Buyer Beware - 09' Boxed Sets

That's right folks, I'm here to give you a buyer beware on your 09' boxed set. Opened mine today and discovered the accessories to the figures were missing. Before anyone says it I looked under the foam and almost tore apart the foam looking for the accessories that should've been in the box and they were definitely missing! So besure to check you 09 box set to make sure your figures are complete. :-x

First I've heard of this.

I bought 3 box sets this year without problem.

Just contact FunPub and they'll hook you up.

Did you buy from eBay or somewhere? Usually at the convention they have you check things over.

Last Thursday night I went and picked up my box set, I did open the box lid but only made sure all 5 figures were there and no major cosmetic defects, then brought it home.

Later at home I did a more thorough check and removed the insert foam, found out Landshark's instruction sheet + character card bag was missing.

Next day at the Yardhouse bar meetup, I consulted this issue with our helpful Seibertron people (Thank you!!!), and they gave me a very good advise to talk to Pete next day morning at Botcon, which I did and he just gave me a replacement one straight. Awesome!

Cheers!

My friend and fellow collector that I bought the set from is going to contact FP for me to get the missing accessories. I figure since he was the one that actually bought the set because of his Primus attendee package that they may be more cooperative with him than with me since I bought the set off of my friend. I'm not worried about it too much. I have faith that FP will anti-up the missing accessories.

But I am fairly discouraged from buying Botcon sets in the future. One quarter of Kup's legs came off in mid transformation on me. The shoulder assembly pin on Scourge's right shoulder is super loose causing his right arm to droop badly. And one of the tank treads/arm armor was very difficult to attach to Landsharks arm. Almost as if the pegs and holes were not properly sized.

Between the missing accessories and the QC problems I'm kind of dissappointed in this years set. Some of my dissappointment will be rectified when my friend is able to get the missing accessories for me. But in comparison to my 2007 Games of Deception set there is a stark difference in overall quality here. Hence my disappointment. :-B

Those issues are common to those molds, not because they're BotCon toys.

I actually thought about that CP. And I looked at my original Cyb Sideways, E Landquake & E Landmine. Near as I can tell no peg and hole issues on my Energon releases of the Landshark mold. And my Cybertron Sideways does not have the droopy shoulder syndrome. I have been thinking that maybe those molds are starting to degrade and perhaps that is why I have the issues with my figures that I do. :-?
