A true gamer must be full knowledge of games, and he must not choose a game that he should be playing, he rathers calculate or researchs the results of a game.

If your true to yourself and you have the talent in Professional gaming then your a true game.

It almost sounds like it's saying a true gamer dosen't actually play games, he just calculates the outcomes of games based on previous knowledge.

Am I close to the mark?

Personally I agree with whoever said it before that people that are trying to figure out what a "true gamer" is are really just trying to justify their own abilities while tearing others down, that way they come out looking superior.

And you arent?

you've just torn down the people providing definitions and thusly made yourself appear to be superior.

EDIT:
An honest question was posed at the start of the thread. It was blatantly and willingly open to everyones opinion of what a true gamer is. And it's just a thread, it's not as though these definitions are going into websters dictionary!

I could care less if I'm a "true gamer" or not. I just play games. Actually lately I don't even do that so much because I've been spending more time teaching my kids how to play games (I'm rather proud of my son's progress, too....3 years old & has already got to the middle of level 1-2 on SMB....& has finished the first Green Hill zone level for Sonic 1).

Honestly, though, there's a difference in tearing someone down & showing them a better way. Some people get those 2 confused sometimes. Why worry about who's better or who's not? Just have fun. That's whay they're called games.

A true gamer has multiple consoles

A true gamer sees the good in even the crappiest games

A true gamer will spend an extra hour trying to find hidden tokens just to get 10 Achievement points on Xbox

A true gamer will play Tetris on your cell phone during loading screens while your waiting

A true gamer teaches others and gives pointers to those that need help

A true gamer can beat Master Nina mode on Ninja Gaiden

A true gamer has shattered a controller or two in anger in his or her day.

A true gamer loves the challenge!

I'm Jackson Spade, and I'm a gamer! Are you?

The terms "True Gamer" and "Hardcore Gamer" make me chuckle.

I miss the good old days, when you either played video games, or you didn't. No nonsense terminology.

Yeah, back then all you had were people telling you that you needed to grow up & stop playing with kids' toys. Then Mortal Kombat hit, among others.

...well, IIRC there was custard's last stand (or something to that effect) on the atari.....

Oh, wait, I got one for the "true gamer" list.....

Guilty. My parents got me one for my birthday, many years ago. I got Mario Clash and Mario's Tennis with it as well. It was AWESOME. Shame it never took off, and ended with a horrible ousting of Gunpei Yokoi.

I could see 2 real downfalls with that system:

1: marketing. There was no real way for them to show people how it made games 3D without you actually sticking your head into one.

2: Red. I had reas in a Nintendo Power somewhere that the reason the made it all red was because adding in full color would have made it cost about 4 times as much.

Giving its users seizers or epileptic fits had nothing to do with its downfall either then?

Color would have increased the appeal considerably. If they can do movies in 3D thirty years ago, it wouldn't have been too hard.

A normal image in the background, but with the coloring used in 3D images. One eye piece could have been tinted red, while the other is tinted blue, making them basic 3D glasses. Mario Bros. would have OWNED in that format.

A shame, though, that they didn't do that. It probably would have looked really nice. Virtual reality and 3D were getting really big back then, though, of course, it was just a fad and died down. (Anyone remember VR Troopers? It was a Sentai Import show like Power Rangers)

I thought the Virtual boy was red because that was the colour of your retinas? :???:

I've heard that it blinded a couple of people too.

And Sonray, of course it's awesome. It pioneered Virtual reality way before it's time, and makes one mean weapon to use if you plan to take over the world.

It's the last thing I need to complete my Nintendo console collection.

Could you imagine if they did that nowadays what with the polygon capabilities most consoles & portable stuff can do. Hell, it'd be pretty sweet being able to platform jump & actually judge distance rather than look for other markers like shadows to figure out if you're going to land on the platform you just jumped to...

It's too bad we'll probably never see anything similar for quite some time....thanks to the VB bombing.

A "True" gamer only watches a show, because he thinks it will make a good game.

A "True" gamer is someone who can love a great classic over newer games.

A "True" gamer is annoyed by and intrested in all the bugs and glitches that come up in the game.

A "True" gamer doesn't whine, just quits.

A "True" gamer finishes the game.

Similar story with my sister and I but with a PS2. Dad didn't care but our mum hated it. Had to keep the fact we own it for about 2 years from her. She can't complain we laybyed it and pay half each. Any games we want we pay ourselves or for stuff like GH 3 it's go halves again.

In my opinion have to have experienced games of varying types accross numerous consoles and played it for more then 5 mins at least, finally also if you appreciate the game for what it is or not despite what others may or may not think.

That is a simple outline of it, it goes in to more detail depending on the type of gamer I guess.
