Autobot-Hellstriker wrote:I see the autobots doctors strictly this way.

First Aid: He's like a sort of battlefield medic and a "family" doctor that runs a small office.

Ratchet: He's the the more skilled hospital surgeon type doctor specializing in advanced repairs outside among the autobots.
He's also the doctor everyone goes to when it is outside of First Aid's field level of expertise.

I definitely see First Aid as a combat medic, but Hoist's profile on the TFwiki and his portrayal in the show has him as a family doctor.

Anyway, I never saw First Aid as a female, cause he doesn't look like a female. He's very boxy and has a cool mouthplate.

And if First Aid was into anyone, it would be Minerva. A glimpse of what could have been can be seen in the fan comic "War Journal": http://tf-war-journal.deviantart.com/

I had nothing to do with the story, but it's pretty awesome.

As another aside, about how many Female Transformers there are, well according to the TFwiki, a lot:

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Category:Female_Transformers

And they even have a handy dandy pictoral guide of Female Transformer toys:

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Category:Female_Transformer_toy_images

One thing you'll notice is that several entries, like Armada Ironhide and Cliffjumper(Mini-cons) were made female after the fact, probably because they were androgynous and the writers could. In a sense, it really helps put some of these characters on the radar because Female Transformers are still quite the minority.

If I may,

I see the TFs as mimics as a whole- they select their bot mode and Altmode both from a range of proto-formats as varied as their race is old.
Being a race that will couple up with other races, they absorb whatever culture they can or will from outside and integrate it all, point being that Transformers will constantly reshape their behavioral profile as well as their own identity (so a Doc who helps Quintessons might be cold & calculating or even a straight out executioner until AFTER he interacts with Humans, at which point he becomes physically empathic, which becomes the biggest quintesson joke when he returns).

My drift:
I don't see why TFs couldn't have learnt of/developed reproduction by mimicking it in species they have coexisted with. Since any Alien can mimic an exterior but has to guess at what the inside is ACTUALLY INTENDED FOR (Eg: How many stairways in a Metroplex with elevators? Do the stairs come down or go up?).Bots could therefore mimick either Homosexuality, Typical marriage and even flirtation, Amazonian man-Slavery and whatever else you want your bot to do, but they would be guessing at what it's for and why the locals do it when they actually begin to delve into the experience. Later, they can keep at it until the next transformation, get bored of it or just abandon it as impractical right away or pass a hybridized version of it into Cybertronian amalgamated culture.

A prehistory of Asexuality or combi-sexuality can therefore be another reason why First Aid doesn't have a problem switching between examination/healing and combat/defense modalities.

But, yeah, of course a TF can be Homosexual, Bisexual, Bi-Curious, Straight or a Nun AS LONG AS there is a TF reason for it.

I like that last comment. :)

As for njb902: yes, sex and gender have finally been separated, thanks to the work of gender equality movements (at least something has been achieved, if not actual full equality).
Being a woman does not mean you are sexually attracted to men, nor does it imply you have any sexual implications at all! Same goes for men.

Duke of Luns: I do agree that there are a lot, but is mostly due to there being even more characters identified as 'male'. If the ratio is 1:10 (or 1:13, as I saw suggested due to the fact that one of the Thirteen is female), and there are 148 female transformers (based on the article from TFWiki, and this is considering all continuities, not at any given moment) that means there are around 1628 TFs overall. Which does not appear unlikely!
