Part swap is fine. Just recieved another reputed ko and a loose original HA Barricade. I'm now fully convinced that these are NOT ko's! Everything is identical and fits perfectly. I'm going with either "fell off the back of a truck" stock or plain and simple overstock. I'd be more worried about collectors paying $100 plus for a HA Barricade! Rediculous. It's not rare, and never was made in limited numbers. It is by no means a "Limited Edition"!

Hi,
I am from the Netherlands and i want to buy 2 reasonably cheap human alliance figures Sideswipe and Barricade, together they cost 90 euro's but here in the Netherlands we don't pay as much for the expensive figures. My question is if there is a way of finding the difference between the original and the KO because i don't want to be ripped off. :BOT:
Thanks.

First of all, welcome! I'm not sure if we actually do this anymore, but I always loved it:

Warning: Seibertron may contain nuts!

(I'm one, by the way.)

In looking at this thread, perusing threads in other forums, and looking at some pictures, there may not really be a way tell the difference, even with both in hand. The speculation has been that maybe the units are overstock from Has/Tak or perhaps stolen. The other option is that the KO is so good as to be indistinguishable from the original.

If this latter is true, it is the one thing I really hate about KOs. To me, a KO should be obvious, poorer quality, and noted by some packaging cue. Something like this, if not real, becomes a counterfeit. It is pretending to be the real thing to fool people into believing that it is the real thing. KOs, when obvious make be feel queasy. KOs that are made to look just like the original to fool people who want the original make me mad. (I had an issue with Encore Metroplex a number of years ago when I got one that appeared to be a KO and the store I bought from got snippy with me.)

So, now that I went on for a novel, the short answer is that it may not be possible to tell the difference. It may come down to just how much you want the figure. If you are not going to keep him MISB and just want to play with him, then it may not matter much. If you plan on keeping him or selling him at a later time? Then it makes it more of a risk.

Heck, I have MISB Leadfoot and Baracade that I was hoping to sell at some point here coming up. With these KOs about, I may never get top value for mine. I know I bought them from Target on clearance. But any buyers would have to trust me, and that's hard to do on the Internets...
