Best Beast Wars toys ?

Hey,

I feel I am missing out on some good Beast Wars toys, especially the Transmetal and Transmetal 2 ones since I don't have many of those.

Which Beast Wars toys, per category (BW, BWTM, BWTM2) do you guys feel are essential in a transformers collection?

I already got feedback from Cobotron if you guys would like examples too:

Cobotron wrote:Beast Era

Beast Wars

Tripredacus, Inferno, Wolfang

Beast Wars Transmetal

Tiger Hawk, Megatron, Night Glider

Beast Machines

Mega class Tankor, Basic class Battle Unicorn, Basic class Quickstrike

what BW figures do every collector need?
*this post is just for S1 beasts ie: not TM, fuzors, TM2*

Cheetor/Tigatron/Shadow Panther
get some form of this mold. his only major flaw is is the front legs in beast mode, and cat head (protruding lil too much) in bot mode. everything else is great. ive always loved this mold. two guns, fun transformation, great sculpt, and just a damn fun toy. for the ideal version, go telemocha.

Image

Claw Jaw
normally, guys without at least one hand bug me. but his lil claw and knowing that squids have barbs/claws inside some suction cups made him seem pretty deadly to me. and he turns into a squid! thats so unique it seems like it exclusively belonged in the neo line.

Image

Dinobot
does it need explaining?

Image

Optimus Primal (Ultra)
every BW fan owes it to themselves to have this figure. he's exploding with artillery, is fun to transform, and... i dunno, he's a gorilla? just go get one.

Image

Insecticon
automorph transformations are neat. he's kind of a smaller neater version of tarantulas. wing flaps open up to reveal gun storage (so cool) which is actually a two piece crossbow (so cooler).

Image

Razorclaw
because he is bad-ass. giant claw with spring out barbs, tiny claw with hidden blaster? he laughs at those stuck with mere hands (that could admittedly hold a blaster or claw like weapon. but are you gonna tell him that?).

Image

tune in next time for transmetals!

Guys! Next time you start a thread about Beast Wars, just PM me. I'll be right over! And I'll bring all my toys too. :-B

Did I already mention Tiger Hawk?

I wouldn't argue with shajaki about anything he just said.
I don't have Claw Jaw. Man, I barely remember Claw Jaw. He looks RAD! The beastlier the bot mode the better, I say. I'm a big fan of Razorclaw.
I can't think of a Basic Class figure I don't like. Fav's off the top of my head, Air Razor, Armordillo, Snapper, Terrorsaur, Night Glider, Spittor, Stinkbomb, Scarem, Stampy.

I like where shay-jay is going. I wanna see what he says about Transmetals. In the mean time I'm gonna go think real hard about BW Neo.

Holy crap, I vaguely remember writing something very similar to this aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago for Insecticon, Claw Jaw and Primal. :BOOM:

To add to this though:

The original Transmetal Megatron
The head is a bit odd (mostly the shark teeth) but damn the bot and T.Rex modes look so cool, plus that tail is the best tail I've ever seen on any Dinosaur figure ever, be it robot or not.
Image

Transquito
It's a robot that turns into a mosquito, and a freakish nightmare bug, plus he looks incredibly in both robot and mosquito mode. The figure is strangely unpopular, but damn he's brilliant, one of the most solid Beast Wars figures out there. I loved him when I first got him as a kid, and I still do now. Sadly seibs doesn't have a gallery for him, so here's a link to his tfwiki page instead.
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transquito

Transmetal Tarantulas
He's shiny, edgy, angular, slim, very robotic, but still somewhat organic. He looks like one of those EVA mechas had a freaky night with Spiga from Godzilla, which then tried its best to cosplay as Shockwave. His buzz-saw gun is weird, but kinda cool.
Image

Transmetls Scavenger
Originally meant to be a Transmetal form for Inferno, but renamed due to the original Inferno not being a popular toy. This thing warmed shelves, it warmed them so much so, that he was still available in bargain bins waaaaaaaaaaaaay after Beast Wars ended. I never understood this though, the figure is really, really cool. The detailing is great, the design is great, it has good articulation and looks incredibly badass and mad. Only real downside I ever saw to it was that instead of having hands, he had drills, no seriously no hands at all.
Image

Rampage
Dude, Rampage
Image

Optimal Optimus
It is the biggest Beast Wars figure (not counting anything from Beast Machines), it looks awesome, has loads of fun neat little (and big) extras. It is, however, the only figure in the line that doesn't really look like anything. Even the Fuzors were more coherent, this just looks like they randomly threw bits of different robots together.
Image

It's a robot, that turns into a hammerhead shark. He has a missile launcher in his chest that can launch a missile that has a shark face sculpted in, or his hammerhead shark head. On top of that his robot-mode is really cool looking, plus the head is awesome. You may know his inferior Transmetals version, because that was repainted as Sky-Byte for RID. But seriously, this one is much cooler, just look at that head!

Usually, I don't really like Best Wars toys. Most have ackward robot modes with panels hanging all over the place and I don't like that.

Still, allow me to share 2 of my favorites that everybody should have:

Scout Razorclaw. That crab is a lot of fun and great looking in every poses.

One toy that is usually hated: Fusors INJECTOR. He's an horrible monster in both modes! That's one flying fish you don't want to meet on your vacation.
He's also pretty cheap so go get him!

im back, and im talking about TM and fuzors!

Optimal Optimus
i never used the "truck" mode. but everything else was awesome. probably the most fun packed into a BW figure. sorta posable hands! giant guns! just plain giant!

