I saw a pic of Kup sporting Scout Armorhide's tow weapon and it looks pretty good. There was a Target exclusive of Armorhide that was black in color with a yellow tipped black weapon that should work pretty well. All you would need is some way to mount it in the bed of Koist.

Should blend nicely, although it's not perfect.

I still say this deco is meant to stand in as Trailbreaker until they get around to a real one.

Thats just coincidence. Maybe they did go with Hoist out o the 12 Machine Wars toys because of that similarity but really, its just the 1997 MW Hoist colors on the Kup mold.

The other thing is that Kup ideally isn't the best mould choice here.

Its the best mold they can use out of the ones they have available to them.

I know they don't go with new molds, but seriously, would sculpting a new weapon that turned into an appropriately sized tow hook REALLY have killed them? Epic fail.

It wouldn't have killed them but the costs for making such a thing would have been passed onto the customer. Such a thing would be quite expensive solely because its produced in limited numbers. So thats why they don't do it.

Longarm is based on an on-screen movie vehicle which is off limits for the Club. Also, ALL 2007 movie molds, on screen or not are off limits to the club.

And people would rather see recent molds used than six year old molds.

Wilkinson. You may have heard of that ;)

And for people moaning about him being a pickup, I bring you: G2 Laser Rod Electro. A few pages back we already determined that the head shares features with both Hoist and him, which means the head will do double duty.

Aw dang. If they use this mold to crank out the gold laser rod, plus the Machine Wars repaint of Hoist... That's a pretty great use of the mold. With the added hook attachment to the back (bet the price will go up for those on ebay) ... I'm actually pretty happy with this guy. Can't complain about ANY black repaint.

Anyway, they always start off with someone less shockingly awesome for the start of the reveal. From here, should get interesting.

Yea I know all the what they can and can't use, I was just saying it would make more sense. Repainting an obvious big rig tow truck into a some sort of pickup with "towing" on the side of it makes absolutley no sense.

Totally disagree about the old molds.

I wonder if Trailbreaker inspired the original deco for the MW toy. Hmmmmm. >:oP

I think Longarm is licensed as well. According to the wiki, he's a Ford F-350; therefore he'd be off-limits to TFCC.

The back of the card still identifies him as a regular "truck", no licensing information anywhere, in contrast to for instance Starscream's "F-22 Raptor". Plus, Ford is not a part of GM who Hasbro struck a deal with for the movies.

In short, unlicensed therefore free to use, were it not for the cameo... Think anybody could ask that at one of the panels?

Maybe it's their business vehicle they use for non-towing jobs? Like when the office person goes to the bank ...

Gotta jump in to say mixing movie and classic molds is a train wreck. Gotta be a full set of one... or a full set of the other.

Given, I agree there may be a few "b@stard stepchild" molds of each that might be able to squeeze under the radar... but not many.

That said, I think the really exciting thing about this mold is its potential to be repainted as the Laser Rod bot in gold. That would be SPOT ON. I'm actually more excited about the add-on repaints that could come out of the Machine Wars theme... to match the previous G2, RID, Action Master and/or SG bots.

From just a couple molds, we could see a load of possibilities...

(from MW Prowl / Mirage)
Red Diaclone or SG Mirage
Green G2 Mirage (which would admittedly be hideous)
RID Skid-Z (would be amazing)

(from MW Hoist / Hubcap)
Laser Rod G2 Electro (great idea)
RID Wrecker Hook
Orion Pax (ala the eHobby Orion Pax/Dion set) (yegads, would be amazing)

Hmmm. You could totally display Classics Hardhead as Mega-Octane with a grouping of redux RID bots. (Scourge, Skybyte, Side Burn...) Retcon that quick TFCC.

I hope they keep fleshing out the earlier sets like they have. Those have been some of my favorite figures each year.

If that's the route they take, then it's a pretty weak way for them to squirm their way out of getting a crane hook/gun accessory moulded to make the mould work as a tow truck.

BotCon has revealed the second figure in this year's convention exclusive set, Machine Wars Skywarp. The figure is reuse Transformers Revenge of Fallen Deluxe Class Dirge with a brand new head mold. Check him out in robot mode below.

Wow that's ugly. RoTF has been out for nearly 4 years, and somehow I managed to miss this toy altogether, this is my 1st time seeing that mold. I do believe I've found a mold more repulsive than movieverse Starscream.

I never cared for that mold. Would have rather seen them use the ROTF Breakaway mold, which I think is an awesome jet mold.

But a bad looking bot mode. RotF Dirge is the better choice here IMO. Just think of him as Classics with a lot of (unnecessary) detail.

And it looks like El Duque needs more coffee, as it's Skywarp, not Dirge. ;)

I wish they had made this mold a bit taller and sorted the arm kibble out it's far far too short not to say that would have saved it but it would have helped , i like the colour and over all look it's just a shame about the molds **** bits. i still wouldnt buy it.

In robot mode that is. Vehicle mode is superb. And, I'll give Skywarp this. Nice head sculpt.
