- Motto: "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

While I have never agreed with the designs for the movie robot heads, after buying toys, seeing the trailers, reading some of the children's material they have released, I think what they are doing will be a nice new universe for transformers--the movie universe.
I want it to go its own direction from anything we've seen now as far as cartoons. The designs already do that, the characters while recognizable in some traits or design do not match any of the previous series in all ways (design, character, personality, etc.).
I would think that a movie that uses anything like minicons, Energon combination or planet keys, the Rodimus Prime/Magnus leadership passing, the death of Prime, as more than a throwaway easter egg (Scorponok is close to a minicon type being), is not in line with Bay's and Spielberg's vision. They are creating their own version of Tfs, artistic license, etc., so they can change and create things that help them to tell what they want to tell. They are not looking to recreate a previous series, but a 'real life' telling.
I want to see the first one before I start saying what they could do in the second and third. We know they will add some characters, it's the way of the sequel, and there very well could be some bigger overall problem, but since they started with such a small amount of characters, I doubt they are all the sudden going to go nuts and throw in all the other characters that haven't been used, as more than easter eggs, background, or flashback type things.
There is probably some plan about the future releases already, but they are most likely not fleshed out in any way, and could be easily changed.
I don't mind them having their own movie-verse, as long as it does things for collectors like allowing for more TF merchandise related to the general TF franchise, and as long as it does not leak its way into the sort of design asthetic that has been characteristic to vintage TFs for years. In other words, in the comics ala X-Men not everyone needs to wear leather costumes, become gritty, bitter, etc.
I don't want the movie designs to change IDW's designs for the G1/BW comics they have going on...I don't want bird like robot mode faces, or bug like faces on my TFs, keep them humanoid.
As far as toys, Wreckage is a good example of a movie toy that should be how the line goes forward... (he's not in the movie so the design reflects more of a Cybertron line kind of continuation in design, but with very realistic cool Earthy alt mode).
But I want to see this movie first!!!
