The skinny:
The NES(or rather Famicom, the Japanese equivalent)had two games, Mystery of Convoy, and Headmasters(for the Disk System).
I've played Mystery of Convoy through emulator, and the Angry Video Game Nerd has done a review of it(if you look it up, be warned there's foul language). Anyway, it's a really, really bad game. You play as Ultra Magnus who really looks more like Hot Spot, and it's a 2D sidescoller/platformer. The controls are pretty bad and not very responsive, most enemies take multiple hits to kill, their bullets blend intot he background, transforming is usually a waste, there are very few recognizable Decepticons(bosses only), and last but certainly not least as it's the biggest problem of the entire game, you get hit once, you die. No powerups, no armor, nothing. The difficulty of the game is pretty severe as is, and only one hit makes it all the worse. Then there's the last level of the game, which has one of those "you must take the right path" type mazes, which is why I never beat the game(no internet at the time).
I have no idea how much the game goes for, but if you live in Japan you can actually buy it on Virtual Console for the Wii. But if you skip it your not missing much. Oh yeah, if you collect the letters R,O,D,I,M,U,S during the game you get to play through the game again as a red Ultra Magnus, or Rodimus. Yay .
There was a sequal on the Disk system, and I've only seen a youtube video about it. Basically, it looked better, and you had a life bar, but it probably wasn't anything to write home about.
The Commodore 64 had two Transformer related games, simply "The Transformers", and Battle to Save the Earth. I have no input on these games, as I've never played them, but the Nerd also reviews "The Transformers".
On the PS1 and N64 front(they're nearly 15 years old, believe it or not, they're practically classic now), there were only Beast Wars games. Not very good ones I might add.
The original PS1 Beast Wars game I have, and basically, it's a very bland third person action/platformer game. Firstly, it being in 3D means there are pretty good sized levels to explore, some of them with little to no sense of direction. To clarify, one of the early missions has you open doors by stepping on switches. Well, there's no arrow pointing you to where to go, you have to remember, and it's easy to get lost, and it's boring running back through the area you were just in. Oh you do have a map that has gray unexplored and green explored colors on it, but that's not much help. Aiming is automatic, you can charge your blast into a "missle", and you do have a health bar, but don't be expecting to blast anything remotely recognizable. The poor, poor graphics this game has(even by 1996 standards) means that most if not all enemies are very polygonal. You'll fight square robots, pyramid shaped ships, very polygonal scorpions, some kind of robot gazelle horse boss, and this thing:
I...don't remember getting that far into the game. Apparently, this might be a Skriix, an alien lifeform you fight in the game, though I don't remember them being mentioned in the PS1 instruction book or the game itself. Oh there are Predacon bosses, but those fights are pretty crappy. As crappy as the voice acting. Optimus Primal sounds decently close, but that's about it. Talk about uninspired and reading from a script... Finally, one big thing I feel needs to be mentioned is that transforming is both essential in this game, but also useless. Ya see, like the show, this game only allows you to be in robot mode for so long before you get "energon damage", and you go into beast mode to refill your, I don't know, resistance meter? Fair enough, but you can't attack in beast mode!! At all!! So yeah.
Despite the poorness of the game, one area of the game I actually found to be fun was the "Rescue Missions". You collect an icon in the mission, and upon completion you are treated to a 3D behind your character shoot 'em up segment, and it's in these segments you get your only chance to play as Air Razor or Terrorsaur(Optimus Primal and Inferno are options too, but come on, you can play them in the regular missions). Not much to say about these segments other than I enjoyed them, and upon completion you get one of your "captured" characters back(if you fail in a mission you can't select that character anymore until resucued).
Moving on, it's been ages since I played Beast Wars Transmetals for the PS1 since I only rented it(it was also on the 64, and is supposed to be pretty good, but I never played it). It's a 3D fighting game where you can actually fight in Beast Mode! I don't remember it as very good, but it wasn't horrible like the first game. One thing about the PS1 game is that it had exclusive CG cinemas with the actual voice actors from the show, and everyone save Silverbolt and Quickstrike was a Transmetal. This includes Black Arachnia, who was a Predacon. The Wiki page lists all the playable characters, and there's actually a difference between versions. There's also a "product catalog" on the PS1 game, basically showing all the available toys. Among these was Ravage, which confused the heck outta me when I was younger cause Metals Ravage was never released in the U.S.
Finally, there was a Beast Wars II game released on the Game Boy color, a 2D fighter, but I've never played it.
Hope that was informative .
