I'm just going to start fitting my Seaspray with a diving helmet now and wait until I have Octopunch to paint it. With a little creativity, I think I can work it into being a diving bell on his rear cargo bay in altmode. Should their be a chain on top or a hose?

EDIT: I just realized I'm up to making 4 tentacles, a trident and now a diving bell! Maybe I should just try designing it digitally and making it through Shapeways!

Shapeways would allow it to be done multiple times, I'm sure there would be other people who'd want it. It could go with the Seaspray or Deep Dive colours as well. (Deep Dive looks quite tentacle-y) and yeah, good idea on making it a diving bell that sits on the back!
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Uh guys, wouldn't a new, bigger, diving helmet head inhibit the transformation? It might even stick out in vehicle mode, making it look like a large bulb sticking out from the underside.

Hence my idea to make it a diving bell in the cargo bay. Trust me, it should work.

Underwhelmed by this figure. I may still pick him up at the convention, if he's paired with someone awesome.

WOW the newer robot mode pics look much worse than I thought they would look.

Even with the current mock painted up head swapped out & the rumored 100% new octopunch styled robot head swapped in. I don't think a head is gonna help those awful colors that don't look that much like the colors on the 1989 pretender octopunch toy.

Duh. It's Shattered Glass, not Classics. He's not supposed to look like his G1 self. He's supposed to look like a mirrorverse version of his G1 self.

IMHO,This is why I & some dis-like Shattered glass.

IMHO,What's the sense in picking a new school mold for a old school character then turning around & giving it a color scheme that doesn't look like it's old school character colors.

for that matter,I might a well just ripp off the head of any old school G-1 toy & throw it on whatever new school TF toy I feel like it & refer to it as a shattered glass TF toy.

That diving bell idea is great, BTW. Not going to happen, but great.

I understand why you would make SG versions of popular G1 characters because frankly, "names" help sell the sets and if you try making a new version of anyone remotely mainstream, Hasbro has that annoying tendency to swoop in and do their own right after that (Seekers, Scourge, Kup, etc.)

I can even understand why you'd do "fringe" characters, stuff like late G1, Japanese only characters or comics universe figures because the diehard fanbase which attends BotCon is more in the know when it comes to those.

However, making a SG version of a fringe character? Am I the only one who finds that silly?

Maybe, but Octopunch is far from being the first one done.

There's even SG versions of fringe humans like Butch Witwicky!

Tentacles are really easy. I made these with a $2.99 Lego octopus set I got at 5 Below.

I'm designing a helmet now to render and put on Shapeways. It should be tested and available well before Botcon.

I've got some Lego dinosaurs whose tails are three times as long as those tentacles, and which add two more joints of articulation to each tentacle.

I guess my issue isn't that FP does toys of fringe characters, or even SG toys of fringe characters, but why do the fringe SG version before even the regular version? Make the regular toy first, get some steam behind it, feature it well in the club/BotCon comic and THEN do the SG one.

... Except that, now thinking about it, my Legos got moved into the attic so now I can't attach those tails to my Sea Spray to see what it looks like. :-( :BANG_HEAD:

Though, disregarding the colors, here's what the tail pieces look like (thank you, Google Image search).
