Command Deck

Bumblebee had been waiting to hear Brawn's response when Seaspray spoke from behind him. The yellow minibot turn to face the blue and white 'Bot who was standing rigidly at attention. The Autobot XO smiled broadly at his fellow minibot who was now up and about from an extended stay in the CR chamber. Although he had been roughed up pretty badly before they left Cybertron, it wasn't bad enough to require any major surgery on Ratchet's part, just a longer then normal dip in the tank.

"Hey Seaspray, good to see you up and about!" Bumblebee said as he patted the other minibot on the shoulder. "Relax, no need to get so formal around me, I'm not that big on protocol. now is there anything you can do to help?" The yellow minibot rubbed his chin as he thought. "Well right now we are all just waiting on getting the intelligence from Jazz so we can finally start moving against the Decepticons, but other then that we are just attending to our regular duties while we try and fill the time. Though I think I can use you. Me and Smokescreen recently deployed extra surveillance gear around the lake, but I can use you to make regular patrols around the lake surface for anything out of the ordinary. Though I should tell you the lake we are submerged in sees a far amount of human maritime traffic so you might have to be careful not to act out of the ordinary, though I am pretty sure you can handle it." Bumblebee grinned. "So just patrol the surface of the lake a few times a solar cycle and keep an eye out for anything that might be unusual and report it back."

(bloody hell, talk about in at the deep end :p)

Command deck

Since the news broke about Jazz, Ironhide had been seriously brooding. One of his best down, potentially for a long time to of been placed in stasis lock and whatever he had found out locked up in his data banks, inaccessible to them. He'd honestly hope the mech would pull through, but failing that, he'd had the good sense to transfer the data into a secondary processor they could easily access should he be placed out of commission for a long time.

The decepticons certainly knew they were here now, and no doubt would begin ramping things up into high gear. Damnit, and here he though they had the luxury of time, and discretion. Now he knew that they'd lost the latter, and if he wasn't careful they would lose the benefit of large amounts of the former. Well dang typical.

He needed to know exactly what the hell had gone on out there, and to do that, he was going to need reports, fast.

“Ironhide, I just took a full inventory of the armory. Everything is as it should be. I even straightened the place up a bit. Now, if there’s nothing else, sir, I thought I might run a few tests on the ship’s weapon systems to make sure everything is up to spec.” said Trailbreaker, breaking his line of thought. Giving the other bot a grunt and nod of acknoledgement.

"Right.. do what ya 'ave ter do TB, just make sure i have a list of your findins' once yer done.." he replied, his wizened faceplate breaking into a slight smile as the other made his way back into his station. Right on cue. Hell, he was tempted to see if they couldn't find a way to temporarily increase their energy supply, incase they needed to disengage their weapon inhibitors and fight at full power for a time. He wasn't going to take any chances, hell no. Having taken the datapad from Trailbreaker, he set about making a brief inventory. Good, whilst they didn't have enough to equip an army, if there was a sudden upsurge in engagements, he figured they'd have enough ammunition and spare weaponry to last them a few mega-cycles worth of conflict. He was even considering perhaps sending a message back to Optimus Prime for resupply. Hell, perhaps even reassign some more front line mechs to reinforce his position.

He didn't notice, as he once again fell deep into thought when the various Autobots, including Seapray came into the Command center. He was too focused upon deciding on ammunition quotas, potential needs for the reserves to be resupplied. However, he finally realised that, once again, there was a party going on around here.

"Dang it, dont you lot have anythin' better to do?" he asked, his optics scanning the lot of them. However, at that point he looked over to Seaspray, and his hard expression softened slightly. About dang time, was the general thought that flashed across his circuits.

"Well well, look who's up an' out after their trip ter elsewhere eh? Welcome back.." he said, slowly rising from the command chair for the first time in awhile, placing Trail breaker's data pad down on the side.

Command Deck

When Ironhide had bellowed his irritation across the command deck Bumblebee turned to look at his commander. The yellow minibot did agree that the command deck was a little crowded at the moment, it looked like half the crew was up there. Though he had a few options to help cut down on the current crowd that had gathered, clamouring for their CO's attention. Bumblebee carefully approached the larger, red 'Bot, although they were old friends the minibot knew it was always a good idea to be careful when old Ironhide's processors were overheating.

"If you're interested I think I got a way to cut down on the cramped space we got going on around here lately." Bumblebee said said as he stood before his commander. "I've been thinking lately that itm ight be a good idea to create a rotating patrol scheduale, that way it gives us a chance to let the guys get out and stretch their wheels so to speak. With the way things are most of the crew has been cooped up in here since we arrived and most of them are climbing the walls waiting to get off their afts and get out and do something."

