Dang. HMW is essentially my homepage. I have muscle-memory for the game menu. Now I know how that kid felt who wanted to get into Bakugan last month at my TRU.

And I never got around to posting photos of my team or doing the alt hunt. Oh well, "too patient for my own good" has practically been my motto as long as I've been a Transfan.

Oh, and Jack Hallows: you probably just came down with a case of more important s#!t to do, but if I was being kind of an ass in the course of our arching each other last year, I'm sorry. Please come back while you can! I'm about to foolishly upgrade my L5&6 'Cons before their time, I swear!

Probably best to post that in the Problem Thread in GD.

It's not a problem. I think it's time to put HMW to bed. There's too few of you interested in this game any more. I'd rather focus our energies on the areas where Seibertron.com excels. I'll leave the game up for the time being, but it will no longer be in the primary navigation of the site.

My first post, and consequently probably my last, in a long while. I've always enjoyed a nice game of HMW. Although I'm not vocal in the forums I have always enjoyed playing and have done so for at least 5 years. It will be sad to see it go as it was my main reason for coming to Seibertron.

I mainly play whilst at work as it was possible to play in the background whilst working and is not too intrusive on the work I have to do. If any TF news came through I would take a look whilst I was here as well.

I'll be honest Seibertron isn't my favourite Transformers fan site and HMW has been the only thing that has kept me a member for so long. I know HMW will never get back to its glory days but with a bit of promotion and integrating into the site it may reach a wider audience again.

I debated long and hard about whether to write this. I know compared to the whole website the numbers using HMW must seem small. I just think if it can afford to be left alone then it should. I realise that this is your decision entirely and ultimately beyond my control, but I just wanted to speak my mind .

I really appreciate you taking the time to express your thoughts. If you have some time to send me a private message or an email, I would like to hear some more about why this isn't your favorite Transformers fan site. I'd like to know what we can do to improve it in your opinion.

Your comments are exactly why I think it's time for HMW to be finished. It's a matter of time to make HMW work the way it should. This song and dance has been going on with HMW since 2007. It's time to focus on the areas of the site that are Seibertron.com's specialties so that users like you can enjoy your overall experience here.

with all due respect Seibertron, we can't let you do this. heavy metal war is the reason many of us hold this site so dearly and recommend it to others (not to play the game, per se, but just for transformer news period.) if you delete heavy metal war, what would make this site any different from the others? i'm sure every site has areas they're focusing their energies on in order to make them excel. know what they don't, and will never have though? the heavy metal war. on those sites, it's just click, scroll, read, type. rinse, repeat. on seibertron? we have all that and a place where die hard transformers fans who aren't as social as others can still interact with one another and bond over transformers during some heated friendly rivalries. no site i have ever been on has anything like this to offer, and i don't mean specifically transformers websites; i mean on the internet period. no other site is set up like this one as far a interaction goes. i mean news, movies, comics, social media, role playing, and an actual game. it's pretty impressive. so what if the game doesn't run smoothly? life in general doesn't run smoothly yet we still love and strive to participate in it though. i, personally, am one of those people who don't really like to play games online like call of duty or any of those other platform games. it's games like heavy metal war that interest me. the statistics, the text, the identities you come associate with each ally and foe you fight with on the battlefield. the battle hardened transformer with less stats that defeats an enemy that by all means should have scrapped them.. it all still excites me. when i was deployed and testing my heavy mettle in a real war, one of the only things that kept me sane was the heavy metal war. no word of a lie, bro. i created transformers that reflected parts of me and people i've come to know and love in my life. i've created trusting friendships in this game without ever having to type or speak a single word to the person on the other side of the keyboard. i love this game, but i don't want to make this all about me, because i'm not even one of the people who have been here since the beginning. i can only imagine how they feel. point is, is that this game means more to a lot of people than you may understand, boss. this has become part of our lives. it requires no money to play, the concept is awesome, and you can never 'beat it'. it's ongoing just as the war between factions is ongoing. it's a living entity in it's own right that many of us have come to call home. i understand how you feel about the lack of players.. but i can honestly say that although there isn't an extravagent number of people playing hmw, the players that do, are here for the long haul. we aren't going anywhere. this is our territory. please don't sent heavy metal war the way of the allspark.

I'm a bit late to this, but to just put in my 2 cents for what they are worth.

I look back at a lot of the sites I used to visit a even a few years back, and frankly this is one of very few I've stayed with. When I think of Seibertron, I think of Heavy Metal War. When I got properly back into Transformers during Energon (I had been watching beast wars and such, but had not bought any figures between Gen2 Bumblebee and Energon Starscream.) and started looking around the sites available, it HMW was one of the aspects that attracted my interest in Seibertron, one of the reasons why I signed on here when I haven't with your "competitors", and after I started actually playing I was hooked.

