That includes people who have been with Transformers since the very beginning 30 years ago (yes, we get people that old). A small portion consists of teenagers and students, so youngsters are indeed among us.

But, like any fanbase (and the internat in general), we get some bad apples who, putting it lightly, do not act their age at all. That's how fans are, and while I applaud your efforts, prepare for some backlash from both sides.

ROFL. This is very true. Back in G1 mom or dad could always stop me from spending cash on that meroplex, trypticon or omega supreme. But now, if I want them I can damn well have them!

I can't say anything though, my parents made sure I had transformers. They enjoyed them as much as I did. I remember one time when my father traveled to New York to visit his family for about a week. He came home with BOTH Trypticon and Scorpinok for me. I still have them and everything they came with.

I've been waiting a long, long, long time to use this.

Welcome to the forums. That was very cool of Jelze and Sabrblade to chime in, I think they clarified a lot of things. Burn is actually very fair and even, he is a little sharp sometimes, but it is often appropriate. He is a good guy and intelligent. It was good that Sabrblade clarified your age. Otherwise it just sounded like you were an adult who wasn’t too informed. You basically joined an adult debate. Others have been posting and reading articles for years and decades. I don’t mean to talk down to children, I am just saying you don’t have years of reading behind you. Sometimes children are more skilled than adults and have intelligent insights. You had a good message which I agree with. Maybe it was too optimistic for some. Or maybe they took offense to something you said, or just found that you didn’t have enough information. Either way, like Jelze said, even when you have a good idea there is always a large amount of criticism. Other times people just take the topic in another direction.

This might have offended some people. We’ve heard this argument a lot over the years, that Bay saved Transformers, and it is incorrect and it gets tiresome. Like another said, Transformers were going strong; cartoons, comics, toys. Times were good and many fans were enthusiastic and very happy. The movies make some happy and others not so much. Sure the movies brought in more fans but it wasn’t necessary for the health of the franchise. I was a little surprised by how harsh the comments were. But maybe they thought your point was a little childish, too hopeful, and they found it silly and annoying. They weren’t hating on you, they were just giving you a hard time, I think. Going to the forums is like going to a bar. You are going to get sarcasm, cynicism, joking, and everything else. You have to be tough.

Burn may have simply been answering your question, not in fact attacking you. He never attacked and just answered and asked questions. I think that they thought that you were not well informed and a little naïve.

Like Burn said, this is a polite/civil forum, so no name calling, though often comments without swear words are very offensive, which is likely how you felt attacked. Feel free to say things like: “can you explain your comments?” “Why are you saying that?” “That is offensive and insulting.” Clear positive debate, no attacks.
