As old as this post is, it's still relevant. I'm getting him and Off Road and that's it for those new teams. TFC and FP already provided me my Superion and Menasor. If Hasbro and/or Takara had done more than lazy recoloring of the Energon combiners, then okay. But too little, too late.

Hasbro combiners are cheap enough that I dont mind buying them for fun even if the character is already represented by a superior version in my collection. But I may pass on Devastator because of its size. It sounds like hasbro is putting too much emphasis on the character as being legendary with this titan class crap.

Hercules was 6 voyagers. Titan Class (in price point only) Devastator is 6 voyagers. How much bigger do you really think Generations Devy will be?

Personally, I have a feeling the Hasbro Devastator won't work for me, in that they are going to draw a lot on the IDW version with Prowl incorporated and Hook as one of the legs.

I could be wrong, or they could do just what I said above and I love it.
All speculation till we see it.

ive been keeping a similar opinion to myself actually. i love my hercules so much, i cant see hasbros trumping it. its does everything i need it to, and might be favourite TF (3P or otherwise). i dont want to bring down those excited for CW devy, cause if its a fail ill still have my herc.

all that said, im totally willing to eat my own words if CW devy turns out to be amaz-tastic.

I'll probabloy be going for Hercules anyway (as he's a fantastic set of figures that has withstood the test of time well) but I'm interested in how this turns out.

Well, that's fine for you. But I've already got good representations of... seven, going on eight of the G1 combiners. I don't have the room, and vastly more importantly, the money to get Hasbro's stuff on top of the stuff I've got and other expenses.

No loss to me, mind. I've slowed down a lot on collecting.

One of the recent rumors I read this week. Stated that one of the Titan Devastator team members is Leader scale. The rumors have been really crazy this week. So who knows if this one is correct or not.

Don't want a Prowlvastator.

The perfect scenario, I'd like to see unfold for Titan Devastator would be. Releasing all Six Constructicons that form Devasrator. Think Prowl should have a separate HasTak CW or 3rd party toy release. That enables Prowl to combine with Titan Devastator by swapping out one of the Constructicons.

So I guess this project turned out to be just a bunch of hot air ?

Anyways I was thinking af another upgrade I would like to see get made for CW Superion even though I dont have him in hand yet. (Just drag strip and AB-Takara version preordered)

Me being the G1 advocate that I am find the jets as shin guards a bit annoying. I asked my friend who has Superion if you can turn the jets backwards to make Superion look more G1 since its only ports and peg on feet. He told me yeah, but then you can only bend the knees backwards. So that got me thinking. Since Superion suffers from a slight case of monkey arms (not horrible but definitely noticible) why not make leg extensions with new knee joints that connect to the limb ports and silverbolt? This would allow you to flip the jets to the back G1 style and still bend the knees in the correct direction. Also the extra inch on the leg will permanently eliminate the appearance of monkey arms. Im sure something similar could be devised for menasor. I would really like to see somebody make good on this idea so Im putting out there to create a buzz. Anybody else like the idea of more G1 accurate legs that are more in proportion with the arms ?

The problem, in my eyes, is that the extensions would need to be pretty long to account for some of the nose cones sticking up the back of the leg. Let me see if I can take a pic for you today and post it. If the extensions are as long as I am envisioning, it could put the knee in a bad location, proportion wise...

Ahhh I didnt think about the nosecones. I just looked at my drag strip port and based the idea on him. But maybe it would work with the right engineering. Can the nosecones fold back rather than being tabbed in place ? Take a few pics of him with the jets flipped from the front, side, and rear, I would love to see how he looks. Thanks in advance Ag. :D

That's a pretty cool idea, X. Unfortunately, the nosecones don't seem to fold up any other way to allow for clearance. They actually tab into the limb-bot's torso to provide a bit more stability, but the hinge on which they are on only allows for bending one way. Had it been engineered to bend up and down, then I think what are you proposing could be accomplished.

And I wouldn't want to see leg/thigh extenders for Superion as I feel it would hurt his proportions as they are now.

That's a big gamble, but at the same time I allow for multiple versions of a character in my collection. I'm very interested in getting CW Devy, but I also have Hercules and Giant on my shelves as well. Same as Superion, I have Uranos and have no intention of getting rid of him now that CW Superion is out. And I have CW Superion and find it an AMAZING release by Has/Tak. I think there's plenty to enjoy from either release.

And now that we've learned that an official Slingshot is being released, my interest in Beelzeboss' version has gone close to 0.

Okay, here are some pics for you, X. Sorry, I didn't see your message until I had disassembled my little shooting area to fix my son's bed. If you need more pics, let me know and I'll set it back up.

Image
Here's Superion with the leg reversed. I think this looks okay, but I think I prefer the other way around. Also, the monkey arms here are somewhat influenced by perspective. I didn't have my tripod set up and this was taken slightly downward where the arms, bent at the elbow, are closer to the camera, thus looking big. Sorry about that!

Here are a couple of side shots of the nose cone.
Image
In this pic, Silverbolt's fist is tucked into the cavity some. The nose cone is not tabbed in. There is pretty much no knee bending available in this configuration.

Image
Here, the fist is back up in its regular configuration. With the nose cone, there is pretty much no way to bend the knee, unless you tip out the nosecone to point straight back. (Sorry, no pic of this..) I don't think this would look very good.

As far as extensions go, I don't know how well you can see it there, but the tip of the nosecone goes nearly all the way to Silverbolt's "elbow", or about a quarter inch below the hip/upper thigh (Silverbolt's upper arm) swivel. In order to clear the knee joint, the extensions would need to be about an inch and a half, with Superion's knee remaining in the same place, making a very short thigh to very long lower leg. I cannot picture a way that this would look good. Perhaps someone will come up with something... As I walk over to my G2 Superion, the extensions would actually be fairly consistent to the G1 toy. I'll see if I can get some comparison pics up tomorrow. Time for bed.

Thanks for the pics Ag! I still think even with extenders an inch ot more, it would still work. I really dont like the stock proportions. Those arms have some serious hangtime when not bent. And the foot covering the fingers only adds to the total arm length. I would be open to taller legs. (not longer thighs) Thats the vision Im seeing in my head. If the pieces are molded to cap off the jets at their thickness and not just lengthen the thighs, it could create the right proportions. Would be a great shapeways project for someone verse in designing that kinda stuff.

Looking at fireflight and skydive in hand, I think theres still some money to be made here. The wings pop off. What if belzeboss was to make replacement wings for slingshot/fireflight that resemble actual phantom and harrier wings ? That way the two could be unique in jet mode. They could tale it a step further and do wings for all four limb jets that include missiles. They can also include more G1 accurate decos so people dont have to waste money on takara just for proper stripes and lightning bolts. And for good measure, they can include a blades head for alpha bravo. Belzeboss are you listening ? Come get this money !

Lol...

I dont think the idea is too far out of the realm of posibility. Isnt simple add on sets belzebosses strong point ? Or maybe Guilty or SXS can take a crack at it ?

wing replacements for the takara slingshot (made by anyone) would be cool. but i think BB is (or should be) ditching in making a new sling from scratch. i doubt theres enough of a market there for it.
