Do you realize some people don't WANT a multi-player-exclusive game? Some people (Myself included) prefer a Single Player Campaign.
Hell, that's the only reason I've bought any game ever. Multi-player is only to sweeten the deal.

And you are aware that the opposite opinion exists, yes? Otherwise, how can you account for the success of Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft, EVE and Battlefield? What about Halo 2, which remained the most popular Xbox game until the release of Gears of War (a game developed by a company known for their multiplayer)? What about the success of eSports, CAL/CPL or Major League Gaming?
I like to play against my friends, and in the case of Counter-Strike play at a semi-pro level against good players. Story doesn't botehr me as much beacuse the gamers I fraternize with, we each have our own warstories. Whether it's an ace against a pro team in CS, wrecking a chopper carrying seven people with an escape pod in 2142 or storming the Carentan House of House Guns (tm UL Games Society 2003), there's always something to tell.

And I bought Halo 2 specifically for the story.

Yeah, what a great story. It's inspired me to change the way I write. What I mean is....
