Hello again!
By now, I've posted several Arms Micron figures. Scalpel, Shuffler, Sights, but now it's time finally for me to reveal the original inspiration.
By that, I mean I think I came up with the idea to use the Mantis as Scalpel before I really tapped into the potential of the Arms Microns. But I've been wanting a Razor-Sharp for Botcon Banzaitron for a very long time, and a few weeks back finally presented me with a Shining Gra for a swallowable, if not ideal price. Banzai-tron, finally has his crab.
I think this is my favorite of my customs to date, even beating out Scalpel, slightly, who actually got some real customizing. In part, I think it's because a number of things just went right for Razor-Sharp. The paint din't come out too think or runny (his toes a little, but negligible), and wehen I saw how he transformed, I was horrified the slide joint would eat paint in a heartbeat. *knock knock*, so far I've been wrong. And he's got such a fun colorscheme.
Speaking of. If you can call it a gripe, I chose to go more G1 look. The Botcon Banzai toy uses grey instead of black, and a much different purple than in G1, resulting in a mis-match between Razor Sharp and his targetmaster. But I much prefer these colors.
I decided to trim in silver around the blade, and a few key spots to break the solid purple. He didn't want a lot of trim in my eyes, but he needed just a pinch of color. Unlike the Arms Micron-standard single red optic, something told me to use yellow. And pulling a page from TFSS Gatoraider, I painted the fronts of his hinge yellow to simulate two "standard" optics. ot sure the illusiion psses, but the yellow still looks right to me without being overkill.
A Merc' with a soft side?
I see two distinct blasters in Razor Sharp, and a long-handled short bladed axe mode, depending on which claw is "forward". One is an energy blaster, the other a projectile rifle. I prefer the former, but let me know which you like.
With Razor-Sharp, there's nothing I would o much differently. And with Razor-Sharp, my project list diminishes. From here, I'd like to do Lionizer for Cyb Smokescreen, and turn Zamu into Top-Heavy. In the larger figures, I'd like to do Heatrock, Skyfeather, and Universe Fire Convoy, but with the larger figures comes a larger hesitation. I'd like a saw for TAV Roadblock, but since we already did that with TFSS Frenzy, I think I might stick with giving him a Mechtech weapon. So if this is the note I end on for a while, I am glad, cause I think it's a good note. Thanks for looking!
