Are recent Alternity exclusives worth it

I saw these as part of BBTS clearance http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail and I am tempted.

These recent alternity entries (Galvatron and Bludgeon) are gorgeous but I have a tough paying so much for a toy simply because it is hard to get and not because of the higher quality. They write the following:
These items are bought at retail in Japan and marked up before being sold to us - the price is high for an Alternity, but it is the only option.

And unlike the binaltech line, these are just deluxe class and not voyager class. So in the end. I wonder if it is worth it.

PS: Any chance Hasbro ever makes a version of the alternity line?

Depends on your taste preference. Btw, don't hold your breathe on Hasbro doing an Alternity international release.

I used to have the red Optimus and black Megatron from Alternity, and wasn't impressed. The only 1 I kinda want right now is Maximus.

Not so sure the recent exclusives are really worth the initial asking prices, but to catch them in a sale or second hand, they could work out a great buy!

I hope to pick up more of the Alternity figures and repurpose them as they are perfect alongside othe Hasbro Deluxe class figures. ;)

I have Alternity Bumblebee, Nemesis Prime and the silver Megatron, all of which are awesome little figures.
The scale of Suzuki Bee is a little off, being slightly oversized compared with the scale of the Nissans GTRs which where 1:32 scale. The Suzuki Swift mould looks huge next to the Nissans!

That said, Alternity Bee is currently a place holder for MP Bee as he scales perfectly. [Noooooot entirely sure but is the current MP scale 1:28 ??]

Im thinking about doing one of my Lazy Customs on Alternity Nem Prime soon actually! :-$

I have most of the regular release Alternity figures but I don't think the current prices are worth it although that Saber keeps whispering to me.

What should be a good price point i should aim for. In other words what is a decent and fair price for a figure from the alternity line?

I have Alternity Optimus Prime, Starscream, and Bumblebee. All 3 of them are great figures, with complex but fun and creative transformations. Also, rubber tires and METAL! I paid mine around 50$ brand new and shipped each, but that was some years ago.

If you don't mind the deluxe size, get your favorite characters. They're like mini Alternators/Binaltech with superior engeneering.

thanks, thats a fair price point to base myself on. I love complex and interesting transformations. The deluxe class is turning out to be my favourite class

Good to know. 50-60$ for a SHIPPED Alternity is reasonable price. At 100$+ for the "exclusives" redecos is a big nope for me.

I have one of each mold and I love the Alternity line. I don't know why, they're very flawed but I still love them. I would NOT pay that much for one. The Megatron mold does have some breakage issues with the automorph chest gimmick.

As they said, around 50 is a decent price for these.

And no, Hasbro won't be doing there own version. The line is long dead and not relevant or related to anything current.

So I got some alternities after all. I made sure to not pay too much as you guys recomended.
I have some seekers so far, and theya re very cool, with a very nice and tight alt mode.

I was wondering something, which parts of the Alternity seekers are made of die cast metal? The doors seem die cast but apart from that I dont know.

Go for Alternity, u can't go wrong. I've collected many types of TFs, Hasbro movie series, legends, deluxe, voyager, leader class, Takara MPs, Binaltech, etc. Now, most of them had either been sold off or thrown to my kids as toys, like those deluxe and voyager class. The only set I still keep is Alternity, and if u count them as well, will be all the Human Alliance voyager class from the movies by Takara.
Alternity is by far the one and only series that is systematic and logical, at least to me. A collection series should start with the leaders, which are OP and Meg, follow by the crowd favourites, like BB and SS. Binaltech is not bad, except the sequence of release is a mess (bots and cons release in random order), and IMO, too bulky and the robot form is not appealing enough to be consider a favourite. Alternity, on the other hand, has sleek design, the transformation is complicated but fascinating, and the alt mode is superb (I'm a car lover). To me, the interior of the car is important, it must have details. So I can't stand those deluxe and voyager class where the interior is filled with all the robot parts.
MPs are great as well, just that they are too exp. So, if you like sleek cars, modern looking robots, systematic series, nice paint job, great interior details, you can't go wrong with Alternity. Once you own the series, you will be like me, can't wait to get rid of all those deluxe, voyager classes, ugly plastic looking toys.

You cant check with a magnet because die cast materials are non-ferrous. I just realized that yesterday when I was checking my G1 toys with magnets to see where the die cast was.

IIRC the seekers has diecast doors, bodyframe(spine?) and knees(the part holding onto his shins).

The more you know...
Also, die cast can snap like dry plastic with barely enough force. I found this out the hard way while trying to repair an old Gobots. :(

Diecast feels colder to the touch.

Addition: Their feet (minus the toes) are diecast too.

And I just realized that I had just answered a year-long question
