I was wondering if there was anyone out there that collected all things WFC/FOC, as I do. Anything from the figures (and various molds/redecos and 3rd party stuff) to artwork, comics, games, books, etc.
Really, what I'm trying to do is to get a list of some obscure items that I may not have yet.
I'm kinda obsessed with this line and need to spend more money.
I think I've got most of the figures, but some may have slipped through. I just caught the TFCC Fisitron (a FOC Swindle remold) and placed it in my POL at BBTS.
The comics have been some work to track down, given the various covers and such.
What's in your collection?

Do you have every version of Bruticus?

standard retail
G2 redeco
Ruination retool
SDCC/Platinum redeco
(+ Japanese version(s))

I have the G2 version (still sealed) and the Ruination version (opened for playing with).

Well, almost...I have the standard retail, the Takara versions, the G2 redeco - still sealed, the ruination set, and the Platinum set - still sealed. I've heard that the SDCC set is slightly different than the Platinum. Not sure if that's really true.
Also, waiting for Takara to do the Ruination set, which I'm sure they'll do sometime.
Besides above, what I also have:
WFC Bee, OP, CJ, Megs, SW - both Has and Tak
WFC Darkside Megs and OP
WFC Rage over Cybertron Bee, OP, and Megs
FOC OP, Jazz, Shockwave - Has and Tak (Shockwave was marketed as Prime for the Takara version)
FOC Magnus, Sideswipe, Kickback, Air Raid, Starscream, Skywarp, Soundwave, Soundblaster, Blaster, and all the "cassettes" - both Has and Tak
Grimlock - Has, Tak, and Platinum, waiting for "fire" Grimy
Thundercracker - Has, waiting until the Tak version is available
Planet X Swoop
YOTS Omega Supreme
And a bunch of 3rd Party accessories...

Well, his aesthetic is more G1 than his in-game animation model. Now if some 3rd party makes an add-on to make him resemble the FOC style, then I will be all over it.

I've got:

G2 Bruticus
Shockwave
Soundwave
Protoform Starscream. Not as FoC Starscream, obviously, but I thought he fit the aesthetic. I call him Starwheeze.

I've got all the figures from WfC/FoC except for the Platinum Edition Grimlock+Bruticus set (I do have the SDCC Bruticus), the Hasbro Grimlock (I do have the Takara version) and Hasbro Skywarp (only got the Takara version of that one as well) including the domestic and Japanese versions of each (again, save for Grimlock and Skywarp).

I plan on getting the upcoming Bruticus upgrade kit which includes a replacement for Onslaught, although I'll likely only get the version that matches the Takara version as it appears most game-accurate in combined mode from what I can recall (and I'm a total sucker for that metallic paint :P).

I also have Planet X's Genesis (truly awesome figure) and I have Caelus (not-Swoop) in my PoL on BBTS awaiting shipment. Assuming Planet X keeps going with the WfC/FoC stuff, I'll keep on buying them. I just hope they get around to doing the Decepticon cars from the game at some point, like perhaps once the Dinobots are done.

I wish Planet X's Omega wasn't so bloody expensive, otherwise I would get that guy too. I'm hoping the add-on for YOTS Omega will be pretty good. Also, thinking about getting the add-on kit for Bruticus as well as the other add-on kit that includes a new Onslaught. And I too am a sucker for the metallic paint.

OK, not obviously. But if he didn't appear in the videogame (thus perhaps making the character more popular) would there be a Generations figure? Especially of that size? I don't know, maybe the figure was announced before the character was announced to be in the game? And Bruticus' toys don't look like the game renders either, even with the correct colors.

I think you're wrong about Bruticus too. Compare the Bruticus Generations figures to the game models and the G1 toys and it's obvious they were modeled after the game designs, even if every detail isn't exactly the same.

To summarize:

Generations Metroplex = G1 Metroplex
Generations Bruticus = FOC Bruticus

Weren't the Combaticons labeled as "FoC"? I thought they were... And I didn't say the newer figures were modeled after the older ones. I just didn't think they were very similar to the game models. (Of course, it would be better if I had played the game past the 1st 2 levels)

Yes, the Combaticons were labeled "Fall of Cybertron", unlike Metroplex, which is simply labeled "Generations".

