I think SG figures like this and Tracks are designed to give us obscure but cool characters from past series. The names and faction emblems are more for storytelling than trying to represent the original character.

Wow, looking more and more like this set is gonna be a cheap one to pick up on the secondary market.

Must have been the only one expecting this Treadshot homage:

I'm happy with this one, good mold and good paint job. For those complaining he isn't a gun, not all SG Transformers are from G1, just ask Demolisher:

I don't get this mould as Treadshot. There was a suggestion floating around that if we got Cyclonus as Metalhawk then Nightstick would probably have been Treadshot. That would have made sense. This pretty much confirms that Metalhawk will be done from Thunderwing, which I don't see fitting half as well. If Swindle from Hound also proves to be true then Catgut from Ravage seems like a given. To my mind if they were going to use the Jazz and Ravage moulds and wanted to do an Actionmaster homage then Rad and Lionizer would have made much more sense.

All that not withstanding it's a pretty nice looking deco on a kick ass mould.

It's an SG version of the Universe (2003) toy.

I'm with you. IMO, to waste a new headsculpt on an Armada/Universe homage is crap. I know that I'll like it better in hand. I just don't need or want this though. Like, ever.

I actually don't mind the yellow squares, I feel it adds some detail. Agreed on the windshield borders though.

I kinda like this. :D Not enough that I'm dying to have it, but I have no major problems with it.

Come to think of it, the color scheme vaguely resembles Energon Treadshot too:

But reversed...works pretty well for SG. Obviously the Armada & Universe homages are more apparent. I like how it has multiple uses.

Wow, this looks nice and so far even the head looks cool!

I'm on the fence though, I'm only interested in the Classics portion of the set and don't need SG, but it does looks so smexy.

Just put a sticker over it, that way you can still sell it off later on.
You could use it as Classics Armada Sideswipe or even better, Classics Nightbeat!

The real reason this exists for Kick-Off:

That head is spot on.

I think this not a Fun Pub head remold, but as Counterpunch pointed out when we did the podcast last night, this is the alternate head that Hasbro already designed (probably with the intention to do Kick-Off - just look at the gun similarities).

Now that you mention it, it does look spot-on, maybe that's the reason the head sculpt looks so good, it wasn't designed by FunPub, but by Hasbro.
Remember that second head for RTS G2 Prime we saw in the instructions? The artwork for SG UM kinda looks like that too, but what character has a skull like head and turns into a truck?

So far I like this one the most. Colors work well to me.

Looking forward to seeing Metalhawk from Skyshadow (won't be Thunderwing) and really looking forward to Magnus' face.

Yes a sticker... excellent. I'm thinking he will be keeping Classics Hotshot company. I kinda get a Dion feel from though, after the club exclusive freebie

No, not all SG characters are based on G1 guys.

I know, it would just make sense due to the dodgy nature of the Universe series, along with the small amount of fiction G1 Treadshot got. I mean, first Sideways was a RID Autobot, then an Armada Herald of Unicron, and then a Robot Masters Decepticon, then a former resident of Planet X in Cybertron, etc.

GAH, you beat me to it!

I'll have to admit this was coming out of left field. Say, wasn't Kick-Off one of the rumored figures? I call Freebee on this one.

My thoughts too. And I suspect a third version will be the customizing class figure. Maybe G1 Kick-Off? Not sure. The mold is straightforward enough (more so that Tracks/Wheeljack)and I don't think it'll be the G2 Prime mold.

The rumored Kick-Off is G1, well Classics. I'm calling SG Swindle for Customizing Class, since it supposedly uses a mold already used for a previous BotCon: Universe Hound. Think BotCon 2010 Scorch.

I've never bought into that theory that the club uses a mold once for Botcon, then doesn't use it again. SG Thundercracker from last year is a good example.

I think that the customizing class instead piggybacks a mold that is already being used for the set, and then uses that mold again in the classroom, much like SG Thunderclash, or Animated Minerva, or SG Nightbeat, which was used with the same Nightbeat mold as the year it was released.

My theory is that this year will be SG Ironhide, much to the chagrin of every SG fan who will not be able to attend.

Man, I really really hope it's not that. Soundwave I understand why they used it for him vs the Perceptor mold. But I think once is enough. Now if they used RTS Jazz in the custom class... =P~ :KREMZEEK:

I'm surprised noone's mentioned the rivalry between Universe Ultra Magnus and Treadshot especially since they're both in the set.

Personally, I always felt the Universe comics were primarily set in the G1/Beast Wars continuity, meaning G1 and Universe Treadshot could be the same character or else it's just like the way there's too Sky Highs and Tracers in G1.

I would love this except I hate Deluxe cars. Pity because I've wanted a new Armada Sideswipe and Kick Off for years but Scout size to fit in with the Diaclones. Ah well, money saved.

That said, I would have loved Treadshot from Classics Megatron too.

That's near verbatim from the Universe Battle in a Box set.

The setting was post-Beast Machines, yes, but the characters were those who sprang up from all sorts of alternate universes. Since there wasn't that much backstory given to Universe Treadshot (aside from "he's Ultra Magnus's rival and foe"), there's no way to identify what his universe of origin is.
