Growing up in the USA, the word I learned for this is tractor-trailer. That covers any type where there's a separable cab and trailer. Though usually we just say "truck" (or semi or 18-wheeler, depending).
I remember seeing the word "tractor-trailer" on G1 Motormaster's tech specs way back in the day and being like, oh what the hell is that? To me then (and still kind of now) a tractor is the thing you find on a farm and nothing else.
