You didnt have it graded by a professional? What then is this "a.f.a." you speak of? Are you speaking of the action figure association? "A group of people that fancy themselves professionals at what they do"? What they do of course is offer "a grading system to help you accurately grade your figures and deduce their worth" and "protect your investment for years to come"....Sounds like you certainly DID look into grading your figures using system devised by professionals to find out what theyre worth. So once again Im correct.
Also wondering what you ment by "collecting or whatever you call it"? I buy figures I like from a certain line and keep them for display. Im pretty sure that qualifies as collecting.
Granted I may not have 50 years in it. Im certainly not among the elite collectors like you right?
I still have alot of fun with it and I only buy the ones I want. I will never buy a figure, or figures simply to complete a series. Thats my perogative and is no less collecting than what you do sir.
Now stop tryinbg to save face by having the last word. You are just digging a larger hole to climb out of.
boy you are dense... reread it... i had it graded by a proffessional... BUT I DIDNT DO IT TO KNOW THE VALUE. IF ANYTHING IT INCREASED MY VALUE, i did it to protect my investment... i also have them all insured, but i guess youll say that is so i know the value... man you are a jerk off and now you are just trying to get me aggravated taking my words out of context. **** you.

I don't know him from a bar of soap. While some of is responses have been a little obnoxious he only asked an innocent question and you had a go at him about it and accused him of having ulterior motives.
Yes he bated you, but after saying you felt this argument was over you continued to post, and you took a swipe at this guy in another thread. Enough is enough just drop it and move on, we are all collectors and are here to help each other.

I'm surprised we don't have a thread with our communities best guesses on figure worth/value/retail price, or do we and I just haven't stumbled upon it.

No idea, would there be one in the Buy, Sell or Trade forum?

I have long wanted to start a comprehensive pricing guide for transformers... but making it work for all countries and cover all the figures in their homeland and imported value is just too much of an undertaking for me to do alone... if i could get 7 - 10 people to help out, i may do it.

I'd be happy to help where I can, but not really that up to date on the subject. I just buy things at a price that seems okay at the time.

anyone that wants to help pm or email me... experience or not i can show you how to look these things up and be a to formulate what i call the expected price. one step at a time, this project will take more than a year to do correctly.
i will be starting a new thread in the coming weeks about this... i have to do some work up front to make it easy for everyone to contribute.

I'll be studying full-time soon, so my time will be limited. I'll keep an eye out for the thread and help any way I can.

PM robofreak. I'm on lunch!
For once we might've grown up and sorted it ourselves
So my plan worked. I don't do anything, and either they keep going and we let "The Bishop" loose on them, or they get it out of their system.
Either way, I win by doing nothing.

A priceguise is a pile of doggydoo-doo. What if people start to take it seriously? Say goodbye to all our nice GEEWUN bagains.

The only really hard part, after we have an initial base line , will be keeping track of the price swings of recent and semi recent figures. The further back we go the more consistent the changes in value should be.

Valid points. I'd like to be able to access a database as such. Difficult, but not impossible

Problem with a price guide is the market fluctuates too much and too quickly. You want to know what your figure is 'probably worth', check the recent completed eBay listings to get an idea.
PS, was the '**** you' a site censor or an intentional censor?

Seeing as some people get their knickers in a knot because they don't like it when I lock threads when a flamewar is either ready to erupt or well in progress, and because I'm sick and tired of waking up to find numerous pm's from people complaining about the people that are complaining about them, I have decided to waste my time (did I mention I'm on a three day weekend and have lots of personal stuff to do? hmmm ...) and split this topic up and removed the crap off-topic attacks from the last few pages (I'm not going back to the start).
In other words, I've spent a lot of time cleaning up a mess.
So this is what's going to happen.
There's a very good discussion going on in this thread. Keep it going. If I see ONE post, JUST ONE where someone is attacking someone else. This thread WILL be locked again and warnings issued to anyone who attacks another member.

Another question I think that needs to be raised is what kind of support could we expect from the website itself? Would we need to bug the mods every time we need to make a change because this list will be long, so I don't think posting the entire thing again and again will be feasible. If we could get a dedicated mod for this project(if it moves forward) It would make some of the work easier.

I agree. Baby steps, perhaps start with everything from the last movie onwards? It would be a worthy addition to the website