Bumblebee gestured over his left shoulder with his thumb in the direction of where Brawn and Trailbreaker were sitting, studying the map of the Rocky's. Seaspray was also standing close by as he and Bumblebee had just been speaking.

"Brawn was just telling me he had the idea of taking Trailbreaker out on a patrol in a moutain region on this continent to see how well they can handle extreme off road conditions. I think it is a good idea to let them test out just how far they can push their earth alt-modes. Also, I have given Seaspray permission to conduct daily sweeps of the lake just to keep an optic out for anything suspcious. So if it is alright with you Ironhide I will go ahead and give them permission to head on out."

Bumblebee then grinned a bit at the old 'Bot.

"And if it isn't to much trouble I wouldn't mind going out to see if I can keep up with Brawn and Trailbreaker."

Command Center

After speaking to Seapray, Ironhide could of almost predicted Bumblebee to jump in with another suggestion. Well, the yellow bot was right: there WERE some cranky gear shafts getting clogged up. He turned to him as he continued to deliberate this, and after a few moments, nodded.

"Sounds like a plan Bumblebee. However, i've got a bit of another thing fer everyone ter do on top of that.." he said, as he idly picked up the data pad he'd left on the arm of his console, placing it in a hip compartment for future analysis and eventual placement back in the pad bin for reassignment. "I've bin lookin' at our energy reserves, and i 'ate ter say it, we're getting 'ter the point where we're runnin' a lil' on empty. Now, i need 'ter nag Skids about some of that intelligence he's been gatherin', but i reckonin' if whilst you lot are out there, an' i'm figurin' yer choosin this place 'cause it's remote, that it might be a good place ter try and harvest some energy. Hell, might even set up a small outpost if you lot figure we'll have some room up there. However, that 'aint gonna happen until Jazz is back online and tickin' like a well oiled machine, so i 'aint lettin' yer out just yet. I'm not seperatin' the team when we dont even know what sorta party the 'cons are plannin' fer this thing called 'Christmas' " The evident disappointment was evident on the other Autobot's face, two which he added; "an' don' worry, we'll get that little trip of yours up and over before you 'can say decepticons.."

He paused for a minute, and infact, noticed Skids was around on the deck. Good, perhaps finally his incessant focus on what the meatbags outside listened to and watched could potentially come up trumps, what with what he'd been considering. However, Jazz's information came up first and foremost right now.

"As fer the patrols, send me a rota and i'll look inter it. May even 'ave ter split the Twins up. They 'aint gonna be too happy about that, i reckon.."

From where Skids had been standing and waiting patiently to speak with Bumblebee, he jumped in surprise at Ironhide's outburst and looked a bit sheepish. He had noticed himself how busy the Command Deck was, but since he rarely came up here, he wasn't aware that it wasn't always this busy. He filed that new revelation away in his processor and listened in quietly and curiously to Ironhide and Bumblebee's conversation.

When he head Ironhide starting to talk about him, Skids straightened a little instinctively and felt slightly nervous. He was always glad for a chance to have his information prove useful, but having to make a report to a non-scientist was always at least slightly daunting. After all, a fellow scientist would often be willing to listen and think about any bit of data you shared just solely out of sheer curiosity, even if there was no other reason. But people who weren't scientists many times needed as much persuading that the information was worthwhile as they did explaining (and often needed more of that explaining than a scientist would, as well).

"Feel free to 'nag' me about my findings all you need to, sir," Skids responded in a polite tone, when he noticed that Ironhide had both registered his presence and stopped speaking to Bumblebee, at least for the moment. "I actually have a possible project regarding that intelligence-finding that I wished to speak to you about - and to Bumblebee, also - whenever we have the chance."

It was beautiful to watch. The nonsense that went on between everyone and the way they acted with the command Bots. The cavalier chuckled to himself as he watched Skidsstiffen with the mention of his name. It certainly was a laughable sight. The mech had nothing to worry about, he was one of the foremost scientists on the team and for him to think he wasn’t one to be taken seriously was simply insane.

He had listened idly for far too long. Now was as good as any to make himself known.

“Hey guys, shouldn’t someone be in the med bay with Jazzand Ratchet. I mean he is the one with the vital info we need to make a move.”

Hot Rod stood up after switching his station to standby.

“If I were any of you guys I’d be more concerned about what, if anything , the Cons know that we don’t. Now, I…” Hot Rod moved nearer to Iron Hide and Bumblebee as he continued. “suggest that Iron Hide myself and Beehead down to the med bay to be there when Jazz wakes up, and the rest of you hold down the fort.”

