position as Matrix Bearer. Got his a$$ handed to him by a Matrix-less Optimus Prime both times they brought OP back.

2. Used to be Hot Rod, who I blame for Optimus Prime's death. He should have known Optimus didn't need his help in fighting Megatron one on one. He should have listened to Kup.

Why its not Ultra Magnus: I highly doubt even Optimus wouldn't have been able to completely deal with Hot Rod and Kup buying the farm while he himself was being hunted down by Galvatron's Armada. He also stood up to Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps by himself to try and open the Matrix to save everyone, essentially sacraficing himself for everyone else. Plus he was a great field general and was put in a bad situation after Optimus was killed.

Decepticons: G1 Galvatron

1. Completely crazy. He can turn on his own troops. He thought everyone was against him.

2. For being an upgrade from Megatron, who could go toe to toe with Opimus, he couldn't even beat Rodimus, who was clearly a downgrade from Optimus.

Why it isn't G1 Megatron: While he lost his battles with Optimus, he was still a bada$$. He could outwit Optimus at times. He nearly got back to Cybertron if it wasn't for Mirage sabatoging their ship.

Worst Leader:
G1 Optimus Prime.
What did he really accomplish? He was never able to take back Cybertron from the Decepticons or defeat Megatron. Rodimus protected Cybertron from the Quintessons and Decepticons. In addition, he did everything in his power to resurrect Optimus. Rodimus is my favorite transformers character. He actually has a personality, unlike Optimus who is boring and predictable. I enjoyed watching a character that had to go through good and bad situations in order to become a better leader. I can relate to Rodimus. I often find myself wishing for less personal and/or work related responsibilities. However, I do the best I can to meet the challenges that these responsibilities provide. Sometimes I succeed and often I fail. But most importantly, I try to learn something and/or improve myself in the process. I think that most people do. It amazes me why Rodimus is disliked by some transformers fans. I guess Optimus may give people a sense of unrealistic security; however, Rodimus represents the ups and downs of reality.

Also, Hot Rod did not kill Optimus. Hot Rod was just trying to help him. Perhaps if Optimus stopped lecturing Megatron and just destroyed him, Hot Rod would not have been motivated to assist Optimus. Also, Kup should have helped Hot Rod stop Megatron. Instead, the old fool just stands there and watches the battle.

Worst Decipticon Leader:
G1 Megatron:
Galvatron may have been crazy, but at least he was smart enough to get rid of Starscream. Unlike Megatron, who never had the ability to completely destroy Starscream.

Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
AUTOBOTS: Wedge

Why its not Ultra Magnus: I highly doubt even Optimus wouldn't have been able to completely deal with Hot Rod and Kup buying the farm while he himself was being hunted down by Galvatron's Armada. He also stood up to Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps by himself to try and open the Matrix to save everyone, essentially sacraficing himself for everyone else. I agree with this.

Why it's not Rodimus: Everyone loves to slag on Rodimus for making mistakes, for his lack of confidence, or for whatever reason. Yet they don't realise 1 key point: We never got to see Optimus' early days/weeks/years on the job, past like 60 seconds after he became Optimus Prime. Did Hot Rod make mistakes? Sure, but so did Orion Pax. Did Rodimus have self confidence issues? Sure he did, but not only could Optimus have had them and we just never saw them, but Rodimus took over after having Prime running the show for millions of years on Cybertron & decades on Earth.

Nobody really ever gave Rodimus a chance. They mostly all went into "Screw this, WE WANT OPTIMUS BACK!!!" mode right from the start.

DECEPTICONS: G1 Megatron

1. The moron constantly chose to disregard his former scientist Second-In-Command whenever Starscream gave him advice. Whether it was about Megs' weapon of the week being faulty as Megs planned it, down to "Hey, there's something funny about your Stunticons" and it turns out that the robots Megatron happily allowed to walk into their basecamp were Autobots in disguise. Megatron never listened to the guy smarter than he was, and it always bit him on the butt in the end.

2. What really was his goal? Was it getting energy for the Decepticons to conquer, or was it kiling the Autobots? Because if killing Autobots had any importance to him, then why did he not allow Starscream to kill Gears in 'Changing Gears' once he got the personality circuit he needed? And not letting Starscream eliminate one of the enemy when A)the enemy would've gladly walked up to you and put your gun to his own head and B)it would be one less functional Autobot to hinder Megatron's plans.

And if Megatron's goal was to gather energy for conquest, then shouldn't he have focused more upon that goal over the weapons of the week that only served to attempt to kill Optimus, and yet always failed(see point 1)?

3)The simple fact that he allowed Starscream to live. If the first words we ever hear out of Starscream's mouth basically are "Megatron, you're a failure & an idiot, and we've never won due to you.", and then when you're revived on an energy rich world with no Autobots around to stop you & no Earthly power able to hinder you, why would you actually revive someone who wants to stab you in the back & take your job? Why continue to let him live afterwords when he tried to usurp Megatron?

And why, when your transformation mode requires someone to wield you for you to be useful, why on Earth would you 80% of the time land in the hands of the guy who wants to kill & replace you?!? What, was Skywarp or Thrust to busy to get another gun to shoot with?

Why it isn't G1 Galvatron: Yeah, Galvy was batshit insane, and yeah he'd sooner shoot his own troops than the enemy, but that is the key point: He'd actually shoot his own troops if he felt they threatened his powerbase(or if they told him water was wet & the sky was blue).

Why it isn't Ratbat: At least Ratbat seemed focused on his goals & actually got fuel for his troops.

!!!WORST LEADER AWARDS!!!

Postby Friend of Da Panda Symbol » Sat Jul 14, 2007 6:34 pm

Autobots Rodimus Prime (Post Movie) Had potential at the film's ending to be a young galvanizing force but instead the writers took him down the River Yuk.

:-x Didn't listen to anyone human or robot, ergo bothched things up both everyone in his path. By the time Dark Awakening debuted, I was wishing someone had shoved the matrix at the more common sense minded Kup.

 With all the Autobots Leaders up he could link up to via the Matrix, he couldn't be depicted as finding some others he couldn't measure up to other than (*Points to avatar)? I was willing to give this new leader a chance but how could I when you know who cropped up in passing and mostly it was Rodimus disparagingly comparing himself? How could I forget?

Galvatron (Post movie) more ruined thn Rodimus.

 Can this "Leader" concentrate on anything other than being crazed? (Although Webworld was the funniest season 3 episode I'e seen)

Turned more to Worse Comedy than being cunning.

Worst Leader for the Bots/Maxies was BM Primal by far.

1) All the previously mentioned zealot hippie stuff
2) Said zealot hippy stuff caused a rift between him and his team. Cheetor had to lead, they had to go behind his back to save one of their own....c'mon monkeyboy...you dropped the ball.

Worst leader for the Cons/Preds was RiD Megs/Galvatron

1) 6-10 modes of coolness (making his toy fun) and your best move with it is to become the right hand of your own fortress...which is then pimpslapped by a Fort Max repaint.
2) Armchair ruler, he sent his minions to do his dirty work, showing up only when it was too late or if his men did all the work to find an O-Part.
