Because that Octopunch seen here in this comic is G1 Octopunch. He's got his G1 Pretender Shell body.

The Sea Spray redeco we're getting at BotCon is Shattered Glass Octopunch.

"Last I saw you was in Kitakyushu"

*sigh*

I hope they proofread more before publishing... unless they are trying to make it sound like Metalhawk has broken Engrish syndrome.

I don't seeing anything wrong with that.

"Last I saw you was in Kitakyushu."

Not

"Last I saw you was in Kitakyushu."

Kitakyushu is in fact a real city, located on Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Now, can anybody tell me what okimi means?

Really guys?

Okay... grammar lesson time:

"You" whether used in a singular or plural sense is treated as a plural with verbs:

"You were" not "You was"

For example:
Was you talking to me? No... Were you talking to me? Yes.

I agree it's a bit messed up, but:

"(The) Last (time) I saw you was in Kitakyushu"

Clearer now?

No. That's not how Metalhawk is using it. Let me reword part of his line to clarify.

"The last time that I saw you was in Kitakyushu."

Or even

"The last I saw of you was in Kitakyushu."

He's not using it like how you think he's using it.

I am not quarreling with the maxim to prune all unnecessary verbiage..
I am still not a huge fan of the Shattered Glass thing, but they pulled a dirty trick to try and sell me on this theme. Samurai's? That's cheating. EVERYTHING is is badass when you mix in Samurai's! This has potential...

Well played Fun Pub. Well played.

Okay, I'll dig that. The subject here isn't the assumed "you" but the "Last [time] I saw you" as a whole phrase.

Still, if it was on a student's paper, I'd probably mark it as awkward wording :-)

That human face on Metalhawk makes me want to puke. Ive been told in the Japanese cartoon, that the robots shrink down to human size and actually pretend to be a humans. Here we have a 20 foot tall armored Ken doll. It looks like Mitt Romney with a helmet.

It's actually really cool that they do it in the cartoon, and it adds a mystic/magical element to Transformers that has been hinted at even in G1, but not expounded on much in US fiction.

Plus, Megatron was a 20 foot tall robot who shrunk down to a pistol or rifle that a human could hold, and Soundwave did the same thing.

This harkens back to G1 comics with Pretenders where they did Transform into giant armored humans who fought giant armored monsters. It was cheesy then, and it's cheesy now, but it's fun cheese.

Could look like a lot of people in a helmet. :D

This isn't the Japanese cartoon continuity. This is the Marvel Comics continuity, in which the Pretenders were used in the U.S. style of giant organic-looking armor, rather than shrunken down organic beings like the Japanese cartoons portrayed them.

And as for Metalhawk here, he's become a Mega Pretender now like Thunderwing, Crossblades, and Vroom.

Some concepts that look really cool in a comic book dont come out as cool in the form of a plastic toy. Many transformers figures look like they could be alive if they were life sized. All animated and anime style human figures look like toys even if they were life sized. Thats what makes the robots so unique compared to other toys of the period such as He-Man, Thundercats, and Ninja Turtles.

Well, from what I understand, the Pretender toys were made first, and then put into the comics (and commercials).

Plus, if ya cry foul to Metalhawk, ya gotta do the same to Octopunch and Skullgrin here too, since they too look like giant "fleshling creatures" instead of robots. ;)

     HOLY SMOKING COW!!!

Sentinel Maximus (Fun Pub Beast Era/Cybertron comics)
G2 Hero Optimus Prime (I'm gonna guess the Marvel G2 comics)
RiD Optimus Prime (Universe color scheme, but he was red in the Fun Pub Cybertron comics)
TransTech Optimus Prime (Fun Pub TransTech comics)
Universe 2008 Leo Prime (first toy colors, Lio Convoy's first fictional appearance in this body)
Cybertron Deluxe Optimus Prime (Jungle Planet gorilla body, first fictional appearance of this body)

Though, seeing how this is Fun Pub, that last one could be either Cybertron Optimus Prime in his Jungle Planet gorilla body, or Optimus Primal colored like that Cybertron OP toy.

This is going to be epic!!!!!! :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK: :KREMZEEK:

He did appear in that form, at the very end as a parting gift from the Swarm (though it was miscolored):

Panel from A Rage in Heaven, Marvel G2 issue 12

Prime let himself be consumed by them and the Creation Matrix inside him purified the Swarm. That may also be the theory of the origin of the Vok.

Its probably primal. But then again, we DID se cybertron optimus hanging around sentinal maximus and RID prime at the end of revalations. That being said, HOLY **** THATS ALOT OF PRIME. :michaelbay:

If it's Prime, why wouldn't he be that tall?

If it's Primal, when he was resurrected after Beast Machines in the Universe comic, his new body was Autobot-sized (as he was now an Autobot) rather than Maximal-sized.