Feeling good about his suggestions, the young Bot crossed his arms over his chest and smiled as he waited for Iron Hide to agree with him.

Repair Bay

Smokescreen stood quietly as Jazz lay inert on a repair table. His friend was in bad shape after that skirmish with the ‘cons. However, if any ‘bot could fix Jazz and bring him out of stasis lock it was Ratchet. The white medic was the best of the best and the only one capable of repairing the kind of extensive damage that Jazz currently had. Smokey knew this better than most, his spark having been saved more than once by the medical officer.

Smokescreen remembered one time in particular. On a planet called Darius-7, the diversion expert had been caught in a Decepticon ambush and was severely injured, losing his entire arm during the battle. Like Jazz, Smokey had fallen into stasis lock where he remained for many cycles before Ratchet was finally able to get him back online. The first thing the red and blue ‘bot saw when he awakened was the white medic’s wide smile gazing down upon him. From that moment on, Smokey considered Ratchet to be a miracle worker and would trust him with the spark of any Autobot, including his own.

The arrival of Wheeljack awoke Smokescreen from his daydream. The inventor had been led to med bay by a trail of fluid that was leaking out of Jazz’s severed leg. “Yeah, the Decepticons messed Jazz up pretty bad,” Smokey replied to a shocked Wheeljack. “He’s stuck in stasis lock, but at least his spark is safe, which is one thing we can be thankful for I guess. Windcharger and I were just standing vigil, waiting for Ratchet to finish working on him.”

Command Deck

Trailbreaker continued studying the topographical map of the Rockies on Brawn’s monitor as Ironhide shouted to the others about loitering around the deck. It was never wise to agitate the old red mech. He was a no nonsense kind of ‘bot who expected you to be working and not just standing around doing nothing. Thankfully, ‘Breaker knew this all too well, and had quickly found something to do before being distracted by his buddy, Brawn.

Trailbreaker then turned to listen as Bumblebee asked Ironhide about letting them out on their little excursion they were planning. The Autobot commander seemed receptive to the idea, but ultimately rejected it for the time being. This really didn’t come as any surprise to the black mech considering the state Jazz was currently in and since the Decepticons seemed to be up to something.

“Well, looks like our little trip will have to wait awhile,” ‘Breaker said quietly to Brawn. “Shame, too. I was looking forward to getting out and testing my new fuel cap.” The defensive strategist then turned his attention back to his own computer terminal where the test simulation was still running on the Ark-19’s weapons systems.

Command deck

Ironhide sagely turned and listened to Skid's response. Well, he figured the mech would be eagerly jumping on any opportunity to put his long hours of seemingly 'useless' research to good use. Not that he considered it as such. Right now he would take whatever information he could get, from whatever source. That was how desperate for information he was.

It was at that point that Hot Rod voiced the opinion he had been considering for some time. He had to wonder, how [i]was[i] Ratchet doing down there?

Slowly easing his creaking chassis out of the command chair, he steped down and onto the main deck, giving himself a brief stretch to ease his creaking joints.

"Noted Hot Rod. I also want a strike team assembled in case we need ter go in fast 'an hard, an' i want you to lead it. Get the twins, i'm sure they won't mind a scrap. Be ready to deploy at a moment's notice. Bumblebee, i might need you with 'em as well for reconnaissance"

He then turned and stomped towards the main doors to the Command center.

"However, i say we go down and see if Ratchet's worked one of his miracles again.. Skids, keep me posted about yer findins'. Bumblebee, give Seaspray the lowdown on what's 'appenin right now. Everyone else, get back ter work. Hot Rod, you're with me..."

As he opened up the doors, he also figured that perhaps they'd need to do something rather.. drastic to get the information from Jazz, probably before they could get him out of stasis lock. Time to call in Wheeljack.

>>>Wheeljack, report ter the medbay, and bring yer kit..<<< he stated simply, before walking out into the corridor.

Command Deck

"Sure thing Ironhide, I'm ready and able to go as soon as you say so."

Bumblebee said with a nod as he watched his command 'Bot leave the command deck for the medbay with Hot Rod in tow. The yellow minibot then turned to Seaspray, who was still waiting near by.

"Well not a whole lot has happened since we got here. We've mostly been conducting our regular operations of keeping ourselves hidden, observing the natives, and scouting for the Decepticons. I managed to locate their main base not long after we arrived, and Jazz followed up by infiltrating the 'Cons. He managed to recover some intelligence, but before he could be recovered the 'Cons detected him and sent Laserbeck and Thundercracker after him. Ironhide deployed Sideswipe and Sunstreaker to rescue him, but they were only able to reach Jazz and get him back after he had gone into stasis lock. Now we are waiting for him to recover so we can learn what he got from the 'Cons. Until then I guess the ball is in their court, to use a human phrase."

