Activision Defends Against CVG Article

As reported earlier, CVG had an early look at the computer game based on the upcoming Transformers Movie. Their report was not completely positive. In response to that, Activision took the time to defend themselves and the game to CVG, showing that they fully stand behind the project they are still develloping.

"We're really disappointed you guys didn't get an accurate impression of what Transformers: The Game is all about and the direction in which we're headed. A work in progress system was shown that we finished putting together in the early hours of that morning specifically for a first-look presentation".

"The game is still in development and we're on course to deliver the game Transformers fans are hoping for. The new few weeks will see the game systems integrated and balanced, and we're really looking forward to bringing it out to show you guys once this process is complete!".

I think the game can be pretty good. They where the ones to make actual good comic book games like spider-man and hulk ultimate destruction. I think if anyone can pull this off, it is activsion.

I think this game has alot of potential, and if Activision took the time to fight back this early to negative feedback, I think it's because they know they have a winner on their hands, and don't want fans to denounce it this earlier and make everyone think the game sucks without ever actually playing it.

Besides, I don't trust online videogame reviewers anymore - it seems to me the big guns like IGN, CVG and Gamespot don't understand that videogames are, and always have been, meant to be fun, not ultra-complicated reality-simulators... just plain and simple fun!

And for me, fun is controling a bad-ass robot that can turn into a sleek, fast police car on a whim, drive around huge environments and destroy the sh*t out of everything.

If that's not fun, I don't know what is...

I thought the game looked awesome from what I saw at Toy Fair last month. I was also disappointed in how harsh CVG was when they reviewed the game knowing that it was an unfinished development demonstration. Good for Activision.

Or transforming into a jet and strafing yellow cadillac's. :D That's fun as well. Personally, I don't pay the blindest bit of attention to game reviewers. If I do, I read the fan reactions as they are more like minded as me and our views should be closer. But considering it's a WIP with a good few months of development to go yet, I'm not surprised CVG thought it was rubbish. Regardless of what reviewers say, this is the only game I'm interested in and the only one I'm going to buy.

Ah, damage control PR at work! Love it and can't wait for the game regardless!

Too bad Travellers Tales weren't the ones interviewed...Since they're the ones actually making the game....They'd probably stab people if they found out someone knocked a game that's probably not even in Alpha yet.

Three months isn't a lot of time, but I have faith in the LEGO Star Wars guys. If the magazines are still 'underwhelmed' (bear in mind this was the opinion of only one guy) when they get their review copies, then I might start to worry. Mind you, even then I'd put more stock in what other fans think of it than magazine reviewers.

Hey Phantomfish, great sig and avatar! Dirt Boss rules!

Back on topic, I think I might be looking forward to the movie game more than the actual movie, for the reason I stated above! And so far, it's looking like the only videogame I'm buying this year!

Meh, don't normally go by any reviews but EGM(they're spot on most of the time), but I'm not sold until I play it. If it ends up going more down the Lego SW road, I'll be happy.

I haven't read the review, and I don't need to read the review to have skepticism about how Activision will pull this game off. The game has enormous potential. Enormous. However, I'm willing to bet they'll dumb down the idea a lot, not explore the depth of the idea, and then throw in some easy gameplay for instant gratification.

The problem is even if they pull off a decent game, it'd still shameful to the potential that the idea has. If this game is nothing short of spectacular, it was a waste of time and money.
