My Cullen autograph scalping ability has been foiled! DAMN YOUS, BOTCON!

Shouldn't the dumbass golden ticket get you an automatic pass into the line?

Glad i got my autograph in 2010. Barely made it in line that year. Easily the best part. Props to my cousin for inviting me down to hang out and go to BotCon!

BotCon 2012 Peter Cullen Autograph Guidelines

The lottery idea for Peter Cullen is a JOKE! If people REALLY want an autograph let them sit in line for hours waiting...there is always a POSTED cutoff number. If you want to meet him/get an autograph be willing to sit. Yes, it may take hours of waiting, but it you REALLY want it then you will WAIT. This is going to cause more issues then before. People who don’t want to meet him/get an autograph are taking away from people that do because it is nontransferable. I am about done with Botcon, and think smaller conventions is where it is at. Plus if you got a "Golden Ticket," for the $300 extra that should make a person a little higher up then a walk in off the street. It is all about money, and not the collector anymore...it is a real shame.

So what happens when someone who registered gets picked but isnt interested in getting one. Should be transferable.

Seems pretty limited, but I kinda like it, considering how long the line would be and how much time it would take.

I agree, this is beyond frustrating!!! Every year they've been taking the face/voice of the franchise and making him more distant from his fans. It was bad enough when Hasbro started limiting his signatures, but now Funpub does this!?! Botcon is more than just Peter Cullen, but he is the main reason Ive gone the past four years, and yes, Im one who waits hrs in line to get a chance to show my appreciation for 10 seconds before being "shuffled" out of line! I purchased the "golden ticket" in hopes Mr Cullen would show this year, and thatI might actually get to say more than two words to him at the "golden ticket" function, shouldve known better as my guess is he wont be attending this! Anyway enough of my rant, , just frustrated that Botcon is becoming less and less aboutthe fans every year!

I get that they've made it non-transferrable to stop scalping, but some people just aren't interested in autographs. Besides, you could easily sell the thing he signs for you.

As to the limit on the number of autographs...I don't know why it is being done, since we're not told. Is it a ploy to drive the demand up? Some cynical plot by the reptilian overlords who have hidden the dinosaurs that mankind used to milk for oil? Or maybe Cullen doesn't want to, or can't (possibly for medical reasons) sit and sign things for hours on end? I don't know, and it's no use complaining about the fact that he'll only sign a limited amount of autographs. The method to obtaining said autograph is fair game, complain away, oh ye internets!

This....I've never waited in line fore autographs before because it's not my thing...usually I'm the one entertaining people in line, LOL.
But yeah, I'd personally feel bad if my name was drawn because that's one less person who gets the autograph. I'll try and remember to bring my WfC poster or something...Lord knows I keep forgetting to even just get the game cover signed, despite bringing it the past two years AND the HMS guys being available pretty much anytime the dealer hall was open.... hah.

But yeah, sorry to the folks who wait for this sort of stuff. :( REALLY stinks that it's non-transferrable.

Wait is that from Headmasters? and here I thought it wasn't as prone to animation errors as the original cartoon!
It almost felt to me like some of the animation errors in The Headmasters were done on purpose as some sort of tribute to all the animation errors of the G1 cartoon, in some silly attempt to better fit the two together.

Almost like the animators were like, "Hey, this show's predecessor was littered with animation errors, so let's make some for our show to make it look more like that show! 8-} " :P

Man, that's a pretty rough deal. Surely it'd be best to let people choose whether they be included in the draw. It certainly sounds like a kick in the nuts for those who went for the golden ticket. Really doesn't sound like these rules are fan friendly.

Fan makes eye-contact with Peter Cullen: "Hello Mr. Cullen."

Security guard: "Looks like we've got a trouble-maker here. Take the shot."

The lottery is the best way to go.

Fans have not been very well behaved over the Peter Cullen autograph line in the past two years and there are far too many people who line up. The guy would be there for six hours signing stuff.

The lottery really is the most fair way to go about this now.

Yeah, it stinks that they have to do something like this because people can't behave. From my experience in line in 2010, people were well behaved and Peter Cullen was enthusiastic to meet fans.

Just like everything else about this year's BotCon, we'll have to see how it turns out. Hopefully it works, but we will definitely know if it doesn't.

I can get behind that, but I think people should at least put their name in for the drawing so those that really want in get a chance. That way someone like me wouldn't win (if I were actually going this year) because honestly, I don't give two shits about getting a Cullen autograph. I think he does a fantastic job and find what they do interesting...I'd probably have a good time having beers and chatting about their profession, but I really have no hero worship going on for voice actors. Same goes for guys like Archer or TF designers. Again, I'd be interested in hanging out and chatting about their profession, but I couldn't care less about their autograph or anything. I do think the ridiculous golden ticket should, if not get you in, give you a better shot, though.

I do agree that it may have something to do wiht him having to sit for however many hours of sign things. I'm pretty sure he made a suggestion to limit the number of people in line, then FunPub...like everything else lately...had to go and COMPLETLEY RUIN IT! They should have made it a choice to participate in this, as people have stated before, how is that fair to fans who want his autograph as opposed to those who don't?? I'm not sure FunPub entirely thought this through...much lik everything else they do. My heart does go out to all of those going this year who spent all of this money for a fan convention, and instead get the business convention.

I was bummed about not going to botcon as it's only a couple hours away, but the way they are handling this years ... I could care less anymore. I wanted to go to meet the artists and comic book guests (no where near enough announced, heck have they even officially said Simon Furman would be there yet). The poor news flow, the lack of safety with orders, and now they pull this crap? I go to a lot of cons, if Leonard Nimoy can sit through photoshoots for an hour or two, and sign most of the day, why can't Cullen? This is just bad management of the show.

Having seen the reaction to Cullen at past BotCons, I do understand why they are doing the lottery. In 2007, they were supposed to have 2 sessions with him. The first session had such a huge line that they had to shut it down and gave everyone who was still in line at session's end a ticket to the second session. I'm pretty sure the second session was just session 1 overflow. In 2009, he was doing a very limited signing that ran at the exact same time as the Weird Al autograph session, meaning you basically had to pick one or the other. As a result, roughly half the people in his panel didn't have actual questions, it was their way of getting hugs and autographs. In 2011, he wasn't even announced as an official guest prior to the Con and the only way you could get his autograph was by leaving a panel that was showing a yet to be aired TF:Prime cartoon and even then you had to be REALLY fast because the line was again capped very early.

I can also understand why they won't let people transfer their autograph rights, because frankly certain people would be selling them for hundreds of dollars without shame.

Perhaps a good compromise which would maximize the ability for fans to get autographs who truly wanted them would be to allow anyone whose name was drawn to "opt out" of their chance so new names could be chosen. Some of us have met Peter before and would be more than willing to step aside and let our fellow fans get the same chance we had.

This would be a great idea, but I wouldn't hold my breath on them actually taking the time to do this. It makes waaaayyyy too much sense (LOL).

Be sure to visit both Livio and Dan at the BotCon 2012 Artist Alley!