After giving Seaspray an update of the situation Bumblebee crossed the command deck to his station and took a seat. He was starting to feel on edge, he had a growing sensation of uneasiness since Jazz got back. He had a buzzing in his processor that told him the Decepticons were going to try something soon.

Medbay

>>>Wheeljack, report ter the medbay, and bring yer kit..<<<

>>>Got it Ironhide. I'm already in medbay, but I just need a few astroseconds to get back to the lab and grab my kit. Anything else I should get while I'm there?<<<

The Autobot engineer said into his communicator as he turned and walked back out into the corridors of Ark-19. He wasn't sure what exactly his commander was going to have him do, but Wheeljack had an idea. If his hunch was right he wasn't sure if it was a wise move, but at the same time the engineer knew Ironhide wasn't one to make risky decisions recklessly.

The lab was still empty when Wheeljack walked back in. He made his way over to his work bench and grabbed his work kit, and he was about to leave again when he stopped. He turned back to his work area and grabbed an empty kit and filled it with a number of other tools and devices he used very rarely and thought he would not have to. Wheeljack then left the computer lab once again and returned to medbay where he waited for Ironhide.

Corridors

>>>Anythin' fer tappin' into laser cores an' memory banks Wheeljack. Yer know i'm not a tech head besides from jury riggin', get creative!!<<< Ironhide barked back into his comm link sighing and shaking his head. This really wasn't going to be pleasant. He didn't like poking inside bot's heads, least of all when they were stasis-locked, but he figured that if need be, if Jazz was going to remain out of commission for some time, it would be necessary to extract the information whilst it was still valid. It didn't sit well with his spark, but he considered it a necessary evil.

Jazz would understand, he hoped he would be able to explain it to him later, whilst the bot had more cognition than what the humans called a 'vegetable'

Medbay

>>>Yeah, I thought you were asking about something like that.<<< Wheeljack replied to Ironhide as he retuned to the medbay. >>>I got something here I came up with a long time ago to try and make interrogating prisoners easier, but there are a number of problems with it I have never been able to figure out. The best way to describe it is sort of like mining equipment. Now it doesn't actually make a hole in the subjects head, but that is the basic idea. Anyway, when activated the device allows the operator to search through the subjects memory banks to find the specific bank of memory where the desired information is located.<<< Wheeljack then let out a heavy sigh. >>>At least that is how it was supposed to operate in theory. When actually used it can be very difficult to locate the desired information, and the shock to the subjects system can be harmful. There is the possibility that we can wipe Jazz's memory clean, or cause him permanent brain damage. I have a few adjustments that might make using it easier and safer, but not by much. It should be ready to go by the time you get here.<<<

Wheeljack set up his tools on a near by table and removed the parts for the device he had just mentioned to Ironhide and assembled it. It looked like a strange cap that went over a 'Bots head and had a control device that was carried by the operator. He then began opening panels and used his tools to add new parts and to reconnect circuits.

Smokescreen listened intently as Wheeljack spoke to Ironhide over his commlink, describing a device that sounded almost medieval in nature. Wipe Jazz’s memory? Permanent brain damage? Has Wheeljack lost a gasket? These were the thoughts that sped though the diversion expert’s mind as the inventor finished speaking and moved over to a nearby table.

Smokescreen liked Wheeljack. He was a good friend and a great fighter, but his inventions were not as reliable. Sometimes they worked the way they should, but more often than not they didn’t function properly. This was a cause for great concern especially when dealing with the memory core of a fellow Autobot. And what was even more worrisome was that Wheeljack, himself, even admitted that his mind-probing device might not work right. Of course, Smokey realized that this was a desperate situation. They needed to know what the ‘Cons were up to and only Jazz had that information locked away in his brain. Without it, the Decepticons could potentially gain the upper hand here on Earth, perhaps even causing great damage and harm to this world and it’s inhabitants.

The red and blue mech walked over and stood next to Wheejack as the inventor pieced together the cap-like device. “Are you sure this is really necessary, ‘Jack? I know we need the info that Jazz gathered, but maybe we should wait and see if Ratchet can get him up and running again before you go tampering with his mind,” Smokescreen suggested in a concerned tone. He knew full well that it may not make any difference. Ironhide was on his way, and if he wanted the data out of Jazz’s head, he’d get it no matter what Smokey thought of the situation. The diversionary tactician could only hope that Wheeljack’s invention would work and not make matters worse.

