Bad News For Transformers? Maybe...

This tidbit of info comes from a member (AKA: raz) on a Power Rangers board:

As you can see, it says Spider-Man, Avengers and Batman are the big sellers. Followed by Beyblade, WWE and Power Rangers bringing in a steady stream of dough.

TMNT is expected to be big. Roleplay and interactive items seem to be helping sales.

Transformers is mentioned nowhere on there, good or bad, but chances are they fall into a negative category. Most stores, aside from TRU, have no stock of TFs right now and won't restock for at least a month.

That may just because of all that DOTM overstock. So much DOTM crap left...
Plus the damn PRID deluxe wave one that still need to be cleared out.

They wont bring anything new as long that the old stock wont sell, but people already have the old stock and will only buy the new one.

Mexican standoff.

Everybody lose.

I've always seen Transformers as more niche than any of the brands listed. Playing with a batman figure is easy. Playing with a Transformer is far more difficult for anything above a Legends class figure, requiring mechanically-minded children to use them to their full effect.

I agree with what MKALL said. Also, in my area (Central New York) I found that many of the PRiD figures were all but sold out at the Walmarts, Targets, and Kmarts. The Generations figures seemed to stick around longer. And as always, there are still a lot of DOTM in a lot of places. As I've gone hunting at these stores, I've found many parents with their kids shopping specifically for TF Prime. However, all the TMNT at every location was SOLD OUT. Flat out gone and I mean every item relating to them. Turtles are a bit cheaper and as stated above, easier to play with as they don't require as much to think about compared to TFs.

Most of which are riding on the back of 2012 movie releases. WWE are the boys' Barbies, so they'll constantly sell regardless. 2014 can't come soon enough.

It's times like these i feel grateful that every major store around here has a constant stock of TF. May not be the biggest selection, but eh, every store that sells TF has 1st edition bulkhead.

Is Prime a strong selling line?

I don't know, but I have to wonder because it is not on a major network? I mean, I don't even get Hub? Its a great show, I just wonder how much exposure it gets?

Plus prime seems to be a lightly older audience, I don't know, can it cover as many age groups as TMNT.

Of course right now the toys are based on a video game not everyone has either, including little kids?
