This. This mold went to make great individual figures, where they are great in bot and alt mode. There may be 2 of the same molds but i guess it still works pretty well, and all the figures are very solid in all modes

There isn't one yet. If there was, I'd have one. I'm sure it'll be front-page news as soon as there is one, though.

I think saying Energon Bruticus is better is a nice mistake.
First 2 bots share molds. They hardly look like their G1 counterparts, especially Bruticus. And they have very easy alt-modes and transformation.

It's like making a combiner out of spy changers and calling it better then Movie deluxe cars combined. Everything pre-movie is so less complex (exept for the Car Brothers and and beast wars of course). And a less complex transformer makes a great combiner limb.

My vote goes to FOC Bruticus anyway :)

Still, for the 3 molds that this set has, they look very solid and great in all modes (Maybe except combined mode, since I don't have the FP set).

That Vortex mold is easily one of my favorite scout molds... Sure, they aren't G1 accurate, but to be fair they are based on the Superlink animation models, and they look rather close.

FOC bruicus's individual bot modes look abit weak, with scrawny and hollow limbs... Their vehicle modes look pretty terrible too IMO. Game accurate, but terrible. :-( Maybe it's just hasbro's bad paint and the Takara TG one will look way better.

@Gauntlet101010 I personally like this mold better. However this mold as been a big sell mostly because of a set of upgrades released by Fansproject. This video will explain everything. Get your cash saved.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfKmtIXhwCM Wonder if a G2 version may come next..(Flameblast and Warcry seem like G2 versions of Blastoff and Swindle)

Yeah, the FOC version has its positive aspects... good size, holds together well, nice head sculpt... but its flaws really detract. Odd proportions are at the top of the list. Arms look really long and awkward and one is longer than the other. Individual bots are the wrong sizes, with Swindle being much taller than Onslaught... and many of them feeling hollow. Weapon is really awkward.

The old Energon version is clearly a low-budget combiner solution, with just 3 molds, but its proportions and playability are there. With the add-ons addressing the unsightly Jolly Rancher hands and adding the missing molds, it's a real contender for the better toy. I can't recommend those add ons more. Those are fantastic. (Foot swivel for the win.)

BUT, I do really like getting Cybertronian molds finally, and some game accurate toys for a change. Brawl is actually a favorite... all parts utilized, no "shell", good proportions, nice color accents...looks good in both forms and actually resembles a hover tank nicely... . (Whereas Swindle resembles a futuristic penny-loafer). Onslaught is a good toy, but relies on his weapon too much in his alt mode. Individually, flyers are pretty good, but their colors are awful like oatmeal. Plus they all feel a little cheap. I've never felt that before about actual Hasbro toys. Plastic feels like a KO at times. (Jazz was worst.)

Here's hoping Grimlock, Starscream, Sideswipe... all raise the bar a bit from here. As is, I'm starting to get nostalgic for the good ole days... when I had to walk to school, plastic was sturdy, and deluxes were a head taller.

Oh, I have the RotF version of this and the FP add ons since they first came out. But I don't have the FoC figures. And, as much as people hate on FoC they seem to hate on non-upgraded Energon Bruticus as well, so I figured it was worth asking which was better.

I'll get FoC Bruticus eventually, but I'm not going to bother getting either exclusive. The retail versions are good enough for me, even if the colors are absolutely terrible.

You've gotta be $hittin' me??!! :-x

Does Takara know that the Crossfire 2.0 set is rarer than a virgin in a brothel? For that price I'd expect it to come with FansProject's pieces.

WHARK! Where did this price come from? Can anyone confirm or cite a reference? After import shipping, that's like $200... Which is like... (divide by five)... $40 each, and four of them are BASICS... AND two are repaints!

If I bought this at this price, and then ToysRUs imported it and sold them for $60 a set, I'd lose control ...like a disgruntled orangutan down the rows of the store.

That's BBTS pre-order price, so I expect it to be the closest to the lowest minus a few ebay sellers.

I'd rather have the FP crossfire set for that price.

Their site say the price is just a place holder, that they expect it to go down. Whew.

Woah, I feel less bad about dropping so much on ROTF Bruticus now, even though I don't have Munitioner/Explorer  I would sell my kids for the upgrade, and I don't even have any kids

Yeah, those Munitioner bots were so good, they'd be worth buying even if you had to sell all your other Combaticons to do it.

No, seriously. They're good.

$170 is a little much, I'd admit, but seeing that it will ONLY be available in Asia (extra ten-ish dollars right there) plus import pricing, packaging price, et cetera, it's understandable that it's a little high. I think $120-$140 would be my max price to get him. Honestly, much rather pay that price and get a combiner mold I literally grew up with (but never got, unfortunately) than the FOC mold. Though the FOC mold is pretty darn good in my opinion.