Image

Waspinator
its so sad he wasnt TM in the show. that jet mode was soooo cool, and i think a great nod/throwback to starscream. not to mention, that black/red/gold scheme is to die for =P~

Image

Scavenger
another TM that suffered from mainframes small budget (and hasbros marketing department for changing his name). his ant mode is killer! all six legs are multi-jointed, and can support the weight of the torso so posing A-OK. drill tank thingy is so-so. bot mode is equally killer if you dont mind him being hands-less. and that head sculpt... terrifying.

Image

Sky Shadow
maybe its the Alien/Predator inside me that makes me subconsciously love this guy (lookit that head sculpt!). something people might not know, the head hand has a hand! if you slide it all the way back, there a three fingered claw kinda like TM tarantulas. aaaand he's got super ball joints on those ankles. could it be the birth of ankle tilts?

Image

Torca
when someone says "whale mixed with elephant" you initial reaction is probably that face you make when you smell someone else's fart. but in fruition, its amazingly frightening creature to behold. ill admit this is one of the few BW figures i dont own, but always wanted. looking at that head sculpt, its strange he's a maximal. its monstrous. he's a big bruiser, whats not to love?

Image

Quickstrike
segmented snake arm. that alone is full of win. its a shame those arachnid legs arent posable, but i always liked it. they were kinda like a lil trap that can clasp around anything. he's just a fun little dude.

Image

Silverbolt
legs become arms, legs become legs. not that innovative. but they way the do it is outstanding! everything flips down to create a torso seemingly out of thin air. its probably my favorite BW figure to transform. and melee weapons! more figures need em! and his, are like swords that blow up if you throw them! oh, and the paint apps on those wings.... =P~

I think Agamemnon hit the nail on the head. It would be easier to list the stinkers.

So glad to see Transmetal Waspinator, and Tarantulas in the list. I think TM Rattrap is a real stand out too. He has a great bot mode and also has that cool tail weapon. 2nd only to TM Megatron's as Dead Metal mentioned.

I think Beast Wars is my favorite era of Transformers ever, and Beast Wars Neo has some of my favorte designs of all times. Folks complain that they have an excess of kibbly hang down, and they are correct, but if you can look past it, Neo has some of the most far out and interesting designs. I thought it was real nice, after all the Transmetal toys, to get back to some really organic designs. I like 'em so much, I decided to take my own photos. If for no other reason than to get 'em down and play with 'em. Again.

My top 5.

5. Heinlad
For me, maybe the most appealing thing about this guy is all the little Japanese cultural things he represents. I don't even understand them all, but don't have to. He is just a fun and funny toy.
Image
So he's a time traveling drunk with giant scrodalions? OK, but a smart drunk, 'cause he packed a lunch! He is fun in both modes and an easy, enjoyable transformation. Anybody with flip down goggles gets a win for me.
Image

4. Stampy
Gotta give the basic class some love. He's a rabbit. Who doesn't like bunnies? They're so cute and soft.
Image
Even if their ears double as razor sharp swords.
Image

3. Longrack
What?! A giraffe? Who cares? I do! One of the most fun toys I have ever owned, and just a wild transformation unlike other quadrupedal Beast Wars toys. He just looks stunning in that animal print jump suit.
Image
He just has such a massive presence in bot mode. the arm gimmick is really fun, and he sports one of my favorite head sculpts of ALL TIME!
Image

2. Killerpunch/Triceradon
If I had to recommend just one Neo toy. It would be this one, or any of the many mold mates he has had. The character design on this guy is just Tuff Stuff! Sure he has the ass end of a dead rhino hanging off his shoulder, but he makes up for it in so many ways. Awesome bot modes and great alt modes with really cool weapons storage. And again some of my favorite head sculpts.
Image
In beast mode he has a really funny "play dead" gimmick, except Killerpunch, who can shoot his head at you. KP is a BW Neo release.
Image
Triceradon was a Beast Machines release in a subline simply called, Dinobots. He is a repaint of Neo Guiledart.
Image

1. Big Convoy
Now i don't have Big Convoy proper. I have Black Big Convoy, and just last weekend scooped up Ultra Mammoth. This toy is truely a Beast. I think one of the most interesting forms Prime has ever taken. The robot mode is covered in amazing sculpted detailing. He is fun to transform and despite all that kibble, super possable. His articulation is articulated.
Image
Did I mention he has a stinkin' removable Matrix in his chest. I know there is a ton of kibs, but I like to imagine this amazing robot is made more fantastic by wearing a luxurious fur coat....and pants.
Image
I think Ultra Mammoth is one of the smartest repaints the club has ever done. Using those tusks as a nod to Maggie's shoulder stacks was genius. I'm so happy to have Ultra Magnus represented in beast form in my collection.
Image

Honorable mention goes to Magmatron. He is an amazing concept and combiner. I was gonna work him into the 5, but when I was posing him for photos, I realized, although riddled with articulation, his pose-ability is really limited. His robot mode is beautifully terrifying. Still very worth looking at.

eBay, here I come.

Go for the Takara version. Hasbro used the bad kind of metal flake plastic on their version, which is why yours is broken. The Takara version doesn't use it, which is why it's easier finding that unbroken than the Hasbro.

Thanks! I do have Galvatron. Honestly they are in two different leagues. Galvy has a really strange but wonderful "cartoon" quality to him. Almost comical in a way. Where as Magmatron is more realistic and much more menacing. Honestly I have never understood how that Galvatron fits in. It's like he was repurposed from another toy line or something.
But, both are really fun toys!
