Would be cool to see one in the style of War for Cybertron. How do we get Activision or whoever to hear the fans requests?

Given the number of Universe Cheetors I saw hanging on the shelves for months after it came out, this might be a hard sell.

What I could imagine is some kind of Transformers: Universe game, though, where there is a mini-campaign for each of the major generations of TF and some kind of dimension-hoppin plot.

It would be pretty cool to have a Primes vs. Megatrons deathmatch. Wasn't there a cellphone fighter game that did this?

It seems to me, though, that at some point they will need to have a beast class for each...maybe call it "tracker." Decepticons could get a predacon and an insecticon, autobots could get a dinobot and maybe a cassette.

What is it with Beast Wars that people bring it up?

I though transforming animals was a silly idea, and wouldn't be cool with it. I'm definitely not OK with this before getting a G1 game set on Earth.

Well, for a whole generation of TF fans, animals were pretty much the only things that TF turned into...so they hold the same nostalgia punch for twenty-year olds that G1 bots might hold for 30-year olds.

naw, the hard sell would be because of the first beast wars game for PS1, because it is considered one of the worst transformers games ever. although i'll still take that over beast wars transmetals for N64 (PS1 version was prety good)

I can't disagree much with that...although a whole generation of gamers probably never had to experience the anguish that was Beast Wars. Sloppy controls, nigh impossible platforming, and completely defenseless beast modes that you were forced to transform into at regular intervals...ugh. It was almost as if someone said: Nobody will want to change a giant killer robot into a cat...so we'll make them do it against their will.

It could have been fun to turn into an animal for melee combat...but, oh, well...

It had significantly better writing than G1, for starters. Also it had a smaller cast so they were able to focus on better character development.

Animal based combat CAN work. Look at Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess or Okami. But what the original Beast Wars game failed to do was give people a good reason to, and resorted to FORCING them to by turning the deadly excess of Energon on the show into a game mechanic.

Instead, give the Beast Modes something worth transforming for. Enhanced mobility, some kind of special attack, or special ability. Cheetor could cross huge distances quickly, Optimus could perform a bunch of melee attacks, and Tarantulas could crawl up walls. That's off the top of my head.

I can see a Beast Wars game happening. Just make it like WFC and it could deffinately work.

I thought this was going to be a retro gaming thread about the Beast Wars games that were made in the past for PS1 and N64 (don't care about PC versions). But now I'm a bit disappoint. Partially because I might be the only person in this section who owns the PS1 and N64 Beast Wars games, and partially because people are bashing Beast Wars. It's hands down the best written Transformers on American tv. Animooted can't hold a candle to it, and in terms of story and character development the original toon can't either.

A) I HAVE beast wars for the PS1, and beast wars transmetals for PS1 and N64 (2 VERY different games)

B) This is not a debate about the tv shows, its a debate about weather or not beast wars would make a good WFC style game

C) If you have both versions of beast wars games, you have to admit they are subpar, right?

Thanks but no thanks. I can understand Drones in WFC, but in prehistoric Earth + Beast Wars? It would just be boss battles the entire game. Even if they used characters from the Beast Wars toyline, I just don't feel that they can pull the same style that has made WFC successful. It would be a step backwards.

Naw. The Adventure game is subpar. The Fighting games are actually pretty good for PS1/N64 era fighters. They could be better, but it's pretty fun to play especially with a bunch of fightan freaks.

Also I loved The Gathering and the Pre-Earth Beast Wars comics, so as long as we got an awesome cast and the game was in the same style of WFC I'd play it. Hell, I don't see why High Moon doesn't make Beast Wars guys in pre-Earth alts as DLC for this game.

I can't see a Beast Wars game working out well because I don't see the animal transformations being a cool enough gimmick.

Transforming works better when you transform into a vehicle to get more mobility. Animals seem like they were chosen because the toy designers were running out of vehicles. You can only do so many cars before somebody starts getting sick of seeing yet another car.

I don't even like the Dinobots for that same reason, even if Grimlock is a popular character.

If anything I would actually like to see a version of Transformers set in 1944 instead of 1984, though I would highly doubt something like that would ever happen.

But, my original argument probably should be considered. I think a 1984 G1 game is needed first.

Well, I think something all of these games are lacking so far is the element of disguise.

In War for Cybetron, transformation is generally for increased speed and mobility...but it's not like the other team is mistaking you for anything but an enemy.

Likewise, a giant rat, gorilla, or tyrannosaurus rex racing across a battlefield isn't fooling anyone either.

That being said, I could imagine having fun playing a Beast Wars game if the beast modes added a variety of attacks or skills. I think the biggest problem would be redundancy in alternate modes. Watching a platoon of Autobot tanks descend on a Decepticon position might simply look a lot cooler than watching a platoon of Maximal primates jump on top of a Predacon base.

Addendum::
Should we call it War FUR Cybertron?
