Still, for what he is he looks amazing, and with some paint work and kitbashing, I'm sure I can make him fit in nicely on my Beast Wars shelf (as long as he's not too large to be in scale with Telemocha Optimus Primal that is ).
Waspinator is all win (again, with some needed paint, i.e. the yellow circles on the fronts of his shoulders and the black on his little 'diamond' head crest). I just hope his wings rotate around so that they can be facing up and out Seeker style like he had them most of the time on the show. If I have to butcher the wing flap gimmick to make that happen, so be it.

Didn't notice all that, was more distracted by the weird head, which looks like it was designed from memory instead of reference. Lets hope the stuff you noticed are just side effects of the mistransformation.

Aside from Waspinator's wings, none of that can be due to mistransformation because it's all due to the molded pieces themselves (and paint of course).
I also expect that if Hasbro doesn't get all of the paint details right, that Takara WILL, just as they did with the 10th Anniversary vs Telemocha figures.
I'll likely get both versions though (Hasbro and Takara) just like I did with all of the previous Beast Wars figures. It will give me spare parts for swapping/modding (in case a piece on Hasbro is more accurately painted/colored than a piece on Takara's) plus it will (hopefully) induce Has/Tak to do more Beast Wars like this since more sold=more $.

They are bought on sight as far as I'm concerned! Couldn't care less about the few not-so-show accurate parts.craggy wrote:RAcast wrote:So it's agreed that Rhinox and Waspinator are perfect? they're both plenty good enough to get my money, thats for sure.

And I am so glad I was able to find and buy one at BotCon this year.xyl360 wrote:(but that Telemocha Optimus Primal still trumps all for show-accurate perfection ).

6 Telemocha toys down, 9 to go.

It is. They showed us a pic of the prototype at BotCon, and so it'll be another redeco of the Generations FOC Deluxe Starscream toy.shockblast2 wrote:I do wonder if the Skywarp will be the FOC/WFC design.

On the contrary. The story is all set in the IDW continuity, and will present all the characters as residents of it. Waspinator has been a resident of the IDW continuity since "Spotlight: Thundercracker", and returned to the foreground in issue #19 of RID.shockblast2 wrote:I think that is a weird idea to have all these different continuities interact in the comics. So FOC/IDW Starscream will interact with Armada Starscream?
Not sure. Though they didn't reveal anything at BotCon, the Bot Shots logo was included in the slideshow slide that listed a general overview of all Hasbro TF lines continuing throughout the year.shockblast2 wrote:One more question, are bot shots getting the proverbial boot? No reveals at Botcon?

What's cool about ALL of these new Deluxes, including the two Beast Wars toys and Armada Starscream, is that every single one of them will tie into IDW's new Dark Cybertron story arc, and will each include a chapter from it. It's gonna be awesome seeing all these diverse characters interacting with each other in the story.

It's the same case as with the current Deluxes coming with Spotlight issues. Each toy will come with a Dark Cybertron issue of MTMTE or RID.Dead Metal wrote:Wait, they all tie in? As in they each come with a comic that will also see retail release, or with an exclusive toy only comic that is also part of the main continuity?

Look at how many bodies Bumblebee has gone through:shockblast2 wrote:Body upgrade? They do that in the comics? Weird.
[/quote]For years, it was done with little-to-no regard for any toys, and was just done for either technical or storytelling purposes. Until recently, only a handful of times had the characters upgraded because of toys.shockblast2 wrote:I read one instance of that in the Aligned continutiy with Breakdown and in G1 (supposedly) with Ultra Magnus, which I never bought that excuse. Of course, Hasbro did that to make use of the Optimus Prime mold rather than paying for a new one. But I digress. Does it happen often in the comics? If so, I don't think I like that kind of idea. It would appear to exist just to justify reusing molds for characters in the toy lines. For as much as we are paying for them they need to give us no more than one repaint of a mold. With a few exceptions, like Starscream. Of course, the comic books continuites have always been fickle, save the original Marvel run in the 80's.
