I know. I didn't think I would like them as much...but...I love the little weapon masters. They are so great.

We don't know if the new ones will even get Whatevermaster partners, even the repaints from the series year, as none were announced at all.

I sure they will. Especially considering they would have to change the price point, packaging, and the fact that all of them, save Bombshock and Powerglide, are repaints of prior molds with holes for the minicons. Not that they couldn't retool the holes, but it just seems unlikely.

Funny you should say "new packaging": Cliffjumper and Nemesis will still be part of the 2014 line, while the rest (Thundercracker, Windcharger, Bombshell and Powerglide) are slated for 2015 which will feature new packaging and possibly a new price point for Legends to go along with it.

Yes, but Thundercracker and Windcharger are based on molds that were created for the current configuration. But, you could be right. Personally I can take or leave the minicons, but it would be a shame to not keep going with what has worked. From what I can tell these legends figures are selling pretty well. After the initial onslaught of nine months worth of Optimus, BB, Megatron, and Starscream, of course.

Factoring in what you said about the packaging changing, you might be right. The only thing that will piss me off is if they do away with the minicon and then lower the price to 8.99 or something. The legends without minicons are worth 6.99 tops.

You know what the sad thing is? I just realized that five years ago this summer I bought my first TF from childhood. It was a Universe Ratchet and I paid 8.99 for it. If they are 8.99 a pop for these legends, look how far we have fallen.....

Hehe, was gonna post that. Armada Megatron is a repaint of the G1 inspired one with a new head, no speculation required ;)

I meant like a running change type of deal where you can only order Megatron and it's a roll of the dice who you get.

A few things I wanted to note. Didn't Hasbro just issue a statement that Diamond is not restricted to buying a box and that now retailers can order per item. Thus, the Armada Megatron is not guaranteed to be the rarer one (no toy would be).

Also, I see the word Minicon being thrown around, is that official Hasbro labelling? Because I thought a minicon had to have a minicon port inorder to be considered a minicon.

Hypothetically yes, whether or not retailers will take advantage of this or not is yet to be seen.

I also have a feeling that when Hasbro has a ton of Bumblebee's and Primes in a warehouse they might stop this practice.

I am severely disappointed with Arcee and leader Megatron. Those were the two figures I was hoping would be heavily inspired by their looks in the IDW universe since that's where most o the Generations figures aesthetics lean toward. Don't get me wrong, the Arcee figure look fairly good...if you want a G1 accurate representation with a large backpack. I can't use her for my Generations display alongside Springer and Kup or she'll look out of place now :( As for Megatron...similar deal except he looks oddly proportioned in robot mode. Armada Megatron looks better in the picture at least. I will say the tank mode for both Megatrons look fantastic. So what did I like out of the figures revealed?

Broadside and Chromia left me with mixed opinions. Broadside looks fantastic in both modes but I despise Targetmasters and Headmasters (sorry if I offended anyone). So it look like it actually will be good...just not for me. Chromia reuses PRID Arcee's mold and while I love the Cycle mode the robot mode seems "been there, done that" because it reuses an Arcee mold that was already blue. I wish they at least remold the First Edition figure instead for a greater height in robot mode.

Voyager Optimus...maybe even worse off then Arcee and Megatron. Very unappealing to look at for me.

Well, that's all I got for now. It's good to be back.

Hasbro doesn't do any of such practices. The retool will be differentiated with a different name, like "Armada Megatron" (see "Armada Starscream").

You were much luckier than I. I distinctly remember my Generations and Universe figures being $13.99 back then. If I was lucky someone would have a sale for $11.99 but then they never had any on the shelves then.

I think the legends figures will still come with Targetmasters. The legend and TM are gang molded so in the case of Thundercracker he would be pressed with Waspinator and would cost a fortune not to.

I think you might be mistaken. Takara have come out with the Micromaster figures separately in clear plastic. Also Nemesis Prime comes with Bumblebee's minicon and Cliffjumper come's with Prime's.

I suspect that once the Armada/Energon finished up, they wised up and decided not to gangmold minicon molds any more. Note that all the minicons in Cybertron forward featured a separate plastic colour for each, whereas before, there were many minicons on the same that shared the same dyes.

It's all hypothesis of course, considering that some in Armada were all in different dyes too.

Hopefully they'll keep the little partner guys, gang-molded or not. Unless the ones without the littler guys will be cheaper thn the ones with them, just dropping them would probably hurt the sales of the Legends.

We know the Legends figures will still have Targetmasters, but we also know they're not necessarily gangmolded, e.g. Nemesis Prime with the Blazemaster redeco, and Cliffjumper with the Roller redeco.

Don't forget Takara doesn't mind spending money when it makes sense. Nemesis and Cliffjumper are in the same wave so it's easy to swap the Targetmasters. If you remember the PCC when they swapped partners around it was always within the same group of figures.

Hey guys, stupid question; did anybody ask at the Hasbro panel what the metal pins are for in the RID figures so we can have some sort of confirmation? What about the Kreo line not doing larger robot sets and focusing on vehicles and play sets? What happened with the last wave of Beast Hunter figures, namely the simplified deluxes and legends?

This one is simple. North American retails simply didn't order any likely due to A) all the leftover unsold Beast Hunters toys they were still trying to sell, and B) AOE toys were coming and, with those being for a movie, would likely be more up their alley since retailers love (trying to sell) TF movie toys.

Ergo, they went to retailers in other continents' markets like countries in Europe and Southeast Asia.

The pins for the Chomp and Stomp Grimlock that's coming out later this year. They activate his electronics and some of his weapons, depending on whether it's an Autobot of a Decepticon riding him.

Yep, hence all the home bargins discount stores near me have boxes of simplified deluxes...Have been tempted for windrazor and doublestrike, but only because I love their cyberverse molds. Only found the simplified voyager toys in one place so far though.

It's all hypothesis of course, considering that some in Armada were all in different dyes too.

Don't forget Takara doesn't mind spending money when it makes sense. Nemesis and Cliffjumper are in the same wave so it's easy to swap the Targetmasters. If you remember the PCC when they swapped partners around it was always within the same group of figures.

The whole gang-molding argument is moot for TakaraTomy: we've seen separate releases of the Cybertron Giant Planet Team, Universe Nightstick, and PCC Mini-Cons as campaign exclusives, despite being gang-molded with either their larger partner or with eachother. TakaraTomy has no qualms with throwing out or recycling unused parts of toys.

As a rule of thumb, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Universe and Power Core Combiners had them gang-molded, Classics did not.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

The pins for the Chomp and Stomp Grimlock that's coming out later this year. They activate his electronics and some of his weapons, depending on whether it's an Autobot of a Decepticon riding him.

This has been confirmed? What about the mobile app? I heard it was to scan the figure in for some reason

Well, I'm pretty sure it's just a magnet, so there isn't really any way for a phone/tablet to scan it.
