A digital camera as a webcam. Is it possible?

I've been wondering about this for a while now but never figured out a way to try. Anyone ever been successful or is it impossible?

I know I can connect my sister's camera to the computer and record video that way, but I don't think I can use it as a webcam as such.

I think it's a rare feature only found in a handful of cameras.

Sorta odd to me that a feature like this wouldn't be in digital cameras. I figured the answer would be along the lines of no though.

It depends on the digicam. I used to have one that worked fine as a webcam, though it was a cheap and crappy one.

It's always the cheap and crappy ones that have the cool features.

Actually my digital camera can be used as a webcam. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't work Macs so I can't use it. It is a Fuji FinePix 6800z and I got it in 2001.

I have a camera that looks kind of like an iPod Nano. It's a cheap, $20 camera, but it's also a webcam.

The downside is that it doesn't have any flash when I take pictures, so I can only take pictures in well lit areas.

My step mom uses her Digi-cam as a Webcam. She talks to her relatives in Hungery over MSN and uses the Webcame to make it more inviting she says. It works surprisingly well, and where they live they are doomed to 56k dial up.

My first digital camera had that as a feature that it could be used as a Webcam(never tried that out). It was a 3 Megapixel Polaroid. I didn't like it, it was like $70-$100 like three or four years ago. No macro mode, so it wasn't very good for taking pics of Transformers, and I couldn't see the screen outside with bright sun. Yeah, not the greatest, but it did it's job. I got a better one last year that came with a Printer that works better. This was the camera:

I'll take a pic of it tomorrow(or scan it) with the sticker showing that it would work as a Webcam as well, if you want.

Nah no need. I'm just glad to know that some actually have this feature.

It's a pretty handy feature.

You'd figure something like a Canon A620 would have something as simple as that. I can shoot a photo in 40 different ways and record video in three different modes but I can't stream video.