Repair bay

The double doors hissed opened as Ironhide stomped into the room, his servos creaking slightly. Damn the energon shortage. If he had additional power to divert to his tertiary systems, his lubricant dispensers would be online and keeping his joints in better condition than he was keeping them at the presense. Still, replacing them every vorn was more cost effective than using the lubricant. Typical really. It was the little things that got to him.

Which was ironic considering he felt more aggitated by that problem than the big one they were confronted with. He knew what they had to do, and so he was going to do something about it. If Jazz lost his memories, required additional repair time or whatever, he would hold himself personally responsible. But it would be necessary. He was just surprising himself through the lack of... unease he was feeling. 'Damnit... the Pit take me.. i mustof made this sorta decisions thousands of times before.. am i finally losin' me touch?' he thought to himself gloomily, as he approached the medical table where Jazz's disembowled remains were being hurriedly worked on by Ratchet.

(ooc: Hope folks don't mind me NPCing him for a bit)

"Ratchet.. status.." he said quickly, moving towards the table, turning to give Smokescreen and Wheeljack a nod

"Well, his spark's stable, i can happily say" the medic replied, his hands deftly transforming to and fro into the various tools that he used to patch Jazz up. At the present, Jazz's 'helmet' had been removed , and he was currently working on the delicate laser core circuitry that surrounding both his laser core and memory banks, providing conduits between them, shielding and connections to his sensory apparatus. Ironhide nodded, and continued to watch him work. He was going to have to take it a bit easy with his old friend and partner, he knew Ratchet wouldn't agree to what he was about to do, but he had to somehow convince him to allow him to do it without pulling rank.

"And his laser core?" Ironhide added. Ratchet was an unparalleled medical officer. Hell, he knew Ironhide's chassis better than anyones, oweing to the sheer amount of jury-rigging he had inside him based on the fact that his original componants simply weren't manufactured before. There was only one Autobot who had it worse than him, and that was Kup

"Undamaged. A few loose circuits. He may suffer from short term memory loss as alot of his peripheral databanks were shaken whilst he was being taken offline, but in the long term? He'll be fine."

"Good... Eta to gettin' him online?"

"Well...." Ratchet began, sighing a little. "It's going to take at least a few mega cycles to get him booted up. A few more in a CR chamber for him to be ship-shape.."

There was a visable pause when Ironhide braced himself. Ratchet was not going to like this, not one bit.

"In that case.. i need yer to let Wheeljack try and tap into his databanks once you've secured those..."

"OUT OF THE SLAGGING QUESTION IRONHIDE!!" Ratchet replied, his processors straining significantly "You have to be out of your damned mind if i'm going to let anyone interfere with my patient..." If anyone was looking particularly close, they'd of noticed that Ironhide actually grimaced at the onslaught of Ratchet's protectiveness.

"Look, Ratchet... i'd rather not interfere with yer work, but this is important.. Jazz may know somethin' vital about the decepticon's plans. We can't pretend ter just assume the best and not take that chance. If that infer'mation will help preserve the sparks of this ship and stop the 'cons fer good, i think even Jazz would agree the risk would be worth it.."

>>>"Please don't make me pull rank on yer Ratchet.. i've 'ad an 'ard enough time makin' this decision as it is..."<<< he added, by private communique

There was a single, long, hard stare between the two mechs, their faces locked.

"Fine.." Ratchet replied, glancing over to Smokescreen and WheelJack. "But i'm assisting Wheeljack, and if there's ONE sign of an overload or whatever it is 'Jack's doing, i'm cutting you off..."

Ironhide nodded, sighing in slight relief. Well that was easier than it could of been. Longer, but hell, he didn't mind that so much. As long as they had the information. Plus, having Ratchet working with Wheeljack would be a bonus.

He hoped nothing was about to go wrong...

Medbay

It was silent after the exchange between Ironhide and Ratchet, the mood in the medbay was sombre. Every 'Bot in the room knew the implications of what could possible happen, and Wheeljack felt more then just a little nervous. He had seen what could happen if this device didn't work, even when Decepticon prisoners were hurt as a result of using this invention the engineer had felt a pain of sympathy. Now he was about to use a potentially dangerous device on a valued friend and comrade, and Wheeljack felt like he was in some sort of over-energizsed stupor as he stood up, locking a memory core into the control panel.

