I think it's more a matter of them just not caring. HTS.com sales probably account for an insignificantly small portion of their revenue, and it's simply not worth the time/expense for them to put more resources into it. They may also be concerned that if they made the HTS.com site TOO good, if you could buy everything there, then they'd be in direct competition with the retailers, on whom they depend.

Yeah, what you say makes total sense, yet there should be more balance. Even more particular to the SDCC stuff, it's once a year, it's not like it requires extra resources... there are no retailers in between, so I feel HTS.com has pretty much no good excuse not to improve their service for this exclusives in particular. Only wish our thoughts made echo over there...

Also, to be fair to Hasbro, they do NOT directly control HasbroToyShop. As I understand it, the latter is more of its own private entity that EXCLUSIVELY sells Hasbro products. I would assume they have some sort of mutually beneficial contract with one another to make the venture profitable. I think part of the current problem with communication to fans might be that neither Hasbro nor HTS is really taking a leadership role on SDCC exclusives anymore.

As someone who also collects MOTU Classics, I wouldn't be so quick to sing Mattel's praises in comparison to Hasbro when it come to fan appreciation. Mattel's slimy business practices plus Digital River's incompetence (they run the actual MattyCollector website) has made for some very sour experiences over the past several years. My experience with HTS, by comparison, has been largely benign by comparison.

I missed this set the last couple of times it has been on Hasbrotoyshop.com. I pre-ordered a set this morning and unfortunately the 10% discount code will not work . I would suggest getting over there ASAP if you haven't got a set yet. The set is a little pricey at $72 and some change shipped, but it is something to hold on to for sure.

I hate to say it guys, but the Knights of Unicron set never went out of stock. Also the Dinobots set has been in stock since the re-stock about a week after the initial posting.

Yea, Knights of Unicron never went out of stock, and the Dinobots have been in stock for some time.

Pretty surprising, actually... on the Dinobots at least.
