People way the iphone camera is rubbish but I have a friend who takes amazing shots with his. On the other hand, he IS a very talented photographer.

I am using digital camera too, there are few things I've learned when taking a photo for toy figures, first thing is to set the camera in Macro and second try to experiment with lights, if you can put your camera into a tripod it will be better for a steady shot.

Hmm. That light box looks about the same size as my... cobbled together setup made of cardboard and garbage bags. What light wattage do you use in those lamps though? And what kind of material do you use as backing?

Start by reading this:

iPone camera is not going to give you good indoor pictures over all. You can go really far with a point and shoot camera if you control your arrangement properly.
Take some pics and provide your camera settings. I'll see if there's anything I notice.

These are the pictures taken by my iPhone 4. What do you think? The quality won't be as good as a high quality camera but with proper light (from the second picture you see I only use one lamp), it gets the job done. By the way, I didn't use the build in software but use an app instead. The app is called Camera Awesome and I believe it is free.
