How much a modern figure is worth is really hard to figure out in my experience. You'll have people say you're classics Ironhide is worth 10 dollars (people that have brought it at retail) then you'll have people that would buy it on ebay because they missed it for $50. So what is it really worth? I myself am a little late to the game on Ironhide and brought him on ebay for $36 MOSC shipped about 2 years ago. I've since sold him on ebay in the summer MOC for $32 bucks when Igear Ironhide came out (so market for the classics version dropped) which I then grabbed a henkei version for $50 shipped.
As you can see from this example that pricing on modern figures all depends on what else is out there, is there a better version of it? is third party making a better toy? So its all timing. Like Fort Max and its reissue coming out.

hope this helps.

Oh good god sky warp ghost! I think I must have laid your girl in a past life. You have had a smart ass comment for me after every post I have made so far. You wanna know why I want a price for my toys?
I have a secret plan to sell high and take over the world with the proceeds mua ha ha ha ha!!!! :ic$:
If youd like the real answer to your question refer to the original post.
Also, I took the liberty of notifying the mods and letting them know your acting like a douche. Take care. ;)

and i reported you for your offensive anguage and tone. and i still have the question... why are you doing this? and how much is your collection worht? less than you paid for it im sure... :-P

Report away my friend! We can just all be some reportin fools!!
ALL our collections are worth less than we paid for em. Especially if you open them up! If you honestly cant understand wanting to know what your collection is worth just to be able to say "I have a collection that is worth x amount" then Im not going to further waste my time.
I dont feel I need to go into such great detail about something so trivial and be treated as if I have some weird alterior agenda here. I mean are you guys serious?

boy you dont know what you are talking about... i have an entire set of g1 jap, usa, and uk... some afa graded... all with original boxes. plus all my energon, unicron trilogy, rid, prid, beast wars, beast machines, gen2 machine wars, chug, action masters, etc etc. i know for a fact my collection is worth 3x - 5x what i orginally paid for. now open mouth and insert foot... you must be a newbie collector... well i have been collecting since 1984!!!

I certainly am a newbie collector. Is there supposed to be some shame in that? ROTFLMFAO! You act as if you have earned some prestigious rank among the gods for collecting since the 80s and playing with toys for 40 yrs.
Of course there are figure that appreciate with time. Lots of people collect specific things and keep them until the value raises.
I however was referring to the newer figs That I collect depreciating the second you buy them and open em up. Ya know, since those were the figures you were talking about when trying to make me feel bad by saying I overpaid? It didnt work by the way.
Im well aware there are people like you that would probably spend 1000 plus bucks to acquire a single figure that 20 yrs ago retailed for 15 bucks.
I also notice that you say your collection is worth more than you paid. 3 to 5 times right? your words. Well, How do you know that? Its almost like you looked into it...made a point to find out how much your collection is worth vs what you have in them... Maybe did some research...exactly like I am doing here....mh..wow.
So I suppose this is my cue to now heckle you and ask why you looked into how much your collection is worth right? Now who has a foot in their mouth? ;)

no my collection was afa graded and i know exactly whats it worth. and you are exactly the reason people hate newbies... you come in and start arguing with people... have a little respect for your elders. i am not the only person you have argued with in your own thread... you njumped all over another person for asking why you want to know this information, effectively from that point dereailing your own thread. ive stopped following this topic, so say whatever the hell you like, its of no consequence to me. i have the satisfaction of disposable income, have a good day at work....

I love how you say "NO" as in No I didnt seek nto find out how much my toys are worth but then go on to say how you had it graded by some toy pro or whatever effectively contradicting yourself and highlighting my point that you have went so far as to find out what your lil collection is worth while desperately trying to make me feel stupid for seeking the same info on my collection. point made.
As for income lol. I am an R.N. as is my wife. If I REALLY needed extra cash I have a father working his 37th year at ford and a step mother that is a dentist, but since I am not stupid with money I dont make a habbit of asking anyone for anything.
Then theres my inlaws. a mother that is an r.n. and father that has worked at toyota for several decades.
Family is great but I simply have plenty of disposable income on my own and will never blow it o silly things. Not sure what your government checks had to do with anything or why you look to make people believe you to be rich but its pretty juvenile. So there is your rebuttal sport. :D
I Also wanna thank you for wishing me well at work. I will as always enjoy my day at work and for that very reason its not really work at all now is it? :P
Now that I have gotten the better of you on two consecutive posts and exposed you for a hypocrite I believe I will rest my case.
finally If youd like my respect or anyone elses you might try giving a bit of respect first. Seeing as how you have barely more posts than me but still manage to acquire a buttload of negative feedback and complaints against you in the mod forum Id say you have lots of trouble. luckily that means your not long for this sight.
Just incase im not there to wish you happy trails when the time comes id like to bid you a preemptive Good bye!

This makes sense and is pretty much the problem I was having while trying to put a worth to my collection. It didnt make it any easier when being accused of having sinister alterior motives for seeking out what my figs are worth either.
Im pretty sure I got alot of the modern figures that like you said I missed out on and so had to pay inflated prices for. Iron hide to use your example costed me 25 dollars lkoose but was in a slew of ironhide figures ranging from 50 all the way to 100 bucks! gross!
Then I got prowl galvatron ratchet both classics voyager megs and prime and a whole mess of others in the same scenario. Cheapest on ebay that I had seen by far.
That was as, as you also said, why bI reached out to find help with a price and finally got a few decent answers among a slew of....Im not even sure what the accusations were exactly but I sense alot of ignorant hate for "newbie" collectors. LOL some people yeah!
Thanks man!

You didnt have it graded by a professional? What then is this "a.f.a." you speak of? Are you speaking of the action figure association? "A group of people that fancy themselves professionals at what they do"? What they do of course is offer "a grading system to help you accurately grade your figures and deduce their worth" and "protect your investment for years to come"....Sounds like you certainly DID look into grading your figures using system devised by professionals to find out what theyre worth. So once again Im correct.
Also wondering what you ment by "collecting or whatever you call it"? I buy figures I like from a certain line and keep them for display. Im pretty sure that qualifies as collecting.
Granted I may not have 50 years in it. Im certainly not among the elite collectors like you right? ;)
I still have alot of fun with it and I only buy the ones I want. I will never buy a figure, or figures simply to complete a series. Thats my perogative and is no less collecting than what you do sir.
Now stop tryinbg to save face by having the last word. You are just digging a larger hole to climb out of.

boy you are dense... reread it... i had it graded by a proffessional... BUT I DIDNT DO IT TO KNOW THE VALUE. IF ANYTHING IT INCREASED MY VALUE, i did it to protect my investment... i also have them all insured, but i guess youll say that is so i know the value... man you are a jerk off and now you are just trying to get me aggravated taking my words out of context. **** you.

I don't know him from a bar of soap. While some of is responses have been a little obnoxious he only asked an innocent question and you had a go at him about it and accused him of having ulterior motives.

Yes he bated you, but after saying you felt this argument was over you continued to post, and you took a swipe at this guy in another thread. Enough is enough just drop it and move on, we are all collectors and are here to help each other.
