I'm back, and with more Microns.
Today, you;re gonna get something of a LIVE view, because as I write this, the Micron in question is to my immediate right, drying.
So who am I painting?
Heavyweight.
Who? You know, the bubblegum guy that comes with the Botcon 2015 Boss Megatron. Yeah. When Botcon revealed that to us, I said "That's Awesome. Why didn't I think of that? Why is he PINK?" Nothing against the color pink, but for Megatron? I get it that he's supposed to match Meg's Energon Mace from the G1 cartoon, but that mace always struck me as a glowing purple. Although as bright as it is, it's hard to call it purple in some shot. And since transparent plastic, the usual go-to for energy weapons was out, and I wanted a mace for my Generations Megatron, I found a B.H on sale at BBTS for 6 and change. He padded my order for the Fembots and Protectobots.
The Color Purple:
I decided to reuse the Grape color I used for Razor-Sharp. Saves money, and not bad. It's a little dark, compared to a glowing energon thingy, but then it's also important to remember this is not a glowing Energon thingy.
With my Arms Microns, I like to paint on the Sprues. In cases of 2 colors, I will try to cut the sprue around the parts to make two pieces, or pop larger pieces loose and paint them. The nice thing about painting with the Sprue, besides keeping everything together, is that if you're smart and don't paint a small corner, you can turn the sprue over and paint both sides almost simultaneously. The downside, you'll need to touch-up any flashing after you cut the pieces, but that's small potatoes.
Heavyweight looks like that on a Sprue. LOTTA Purple.
By luck, the same Itime I bought him I bought a Jida to do as Lionizer. They have identical chest crystals and opposing factions, so I can swithc faction stickers and crystals. BH's original orange makes more sense with Lionizer's colors. And when I put the green crystal, BH started looking like another Megatron's sword. Which is awesome.
After I cut him from the sprue, I assembled him and transformed him. I don't see detail colors until I have him whole and the figure can tell ME what to paint. Which is what Heavyweight did for me. I knew I wanted green details to match his chest crystal. I didn't know I wanted them on the flail. He told me that. He also told me to do his nosepiece in green. I did those with a small paintbrush. the green is an acrylic "Spring Green."
The pink splotches are camera flash. There are places where you can see his original blue. I'll touch those up soon.
Next, I knew I wanted Silver to detail. But my Silver is not with me. He said "I want my gunbarrels Black." "Ooohkay. I said. Black I had. I did his armports and Shoulderpads to round out both halves of him.
At this point, I started getting a Transtech Shockwave vibe from him. We've lost a lot of the purple, but I think I'm okay with that.
More to come!