"I'm ready." He announced simply, without any of his usually preamble and explanation. His voice was also heavy, none of the normal excitement of using an invention was there. He crossed the room to stand next to the deactivated Jazz, and turned to Ratchet and pushed a device into his hand. "If at any time you feel the need to cut this off hit that switch and it will fry this things circuts and end what it is doing, hopefully before any serious damage is caused."

Wheeljack then turned back to Jazz and then placed the device over the top of his head and flicked a switch. Taking the control device in hand he readied himself.

"Primus forgive me if this fails."

Was all Wheeljack said, more so to himself, and then he activated the control panel. Jazz's body noticeably convulsed as Wheeljack's invention suddenly invaded his memory and began to shake slightly. The engineer put all of his focus onto the scrolling data on the panel as he kept making adjustments, digging his way through Jazz's memory. He was expecting any minute to start hearing the monitoring equipment hooked up to Jazz to start screaming as something went horribly wrong, but so far nothing happened. On the monitor screen scrolled Jazz's memories, his thoughts, feelings, everything that as in each memory bank that Wheeljack searched.

Since it was a recent memory that Wheeljack was looking for the engineer only searched Jazz's most recent memory banks. Jazz's body suddenly lurched, his right arm flailing out and knocking over a tray of equipment, and Wheeljack feared something had gone wrong, but so far nothing. Then he saw what they were looking for, and Wheeljack hit the download button and stored every ounce of data of recovered intelligence from Jazz's most recent mission. One the download was complete the engineer didn't even hesitate for an astrosecond and he extracted from Jazz's memory banks as quickly, and safely as possible. Once he was safely out of Jazz's head Wheeljack switched off the device and unloaded the memory and turned to Ironhide.

"I- I did it." The engineer said in a voice of mixed relief and disbelief. "I did it, I got all the data Jazz recovered from the Decepticon base, and I think I did so with out any serious or long term effects. The data I downloaded might of been wiped from his memory, but I think that is the worst we can expect, of coruse I will fully encourage Ratchet to give him a check up, but the monitoring equipment I installed in the control panel didn't indicate any problems."

Wheeljack pressed the data core into Ironhide's hand and then turned back to Jazz and removed his memory drill and carried back to where his kits were. The engineer sat down and stared off into space as he calculated out how lucky he just got before he disassembled the device and put his tools away.

Med Bay

Hot Rod quickly follows Iron Hide out to the med bay. He had wanted to say something to Bumblebeeabout getting the twins ready to depart, but that would have to wait a bit. It looked like he lit the fire under Iron Hide’s chassis and he’d have to follow suit. Oh well, this was more important anyway.

Hot Rod sighed as the small group made its way to the berth Jazzwas laying upon. He was in bad shape. Thundercracker had done a number on their friend and comrade. Primus be willing, Hot Rod was going to have it out with that glorified flier when he got the chance.

The cavalier waited in the wings while Iron Hide and Ratchet has it out about whether or not Jack could bring the specialist out of stasis lock long enough to learn what the Cons were up to.

Skids nodded at Ironhide's command. "Understood, sir, I will keep you posted when you're available. And let me know if there's anything you specifically think might be helpful." He watched as Ironhide and Hot Rod left to head to the MedBay, and hoped they'd be able to bring good news back with them when they returned.

In the meantime, he waited patiently as Bumblebee brought Seaspray up to speed. After he finished and took his seat, Skids approached him, figuring that he might as well try bringing up Wheeljack's device. He had always respected the minibot's intelligence and talent, and was curious to hear what his thoughts on the project's ultimate practicality might be. (The fact that Bumblebee was one of the smaller bots never even registered on Skids' radar, for the most part... it wasn't as if he had any major physical prowess or imposing presence to boast about himself, after all...)

"If you're not busy with anything at the moment, Bumblebee, I had been meaning to bring up with you a potential project related to my monitoring, as it may have some possible security problems if implemented."

Command Deck

Bumblebee had been pacing the command deck slowly as he patiently waited for word on Jazz. It felt like an eternity had passed since Ironhide and Hot Rod had left to go and check on him. The yellow minibot was concerned about his friend, from what he had heard the news was not encouraging at all, but at the same time he had heard of other Autobot's who had recovered from worse and Jazz was one tough 'Bot. However, Bumblebee also knew many 'Bots who had died from serious wounds when it was generally believed they could fight their way into the Pit and back again on their own with barely a scratch.

When Skids spoke to him the yellow minibot looked over his shoulder at the talled 'Bot.

"I can't really give the go ahead to anything to big." He said with a shrug. "But if you tell me about it I can take a look and run it past Ironhide and see if he thinks we can run it."

