2007 movie rewatch - thoughts.

I saw TF when it came out in 2007 and have not watched it since until just now. I won't bother giving my opinion on it as a film because no one cares and it's not important, but there are one or two things that I wanted to say about it:

1) I totally recognized it was Hugo Weaving as Megatron's voice, which I think is pretty good considering how many effects there are on it, but no one was around to appreciate my spotting it so I'm saying it here.

2) How come Bumblebee can talk at the end of the movie, but then communicates via radio in ROTF and DOTM? Does something happen in one of the second 2 movies that I've forgotten about?

3) Did Ironhide really need to do that many forward rolls?

Also I'd never noticed before how pathetic Megatron's gun is. I mean it's powerful enough to send Prime smashing into a building, but seriously? That whiny little 'pew pew' is the noise they went for?

Bumblebee using the radio was briefly mentioned in RotF. It was after he killed the kitchen bots and went back in the garage. He was hitting his throat and Mikaela said "he's still having voice problems?" then Sam replied with" yeah, but he's playing it up." So going by that I think BB can talk, but it causes him some discomfort, so he sticks with the radio.

And yes, Megatron's pew-pew gun was pretty lame, I don't think it did any damage to Optimus at all.

Agreed on Megatron's lame gun sounds effects. Looks good visually, but "pew, pew?" Really?

The G1 and TF Prime fusion cannon sounds win hands down with that guttural roar of energy.

Such heroic nonsense...
I do not blame Michael Bay for crapping all over a huge part of my childhood. He just directed the scripts that were given to him. I blame Orci, Kurtzman, and Krueger, who seem completely incapable of concocting a story that even halfway makes sense.

Optimus Prime's voice is much deeper in the 2007 movie as well, notice that?

Watch them again. The voice change is so prominent to the point that it's annoying.

Honestly, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic [impossible to tell with written words alone 8-} my apologies if you weren't], but Megs' ROTF cannon sound effects are still rather high-pitched, but with more bass added.

But yeah, much better.

Funny, I can't recall how his shotgun sounded like in DOTM, but I think it was more was similar to ROTF. Better, but still rather high-pitched for my tastes.

The charging up sound effect is a nice touch, though.

I was serious. Yeah, it still sounds kinda high pitched, but it's not "pew-pew" but instead you can hear the cannon charge up before he fires it. It just sounds a lot better. And I thought the shotgun sounded like any ordinary blaster, which was kinda disappointing. It's Megatron, everything about him should be distinctive. But, then again, it is Bayverse. They seldom get the characters right.

I agree about Megatron. He's like the ultimate badass of Cybertron, so he's got to drip menace and power in every aspect. I personally like Bayverse Megs as much as his G1 design, maybe even a little more, but details like the cannon sounds shouldn't have been overlooked.

In the movies, he looks nigh invincible, especially in his ROTF version, and then you hear, "pew-pew-pew!"

It's a pity, because I really like his Bayverse look.

I recently saw a bit of the movie 'Mighty Joe Young', which is about a giant gorilla loose in LA. Joe the gorilla is trying to evade the police and hides under a bridge in one of those LA storm channels. Joe braces himself right under the bridge platform. In Transformers (2007), Optimus hides under a similar bridge in a very similar way to avoid Sector 7. Rip off, coincidence or Beast Wars reference?! :-?

Since it's Prime imitating a gorilla (gonna watch Mighty Joe Young now to confirm this) I'm gonna go with Beast Wars nod. Besides, it's not exactly a "rip off" to pull the same stunt else everyone who had a hero run away from an explosion would owe Michael Bay a ton of money. :michaelbay:
