Broken Music Label Soundwave

I have no idea if the mp3 player part of him works. I haven't got a working mini sd yet. But the first time I ever tried to transform him back to alt mode, his head would no sink deep enough for me to close the hatch. I tried for a while in different angles and using for and more force. I finally succeeded .... but now the spring under the head seems broken and the head wont stay up unless I turn it at an angle and it won't go down past 2/3 of it.

I would have expected that from a third party toy but not from Takara. I'm a little upset.. Especially since that's the transformer I paid the most for yet. (But not the one that worth the most to me. My complete Power Master Optimus Prime would be it. ;) )

Has anyone had this problem? I think the spring just fell off and got stuck sideways under his head. If I open it up to fix it, will I have to look for more parts coming out?

yeah basically the spring just fell off. it is just one lousy spring too with no design to really keep it in place.

its an easy fix to take it out and put it back in, just take out the 2 screws in the back and pull his chest and back far enough to take the head piece out of its grooves...

I have the same problem. I'm going to need to come up with a way to make sure that spring stays in there, and also so the head stays up all the way in robot mode. I tried just elongating the spring, but it doesn't seem to be a permanent fix?

I did not have a problem with my Music Label Soundwaave, but did encounter problems with ML Ravage. Out of the box - there weren't any problems. But after 1 year, the black plastic has started breaking down and crumbling. It's terrible - his lower jaw crumbled right off along with his tail. It's just like the gold plastic syndrome. It's a shame because the figure wasn't cheap (being a transforming USB drive).

Thanks. I'll try that.

It's a shame they make toys that are supposed to be used in every day life yet break more easily than most other transformers. I'm thinking of getting a second G1 Soundwave to mod it into a decent mp3 player that doesn't need any lousy 1GB mini sd. If I can do it right, I should be able to mod the front buttons to operate it.