Smokescreen cringed as Jazz’s body convulsed in response to Wheeljack’s mind probing device. He didn’t like what was happening, not at all. However, it wasn’t his call to make. Ironhide had arrived and demanded that the procedure be done, regardless of Ratchet’s objections. Smokey had remained silent during the confrontation between the commander and the medic, knowing his opinion mattered little in this situation. Technically, the diversion expert should be down in the computer labs keeping an eye on the human internet for possible virus incursions, but he had become sidetracked by Jazz’s current state. So, Smokey wasn’t going to push his luck by drawing any more attention to himself. He didn’t want to end up alone down in the labs while his friend was still in stasis lock.

Astroseconds passed as the mind probing continued. Smokescreen was about to give in and voice his own objection when Wheeljack finally finished. Handing a data core to Ironhide, the inventor retreated to the table where his kits were sitting. Smokey let out a sigh of relief before approaching the white mech. “You did good, ‘Jack. Real good,” the red and blue Autobot said quietly, placing a hand on Wheeljack’s shoulder. “I’m sorry I doubted you. Why don’t we go down and get a drink of energon while Ratchet finishes up with Jazz? What do you say?”

Command Deck

Trailbreaker watched as the test simulation on the Ark-19’s weapons systems completed its run. He carefully scanned the final report to make sure everything checked out okay and found nothing out of the ordinary. The ship’s weapons were operating at optimal capacity and would be ready for any attack by the Decepticons.

Looking over his shoulder, the black mech noticed that Bumblebee was pacing nearby. Since Ironhide was not on deck, Trailbreaker decided to inform the yellow minibot of his findings. “Bumblebee, I don’t mean to bother you, but I finished running my test simulation on the ship’s weapons systems. I have the results here on my screen if you would like to take a look.”

"That's fine, all I was looking for was an analysis from you. There's no sense in bothering the commander if the idea isn't viable from a practical perspective, after all. And," Skids smiled a little, "It might take your mind off of things for a little while."

He handed the datapad over to Bumblebee. "There's a full description on the pad itself, but in essence, it would be a more powerful communications monitoring device.

"Right now I can monitor all of the Earth signals boosted for broadcast - news reports, radio and television stations, and such - fairly easily. But I believe this would enable us to pick up even weaker point-to-point communications. It could be useful for if we ever need to be informed of events while they're happening, if any humans are contacting each other about it, or for picking up information that will never end up on public broadcast for whichever reason. Considering the Decepticons' love for instigating unrest among the locals to serve their purposes, I could see all of that being useful.

"But the potential downside is that the signal strength required may render us too visible to the Decepticons."

Repair bay

Ironhide stood impassively as Wheeljack worked, plugging his equipment into Jazz's memory banks. As much as part of him resented having to do this, the part of him that worked with his gut was telling the other bit to pipe down. However even he couldn't hide the slight wince as Jazz began convulsing as the data download began. Finally however, the other mech's ordeal was over, as Wheeljack uttered his disbelief that he'd actually pulled it off, and from what he had said soon after, without a hitch. The mech then pressed a data pad into his hand as he then turned to sit back to the side. He'd double check on Wheeljack later, but for now, he had more pressing matters.

A digit clicked one of the small buttons on the side of the device, and he began to read, the faint sky blue glow shining off his armoured chassis, his blue optics focused upon it. He read quickly, and if the others were paying attention his facial expression moved in such a way that they could run through his thought processes as he was reading.

First, there was annoyance. Jazz going through the usual run checks and routines, outlining objectives etc. Then, there was surprise, as the Intelligence officer must of felt when he saw the data. And then... a grimace of surprise and shock.

This mission had just got a lot more complicated.

"Oh slag..." he muttered, before looking up to the others. "I want everyone in the mess hall, ASAP!" he barked, before activating his comm.

>>>I want everyone in the mess hall for an' emergency meetin'. That includes you too Sunstreaker. Anyone NOT there in two clicks is gonna get keelhauled outta the ship an' sent for a swim, now move!<<<

Clicking his comm off, he then looked over to Ratchet, his face looking hardened. He had that usual steel in his eye where he normally had it when he was quickly formulating plans and strategies.

"Ratchet, don't worry yerself about getting there straight away. Just get 'ol Jazz in a state where the CR chamber can fix 'im up and come along when yer able. I'll keep a comm up whilst you're workin.."

He sighed, as he turned back to the data pad. Prime wasn't going to be too happy about this. The Tyrest Accord was there for a reason, and if what the decepticons had found was any indication, the two sides on the planet were going to find out the hard way. Of course, he needed more information, but that gut was telling him it was a problem that needed dealing with, promto

Repair Bay

Ratchet finally looked up.

