Still looks awesome, though.

I liked being able to pick up two Comic Con Hasbro bags full of toys

I realize that this is a serious necrobump, but my question pertains to Pirate Scorponok, who is included in this topic.

Question: to those of you who own the BotCon version and are also fans of the actual Marvel G1 comics, do you consider the toy an acceptable representation of the character on the pages?

I think he could work as Marvel Scorponok. The toy is a good size compared to Powermaster Optimus Prime (the G1 toy), and the headsculpt is based on Scorponok's U.S. head design, which the comics design used.

The only thing I can think of that might put someone off of using BotCon Scorponok as Marvel Scorponok is that the toy mold is just the Energon Scorponok design in G1 colors rather than actually using the G1 Scorponok design (American or Japanese). Like, G1 Scorponok didn't have treads on his legs or a jet cockpit and crane hook on his tail, or really big purple shoulders.

So if one isn't bothered by the design differences between the toy and comic designs, I think it would work fine.
