I dont really like the SG concept because it just seems too "comic bookish" to be used on the big screen or a TV mini-series.
Well, had Animated gone into its fourth season, there would have been a Shattered Glass-themed episode with Bulkhead and Sari winding up in the SG Animated universe. We probably would have seen these people in said episode:

And the the whole concept seems to have originated with the Mirror Universe of Star Trek (a TV series).

That’s a valid point. Although I have never been a star trek fan, Ill trust you on that one. As far as shattered glass being featured on the cancelled season of animated, I see no problem with one episode. I mean what didn’t they do in the G1 series in one episode ??? Turn Prime into a gator, send Galvatron to therapy, make Powerglide fall in love, Have Astrotrain as a sky god, put Spikes mind in a robot, etc. Plenty of one time off the wall ideas for 22 minute episodes. But a whole series or a big screen film based on shattered glass ??? I don’t think so. I don’t think Michael Bay would touch a convention inspired continuity that deviates so much from what the average fair weather fan knows about Transformers. Same goes for a TV series that draws off of what kids already know and love. Optimus the hero. Bumblebee the sidekick. Megatron the villain. Starscream the coward. Some things don’t change even after 25 years.

No lets put Transformers aside for a second and imagine if the shattered glass concept had been applied to Star Wars or GI Joe.

Heroic Darth Vader dressed in all white with his evil son Luke Skywalker who wears black.

Evil Duke wearing dark blue against his arch enemy Heroic Cobra Commander dressed in camouflage Army fatigues.

Sounds pretty stupid right ???

(I hope you said yes and I will assume you did)

So if that was stupid, how does the cool factor come into play when the concept is used on Transformers ??? Is it because they are robots and not humans ???

I dunno, so maybe you can tell me in your honest opinion why Botcon fans go gaga for shattered glass ???

Enlighten me…

Actually that White Darth Vader and Camo Cobra Commander sound pretty bad ass to me! However, I wouldn't want an entire toy line or comic series devoted to those concepts. I recently acquired the original SG boxset set and add-on figures, and while cool, one convention was enough. Let's move on.

The thing is, it works as it does now becuase it's in comic form. Yes, a full blown TV series wouldn't work, but why should that matter? Are you implying that the TV shows and movies are some greater medium that hold a higher regard over any other medium (like comics, novels, games, etc.)? It almost sounds like your trying to discredit TF comics as though they don't bear any importance.

Oh, and BTW, in the SG TF fiction, there are indeed some SG versions of G.I. Joe characters (like Duke, General Hawk, and Joe Colton) who appeared in other TF media. For just these three, SG Joe Colton is U.S. President Colton, SG Duke is Secretary of Defense Hauser, and SG Hawk is Vice President Clay.

Though, a way it COULD potentially work for TV (as a movie or special) would be if it went something like this year's upcoming "Invasion" story in which the Shatteredverse and Classicverse crossover and have a four-way war. like if the good Autobots team up with the good Decepticons in an alliance to defeat the united evil Decpeticons and evil Autobots. It'd be like all those other crossovers in which the good guys of two series join forces to beat the bad guys of both series.

I think the bottom line is; if you don't like the idea of Shattered Glass, or mirror universes in general, then we can't convince you to like them. It takes a different mind to enjoy those types of possibilities and "what if?" scenarios.

I think I'm going to slap some reprolabels on Octo and call him Classics.

Easier for some then others. I love SG universe and I will continue to support it as much as possible. The fiction/prose stories are good as well and fleshes out the characters that weren't in the main SG comic. You really do get a sense that it's not just a flip flop either. SG Ops is well...an Evil Optimus. He still calls Ironhide his "Old Friend", he's not Megatron in an Optimus Prime body. And it works better for TF's then other properties because they already deal with multi-dimentions in other TF fiction so it's easy to imagine that there would be and SG universe. I also like the fact that I won't have to worry about Hasbro making any SG figures and putting them to retail. Most people complain about their toys being exclusive, guess what, these are EXCLUSIVES that won't be seen in the mainline.

I'm glad someone pointed out the blue breathing thingy on the original figure shell. It was obviously intended to be "connected" to the face plate, just like this Botcon figure... only it comes across more like a printed detail on the shell, because of limitations.

Taking that into consideration, the figure's pretty close to the original... save the size of the diving bell. Not bad for a straight repaint, knowing they can only do so many new heads per set.

I know Primus is multiversal and all, but I am missing why this is worth noting. Wouldn't Cliffjumper describe Primus as benevolent even if there was a badass SG Primus out there? Cliffjumper is describing beings as he knows them, from his slice of the multiverse....he would probably also describe any number of Autobots as benevolent even though they were not in SG.

But as I stated earlier, I may be missing the point of this "note".

Maybe this will shed some light: Nexus Maximus Prime reformated the dead SG Megatron into SG Galvatron with a fragment of Primus' power. This mirrors G1 Galvatron's creation by Unicron.

The point I was getting at is that Primus is good and Unicron is evil even in the Shatteredverse.

Yup, I knew that. I just don't think that Cliffjumper saying Primus is good offers any support for Primus being good. He would have said that anyway as he was speaking of "his" Primus. I know there is only one Primus, but I don't know if Cliffjumper caught that TFWiki entry. :)

Except when the mainline figures get retconned into the fiction. Then HASBRO did unintentionally release them to retail.