"Good job there, Wheeljack," he said, a bit flustered. He turned to Smokescreen. "That's actually not a bad idea. Don't worry buddy I can handle it from here. Go take a break; you earned it."

His face plate soured up as he turned to Ironhide.

"Be glad we're from the same protopod, because I..." he said to the other 'bot. He cut himself off as soon as he saw Ironhide's face change. "Slag"

He waited until Ironhide was done, recognizing too well the expression he'd seen too many times.

"I'll let you know when he's stable," Beginning to pull his tools together, Ratchet straightened up. "Just if you ever try pulling what you did here again, you'd better hope the next time you came in for repairs you were in stasis." He cracked a smile. "Now get out of here."

Repair bay

Ironhide cracked a slight smirk and nod towards Ratchet. He knew what the mech was like. At times he could be as grouchy as he often was.

"Thats IF there's a next time pard'ner. I don't plan on gettin' slagged anytime soon." he replied, before turning and activating the door controls, opening the panels. "Now git goin' Autobots.. before i 'ave ter say it a second time!" he replied, as he turned back and strode out of the repair bay, heading towards the mess hall.

Repair Bay

Although Wheeljack was still trying to recover from the sheer shock of what had just went on, he jumped to his feet when he heard Ironhide bark his orders. The engineer had been around the old 'Bot long enough to know the tone of voice that pretty much said he would kick your aft if you didn't get going right away. of course the fact that he said it to also helped.

Wheeljack quickly put his tools back into their kits before he made his way to the mess hall to wait with the rest of the crew.

Command Deck

Bumblebee had just accepted the data pad from Skids when Ironhide came over the ships comm. The data pad suddenly forgotten the yellow minibot put it down before turning to face the others already on the command deck.

"Alright guys, you heard Ironhide, get on down to the mess hall now, sounds like the big guy has something important to say.

Bumblebee didn't wait to see who answered and turned and walked off the command deck and made his way to the mess hall.

Skids stared at the datapad Bumblebee had left on the console. He considered for a moment whether or not to leave it, before finally deciding that he didn't want to risk it getting lost or misplaced. He picked it up again and tucked it away in one of his compartments, figuring that he'd try presenting it later... again.

He stared up at the ceiling, shook his head a little, and said, "Why?" in supplication, before leaving the Command Deck to follow Bumblebee down and into the Mess Hall per Ironhide's orders.

Smokescreen’s offer to Wheeljack went unanswered as Ironhide abruptly ordered everyone down to the Mess Hall for an emergency meeting. The Autobot commander had seen what was stored in Jazz’s memory banks, and he was none too pleased. In fact, the old red mech seemed very concerned and worried about whatever he had just learned. The Decepticons must be up to something pretty bad to get Ironhide all worked up.

“Well ‘Jack, I guess we’ll have to postpone the energon drinks until later,” Smokescreen said to the inventor. The diversionary tactician then turned and approached Jazz, who still lay motionless on the table. “Take care, old friend,” Smokey whispered before making his way to the door and exiting the Repair Bay after Ironhide.

Command Deck

Trailbreaker had just finished running the diagnostic on the ship’s weapons systems and was waiting for Bumblebee to take a look at the results when Ironhide’s orders came over the comm. “Sounds serious,” ‘Breaker remarked as he stood from his chair. Without hesitation, the black mech quickly followed Bumblebee off the command deck.

Corridors

Smokescreen made his way through the hallways of the ship, following Ironhide and the others who were a short distance ahead. As the red and blue Autobot rounded a corner, he ran directly into Trailbreaker with a clank. “Whoa!” Smokey said as he lost his balance and fell hard on his aft.

“Hey, sorry about that Smokey, ol’ buddy!” ‘Breaker responded. He reached down and helped his Autobot friend to his feet. “Didn’t see ya there. You okay?”

Smokescreen brushed himself off. “Yeah, no harm done. Just a slightly banged up ego.”

‘Breaker chuckled. “Well, that’s good. An ego is easy to mend. So, what’s going on anyway? Ironhide sounded serious over the comm.”

“Well, I just came from the repair bay where Jazz is stuck in stasis lock. It all has something to do with the data Wheeljack was able to recover from his memory banks,” Smokescreen spoke as the two mechs began walking again. “My guess is the ‘Cons are up to something big. I just don’t know what exactly.”

“Well then we should hurry the frag up and find out what’s going on,” Trailbreaker suggested. With that said, the two Autobots quickened their pace towards the Mess Hall.