I have dumped the kind of time in this game that friends of mine dump into more complex MMO's, Minecraft and JRPG's, had friends sign up, spent time on the forums, lost countless hours creating back stories for my team and it's members, used more math figuring out details for characters then I've spent on personal budgeting and taxes, been angry at system wipes that reset everything and rebounded by trying not to make the same mistakes I had made the first time, dealt with the ups and down of the backstage drama with developers, enjoyed the interaction with fellow players, seen your personal disinterest in hosting the game (whether perceived or real) and finally, watched in the last while as newer official games (both console and IOS) stole what thunder most of us had left for the game. There were many times when I was living on my own, where I was staying up later and later to just get one of my guys into that next mission, a situation that continued thru moving in with my girlfriend, marrying her, and right up to having our first kid just over 2 years back. Heck, when I bought my first smart phone, the first thought was to see if I could play on the go. (Yes I could, but the interface and screen sizing made things very frustrating.)

I had another issue which limited my play that the game has nothing to do with, as between the death of my laptop, and my desktop being disassembled after a move last year, from which I still haven't reassembled (and won't until the basement renovations are done) my playing dropped my playing time, as my frustrations with my old phone browser had soured me from playing on my newer phones and tablet.

After Animated ended, and the Aligned/Prime shows and toys emerged, my fandom went into decline so (for lack of a better term) my needs for this site faded, and the thing that still kept me logging in was HMW. No matter how bleak my view for the current Has/Tak product or direction, HMW was there.

My biggest lament, was that the game was never able to take that step to the next level. Were the aims for V2 too ambitious, as it the lack of higher or technical support that doomed it? Were people turned off by lack of updates or fixes for minor bugs? Would it have been better to embrace the simplicity of the base game and strove to simply maintain that vision with regular updates to missions and alt-modes? The popularity of the other games we have seen has shown that the support for games are there, and even something like a bare-bones phone app (yes I know that would sacrifice page views) could have made a difference, if it had been available before Legends launched.

At the end of the day, Seibertron is your site Ryan, and it is your call what to do with it. I feel very sad that something that truly made your site unique seems (again perceived or real) to have been regulated to your back-burner long ago, and that this result could have been avoided (or at least delayed indefinitely) had more been done to support the back-end before the newer games came on to the scene.

Shut down the game if you will, and my team will roll out one final time into the sunset. I personally thank you for hosting it for as long as you have, and for all the good times that I will attach to it.

HMW was the only reason I came here. The lack of activity on fixing it, and the strangling effect it had on the HMW community, the reason I stopped regularly attending here.

Try refreshing the page. If there's no missions current for you it'll generate a mission for you to join but you need to refresh.

So, I reset my Level 1 a while back, and he's displaying his alt-mode as Opportunistic Insect on his profile page, and in missions. Yet, when I go to my registry, he's got the grey Optimus Prime with the red X over him, instead of the insect. None of my other 'Cons have this problem, just Scarab. Any ideas as to why?

Here's a link to him, in case it helps, but I know it will show the insect on his page.

http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... r_id=89156

He also shows up on the 'Team Page' as the grey Optimus with the red X, if that helps any.

I figured out it's a flaw in the Stag Beetle alt-mode. I've reset Scarab to both a Termite, and a Rhino Beetle, and they work fine, but when I tried to go back to the Stag Beetle, the "Grey Optimus with the Red X" surfaced on the registry again.

Just a note for anyone interested.

ive had long gaps on here, where i just havent been bothered with the site, but what always brings me back in HMW, i can tootle around on it during work, and occasionally get nice surprises, but i dont think i would visit the site as regularly, and provide that all important footfall for the site i there was no HMW.

I feel that alot of people may come just for this, but they all count as visits, and HMW could be the gem that keeps the site different from the others out there.

just my 2 pence (im aware its time and money consuming to provide this services, so thanks for having it as long as you have, and hopefull for a long time in the future)

did the cache just change on this site? All of a sudden I keep getting stale versions of all the pages when I navigate via in game links. Works okay if I refresh the page, but definitely makes playing the game a lot more tedious if you have to refresh every single page before it is usable.

discussion board pages are sometimes stale as well so it isn't just limited to the game. I'm on firefox now, so it doesn't seem to be related to any specific browser.

Pages will load fine after using buttons within the HMW game (like submit on missions and activate in the registry). When you goto missions however and need to add a new mission you have to refresh the page. When using links (like for upgrading transformers, you get a stale page and have to refresh (I guess I'll have to keep track in my head so I don't have to take 5 times as long to reset a character).

ahh and resetting characters is completely screwed up (impossible to do) b/c it is keeping my old stats after I reset (tactic levels and alt mode are the only thing that can be changed).

Edit: I was able to actually reset a character by hitting reset then before doing any upgrades or alt mode selection, exiting out of the page and clearing my cookies and browser history. Still a pain to do all the upgrades because after doing an upgrade it reloads the page without the upgrade so you have to refresh before doing another upgrade (turning a 2 minute job into an 7-8 minute job...guess I can't keep resetting characters to best suite them for the mission they are about to enter  )

When I went to look at the forum, refreshed my registry page while browsing the forum, and somehow I ended up on this dude's registry page with all their roster selectable(the ones that weren't in CR anyway).

Noticed my forum account wasn't logged in, relogging seems to have fixed it so I'm back to my own registry, but that was still rather weird... :-s

I have fixed this by logging out and back in, but somehow, when tapping on my Registry link took me to this account http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... p?id=47073 with full access as if I had logged I to it.
I logged out and back in and i'm back to myself but all the red scared me. I figured I should report it.
