Au contraire, Silver Wind! Some pressure group tried to get Teletubbies taken off the air because of the overt homosexual symbolism surrounding Tinky Winky. I really wish I was making that up.

Yeah, Harry Potter, Spider-man, X-men, Revenge of the Sith- all 12A certificates. All merchandised in fast food places. All the British reviews I've seen of TF so far have hammered it into the ground, while US reviews were mixed but positive. It's almost as if there's some sort of country-wide vendetta going on. Either that or all the go-USA pro-military bollocks (that I only occasionally noticed) offends non-US residents more than we realised.

A little off topic, but what's up with all the eye patches. Is conjunctivitis going around the forums, or did we have a group of pirates Transformers join, and I was unaware?

What hooey!

12A has basically replaced PG, stating that anyone under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

It's the UK equivalent of PG-13
He's got some pretty far-out powers to go along with them, too, including teleportation, the projection of trippy telepathic visions and illusions, and the ability to groove on the language of 98% of all known species. To uses his powers to the fullest, though, he's gotta be feelin' good vibrations; bad karma can seriously harsh his mellow, y'know?

There is no such thing as bad press. Ridiculous as this is it's still Transformers in the editorial of a national newspaper. I believe the last time that happened was either when Richard Branson guest starred in the Marvel UK comic or when TFs where branded as promoting Ayrian stereotypes (WTF!!?) also back in the 80s.

if the classification says that children under 12 can see it with an adult then what is the effen problem... just someone trying to make a name for herself. they are toys for crying out loud.

I heard the UK was becoming a "nanny state" at least that's what the unhappy brits call it. this is rdiculous. would the toys be okay if the violent movie was given a PG rating?

I wouldn't take young kids to see the film. But even with a PG-13/12A rating, it's nothing that a 10 year old couldn't handle.

Kids see more violence on TV, in the News, and in Video Games.
There's more gore in a single episode of CSI (take your pick).
I could go on, but you get my point.

The innuendo...no. I wouldn't want my kids (if I had any) to be subjected to that...it makes for an uncomfortable "what does that mean?" conversation. However, kids have voracious learning appetites these days, and I'm sure that by the age of 10, they pretty much know now what the people are talking about.

I think these people are being too extreme about this, it's ridiculous.

*sighs* Does anyone remember when kids were allowed to be kids, and that was just fine?

My son is 2. He could play with these!!! He has Megatron and another. We even bought him those 3 car wacker things (Baracade, Bumblebee and Optimus). He loves them and he could give a Sh8t about the movie.
