Back of the Shelf

Does anyone have that one toy in their collection which despite objectively being really really bad you bought and displayed anyway for some reason, whether it be a specific character or series you like to collect, or childhood nostalgia. I have Armada Side Swipe, a truly awful toy (and character) that I push to the back of the display shelf, but its still a part of the unicron trilogy.. What about you?

Airachinid...yes I know she is a horrible mold and a horrible toy to boot but I got her with kup, and I like to give toys a chance, but she's now hidden away ready for move, then she'll be 'fed' to the Terrorcons under the watchful eye of Predaking.

TFA Sentinal Prime. Such a disappointing figure (minimal pose-ability and loose leg joints), but I only paid $5 for at a convention and I love TFA, so I guess I can't complain too much.

TFP Knockout, too... every time I pick him up I can't help but think of how ugly that mold is >.< Even with the Repro-lables he's terrible! KO is such a fun character, too bad it didn't translate into his toy :<

Even if I don't like a figure, they still get equal billing on the shelves. I work hard at layering and organizing things so everyone at least peeks out. No one is hidden, but if they naturally hide(I'm looking at YOU Camo Tech Batman) is another story.

I am the point where I'm far from a completionist. If I don't want to proudly display it, I usually end up selling it.

However, sometimes I deliberately put something further back on the shelf for scale reasons.

Knockout is really easy to mistransform into robot mode, and looks a lot better when you actually get him transformed properly. Still not as good as he, of all prime characters, should look, still severely lacking in paint apps that he should have, but much better than he looks in most of the photos that I've seen of him.

Of course, it's entirely possibly you do have him transformed right and still don't like him. I don't intend to impugn your transformation skills or opinions, just something I've noticed with that particular figure.

And at least we got KO, I'm still kinda miffed that only Takara had Breakdown (unless you count the tiny Legends one).

I find it hard that I'll buy something I don't want, not anymore at least (there was a phase, admittedly).

I don't have massive displays, by constraints of space and personal preference, so everything I want out, is out, usually as dynamic as possible! Anything that I don't really care for any longer goes in a box, and if it stays there for more than a month or so, it gets sold or given to charity. Keeps the collection clean, too.
