Just a thought; DOTM came and went relatively quickly, hence why a lot of toys sat on the shelves, do you think AOE will do the same?

I'll start. I haven't seen the movie yet, and it's not a G1 lift, but from what I've read about it, the part with the man-made Transformers reminds me of MECH and their Nemesis Prime.

Despite some of the expected criticisms, it sounds like AoE actually delivers on what I've always wanted in a TF movie--no more soldier worship, no more ass-clown characters, and a more coherent plot.

Definitely looking forward to watching AoE.

I just got back from seeing it, and I'm EXHAUSTED. That's a good thing.

If the 1st 3 movies weren't in existence, this would have been a very good start. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work, because there were too many references to Dark of the Moon. I have to say, this film was 2 hours 40 minutes long, but it felt like about an hour. The pacing was crazy fast, there was no unnecessary human drama, NO SOLDIERS, just some mercenaries, (and Hound) and everything was explained. Lockdown's reasoning, Attinger's reasoning, Joshua Joyce's reasoning, and Megatron's return. (Galvatron, whatever.) I won't go into much detail, the only thing I didn't like was how the Dinobots were treated. They weren't even really "Dinobots." More like "Monsterbots" that kinda looked like half dinosaurs and half dragons. They weren't even called by name. I really liked the ending, everyone got what they deserved, good and bad. Mark Wahlberg made a big difference as a human leading man, as opposed to Shia LaBeouf. And Stanley Tucci was very good comic relief. No toilet humor. AT ALL. I was kinda surprised. I thought Bay couldn't resist at least 1 or 2. He just kept it to a few shots of Nicola Peltz's skinny ass. And finally, Shockwave got 2 eyes!

Rotten Tomatoes can kiss my ass. All the people giving this film a bad score on there are just Bayhaters doing it out of spite. This was definitely the best TF movie so far. It was like abigger, badder version of the 1st film, with about 1/4 of the human drama. I'm seeing it again with friends tomorrow. Do yourself a favor, go see it. Bay may not have redeemed himself for the stupid crap he put in the previous ones, but it's a very good start. Hopefully the other 2 of the new trilogy will be like this, only better. And the way it ended, there will DEFINITELY be at least 1 more.

I give it 3/4, only because the "Dinobots" could have been put to much better use.

Got back from viewing it tonight alot of people cheard, clapped, laughed minicopters are called drones something not minicons, prime has help of humans and bee to kill lockdown, prime kill a human, hear drift call one of dinobots spike, like little transformer tidbits thrown in there g1 transformation, transformer g1 ringtone, showing prime and bee scanning truck and car to there new forms is intersting touch.

For anyone who doesnt want to see it in theatwr feel bad for you thats your choice but atleast give it shot you may be surprised you wont know how you feel about film unless you see it reading about it and seeing it for your self is complete differmt situation all together.

Someone tell they met peter cullen at convetion told me about it sounds great but it is not as good as being there in person to see him with your own two eyes talk to him personally to get full better expeiance find out what hes like, drift turns into copter in some scenes

I will say if there where not some refreances from dark of moon some peoplle would get confused about why and how autobots being killed with plot beinf excluded brains was better this time around frank welker as galvatron was I wanted him to talk more possibly in sequel

This was the greatest 3 hours of my life. Optimus was the most badass badass in the history of badasses. Finally, all the Autobots have distinctive personalities and are in the movie even more than the humans. This is the **** TF fans were waiting for. The stupid humor is gone, even though a lot of it still isn't funny, it's not annoying in the slightest. Not for me, anyway. And one of the only characters who can be considered annoying is dealt with QUICKLY.

Not really, its a mixed bag of different car models, even Junkheap is there and transforms. There is also that cg model that was thought to be cyclonus once.

There is one that looks like a 2 headed version of shockwave but its just the looks, not the actual character.

Other things: there are only 4 dinobots, Slog and Snarl do not appear.

And Drift actually transforms into a helicopter. That Skyhammer redeco makes perfect sense though I would have preffered a retool of generations springer. I believe that makes him the first triple changer ever seen in the big screen

I second this review. Its a fun transforers movie. Oh and the scene with Bumblebee dancing isnt there, yay!

Any transformer fan is doing him or herself a disservice by avoiding this one. Watch it on the biggest screen possible. I went for IMAX and didnt regret it.

Well ... that was a marathon! In short, I did enjoy it.

Notes
• Plenty of destruction
• Ample amount of human deaths
• My Little Pony appearance
• The robots we know as Cybertronians, are made out of "Transformium"
• Ratchet dies
• Leadfoot dies
• Brains lives
• Galvatron IS Megatron reborn
• Drift is essentially a triple changer (car, robot, helicopter)
• The Dinbots are Lockdown's prisoners
• Transformers are not born, they were built by "The Creators"

The Humans

Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) - I thought he did a great job, such a pleasant change from Shia LaBeouf. Though playing a inventor doesn't seem like his sort of character, given that said inventor then gets drawn into battles between giant alien robots and manages to hold his own against them.

Tessa Yeager (Nicola Peltz) - Oh so conflicting ... at the start I was very impressed with her, she was coming across as a strong female lead ... but then once the explosions start she switches into damsel in distress, before alternating back and forth between the two. You can't be strong AND weak. One big miss for me with her was her bright pink lipstick which made her look (more so) like eye candy.

Shane Dyson (Jack Reynor) - Pointless. Only use for him was to add dialogue between himself and Cade. Didn't really do anything otherwise.

Joshua Joyce (Stanley Tucci) - Good guy? Bad guy? Bumbling idiot? If anything he's filling the role of Agent Simmons. He starts off as a collaborator with Harold Attinger and vivisector of Transformers (hence bad guy, and also intelligent), but then turns into a bumbling idiot and by the end of it is offering Cade a job.

Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) - Not a stand out performance from him but he did a good job playing the head CIA agent, business partner to Joshua Joyce and go-between between Joyce and Lockdown. At least his character didn't change.

James Savoy (Titus Welliver) - Standard second in command bad guy. Hates Transformers because his sister died in the battle of Chicago.

Su Yueming (Bingbing Li) - Not a major role, but as the Chinese business partner of Joyce she did a superb job. Got her own little kick arse moment and may in fact be the person responsible for Joyce becoming a bumbling idiot (she is quite attractive)

The Robots

Optimus Prime - Same ol Optimus, though unlike other Optimus', this one is sick of the humans crap. With good reason, they've turned on them and are now hunting them down. It's revealed he is also a Knight of Cybertron (he can also fly now)

Bumblebee - Takes a bit of a back seat here as the story centres more on Optimus Prime. Bumblebee still uses radio to talk and to me, has mentally regressed and is now a petulant teenager (a point that Optimus Prime states that he and Cade both share).

Hound - John Goodman did a fantastic job of Hound. A number of great lines. Truly enjoyed the Hound character.

Drift - Samurai face looks stupid. Happy to try to kill Crosshairs even though he believes in trying to come to peaceful solutions without violence (before promptly stabbing a prisoner of Lockdown). Some how magically (we don't actually see it happen) can change between robot, car, AND helicopter. No explanation given, he just does it. No trans-scanning involved either as both modes appear more than once.

Crosshairs - More pissed off with the humans that Optimus. Happy to leave us to our own devices. Also happy to kill Bumblebee if it meant he could take over leading the remaining Autobots (before Prime's return)

The Dinobots - Prisoners of Lockdown, freed by Prime who then had to beat Grimlock into submission. Have no lines at all aside from occasionally roaring. Are INCREDIBLY MASSIVE on the big screen. Definitely need to see more of them.

Lockdown - Interesting character, works side by side with the CIA to hunt down those who fought in the Battle of Chicago, his main goal however is to capture Optimus Prime and return him to "The Creators".

Galvatron - Named by the humans, but is Megatron reborn. Voiced by Welker, is far from the main protagonist in this movie.

Ratchet (deceased) - Hunted down by the humans, Ratchet is wounded and unable to escape, allowing Lockdown to murder him.

Confusing and annoying bits
• Sparks and Souls - When Lockdown murders Ratchet, he does so by ripping his spark from him. Later in the movie when Cade is repairing Prime he mentions his "power core" to which Prime tells him it is his power core and his spark which contains his memories.

Flash forward to the Galvatron/Megatron reveal, it's explained that Megatron downloaded himself from his severed head into his new human built body. No spark involved

• The Creators - Despite the hatchlings in Revenge of the Fallen, we're now told that Transformers are built, not born. The Creators are not revealed, though Prime leaves the Earth in search of them.

• Prime leaving - Despite being tired of humans hunting them, Prime leaves at the end, rocketing into space in search of The Creators, leaving the remaining Autobots behind to look after Cade and his family...said Autobots which also hate humans.

• Transformium - The name given to the metal that the robots are made out of it. I'm sorry, but that is a completely stupid name.

• Pangu Plaza - Nothing annoying about it. I just wanted to note that they could have cute the Pangu Plaza stuff out and it would have made NO difference to the story line at all.

Wrap up
Overall though I enjoyed the movie. I felt it's the best so far. As far as lead actors go, Mark Wahlberg and Nicola Peltz worked better than Shia LaBeouf and well...anyone. Primarily because Cade is trying to protect his daughter as opposed to Shia being a immature idiot lusting after anything with boobs.

It's definitely left things open for the next movie, that could involve a Earth based story with less Prime, or a Prime centric movie off-planet. Here's hoping for the latter.

I went to the biggest IMAX screen I could find, which was in a space museum, with a bunch of NASA rocket scientists watching the movie, too. Anyone who says these movies are for dumb people are mistaken. And as much as I was worried about that dancing scene, I kind of wanted to see what they'd do with it.

Yeah, but, where'd they get 2 Shockwave heads from? Or did they just form that way when they created them? I know they couldn't exactly control the way they looked, but still.

Stinger was modelled on Bumblebee

Galvatron was INTENDED to be modelled on Optimus Prime.

It's perfectly conceivable that they modelled a number of the other 50 on other TF's.

Gotta say I saw it and it was just.....okay. This is one of those movies where the trailers make everything seem so much better than you see the movie and it's just like Ehhhh. Though it's explained as a new development in improving Transformers the way the newly built Decepticons transformed was just a nuisance for me as it really made the Special effects seem way worse than they were when they were on screen. Looked like just a pixelated mess.

2nd as much as people hate Shia I kind of ended up missing him a lot. His approach to his character was a lot more entertaining to me then Cade's character. They also could have alluded to what happened to Sam and crew as well. No mention of them at all that I saw.

Now I go to the worst part of the film. It's almost 3 hours long for no reason. Well there is a reason. It's because the first 45 minutes to an hour are spent to kill Ratchet and then develop characters when that all could have done in much shorter time. Did we really need to have 2 or 3 conversations between Cade and his daughter having the same issue about boys and dating to know he was on overprotective father? Then to boot their scenes weren't even acted out all that well.

Let's not talk about how Cade, with no military training that I know of, is thrashing Decepticons left and right in this film. I'm pretty sure is body count is close to 10.

The movie is worth seeing if your a fan but I don't see it doing as well with the masses as the other ones.

Yes to all.
Prime killed Kelsey's character to save Cade. This distracted him from the fight with Lockdown which allowed Lockdown to get the drop on him.