Generations Bruticus and each of his members very closely resemble the in-game models, aside from changes that had to made in order to make them into practical molds. They don't really resemble any previous incarnations of the Combaticons. It IS rather obvious that the figures were based on the game (as you said, they put the game's name right on the packaging), unlike Generations Metroplex, which bears a strong resemblance to the G1 figure but little resemblance to the game model and does not have "FOC" anywhere on the packaging.

No, WFO/FOC is G1! they are not part of Prime! I can't hear what your saying!
La La La La La La La La La La!

On a serious note, I'm not sure how concrete the labels are supposed to be when it comes to these figures. YOTS Omega Supreme wasn't labeled a WFC figure but seems most intended to be slotted into that lineup, same for the G2 themed Bruticus set.

I stopped listening to Hasbro's official canon because I'm pretty sure they're beholden more to marketing demands than fiction. Hence why Starscream is a FOC toy but the Thudercracker repaint technically isn't. I'm pretty sure their decision to make a new Metroplex figure was based on his promotion in FOC even though he's modeled after G1.

And yes, I do slot all my WFC/FOC figures in my Classics G1. They fill a lot of holes nicely.

I have,

WFC Optimus Prime. He is now Nemesis Prime.
WFC Megatron. He is now Galvatron.
WFC Soundwave. He IS my Soundwave.
FOC Air Raid. He is now Space Case with head swap.
FOC Sideswipe. He is now Chromedome with head swap.
FOC Kickback.
FOC Thundercracker. He is now Acid Storm.

The fiction is part of the marketing, so it makes sense that marketing comes first and the fiction is altered to support the marketing. That's how it's been since 1984, when the fiction was first invented as part of the marketing plan.

I think the reason Thundercracker wasn't released as a "FOC" figure was mostly timing. It came out after interest in the video game had waned, and by then IDW was using the design in their comics, so at that point it made more sense to release it as an IDW Generations figure than as a FOC figure. (Plus, unlike Starscream, TC wasn't a main character in the game. I think he was only available in multiplayer.) That's my theory, anyway.

The decision to make a new Metroplex MAY have been partly motivated by his presence in the video game, but clearly the figure's design was based on the G1 Metroplex, not the FOC Metroplex.

Yeah, I'm kinda on the same page with RiddlerJ. If the representation of the figure is definitely inspired by WFC/FOC, then its part of that "family", regardless of the packaging, especially, since Has/Tak retool/redeco existing molds for new characters and such to get more bang for their buck. Of course, though, any figures that are packaged as WFC/FOC are included in my collection. I have the Legends Starscream that was packaged with the WFC game, even though that mold was for Classics Starscream (I think), as well as the Kabaya Gum WFC Optimus Prime.

Kind of. The plastic is a few miniscule shades different on some guys, maybe a little more swirly/metallic-y? I literally have to hold them both up in direct sunlight to try and figure out the differences. Still haven't found a paint app difference. I don't recommend double-dipping, especially given the cost of the SDCC release.

[quote="RiddlerJ"]

I'm not countering where Hasbro officially places it's figures. I just don't adhere to it very stringently.

I do believe they don't worry too much about continuity and are happy that people stick the figures on whatever shelf they like just as long as they buy them. That's partly why I think WFC was connected to Prime in the first place. Both continuities were coming out at the same time and it just made good marketing sense to combine them even though their aesthetics don't match too well.

I keep my Prime figures separate from my Generations figures. I guess in a sense, I count Classics/ Universe/Generations as its own continuity where Universe Hot Shot, Generations Rhinox and Generations Soundwave all exist-a variation on G1.

I sort of gave up on Hasbro caring about this line so I'm glad that 3Ps are pushing out a considerable amount of WFC/FOC product. There are a few characters that can be done via customizing like Ratchet/Ironhide but for characters like Slipstream, Air Raid, Jetfire, etc, I wish Hasbro would have actually put effort into making something for them.

Yeah, same here. I loved the games and love the style of the bots and alt modes from it. I wish Has/Tak hadn't cut its runs so short. And seriously Planet X, I needs me some Decepticon cars, they were my favorite characters to use when playing the first game :P (Breakdown and Barricade).
