I didn't notice before I got home, but when I bought this figure she didn't have any missiles. I'm not really broken up about it, I probably would have just tossed them in the box I have every other missile anyway. Besides, I think this gun suits her better anyway.

Forgive me if this info exists elsewhere here....but I finally have a good camera (Sony Alpha 230) to take great pictures of my collection. I'm still learning how to use it, and I know its capable of amazing things, so can anyone here help me with some pointers on settings, techniques etc in taking great shots? So far I've only managed to pull off these:

Some of you guys take some amazing shots, any advice would be appreciated.

My word isn't worth much, considering I've never taken a photography class in my life, but shot construction is an important note to make with all things art related. There's a lot of things that fall into that category, but perhaps the most basic is the "Rule of thirds." If you google it I'm sure you can get a better description that I could ever give. It's like Jedi mind magic. Lol. The human mind tends to immediately recognize the Rule of Thirds, even if you don't realize it.

I need to get myself a place to hang a backdrop. Lol. All I have is the top of my dresser, and I don't much care to put tape on the antique mirror hanging above it, especially since it once belonged to my great-grandfather <.<

Yeah...that light box concept is basically all you need. I use one sometimes.

My biggest problem is taking shots with my Iphone. I depend heavily on editing my pics to get light right.

It works sometimes and other times turns bright white backgrounds yellow. It's hard to control. Hence heavy editing and altering brightnesses.
All in all it's trial and error. Good luck.

Good lighting is more important that a good camera.

My advice would be to invest in a light tent, and also off-camera flash is a must in my opinion, or if you are using lights then be prepared to tripod mount your camera to keep the image nice and non-blurry, as the shutter will have to be open quite long. I personally use 3 setups and what MGrotesque said about it being hard to get consistent white is absolutely true. The below 3 pictures are from my small tent, large tent and huge background respectively, and all 3 have very different colour whites.

large tent

My Beast hunters Arcee was pretty loose and had some issues when I opened the box (such as missing missiles). So I had to secure her arms and legs, screw her a bit, and then tighten up her holes. But now she's fit to stand with the rest of my cybertronian biker gang!

Hes a Conversion Metals Car Hummer reshell of the Alternators/Binaltech Hound made by A&L, bought from a very kind Ebayer who bought it from a customizer via TFW2005! Phew!

I shall put some bot mode pics up this afternoon/evening! ;)

I don't know what it is, but there's something hilarious about Beast Hunters Arcee that makes me take pictures.

Arcee: "Kali-ma! Kali-ma!"

Wreck-Gar: "SAFEWORD!!! SAFEWORD!!!"
