My default recommendation for any new player is an available or NPC member of a combiner team.
They're canons. A lot of them are good starter characters. Most all of them have been used in the game somewhere so there's a drop off point that you can pick up with in your own way. And they have a small group of players already built-in to interact with.
It can be difficult to get rolling in a game like this and find your sea legs (it was for me, at least). Going that route at least makes it somewhat easier.

The biggest thing you have to remember with the gestalt\special teams is only two gestalts are now in the game officially. Monstructor and Devestator are the only two with Monstructor being the only one who has shown up. Devestator is "made" but has yet to show up in the story. If you do decide on a special team member, go to the roll call list and see who leads each team. Then you can PM the player if you need help figuring out where the team is at. Maybe the mods can somehow indicate who are the team leaders for those who are totally unfamiliar with the G1 universe. Usually the leaders are on the top of the group list.

Hmmm...Would Blast-Off be available as a character then?
I could get behind playing a Combaticon, and I can definitely do arrogant

Got my response. We're good to go on that end. I just need to get a bio and sample post together, and he should be good to go.

Okay, I've got my intro for Blast Off Posted. If possible, I could use a medic to recover his body. Who's doing repairs for the Con side?

You have Ratchet and First Aid doing repairs and Groove doing med recon. I probably will also have Blades do a bit of recon as much as he wants to get into the fight.

It'd be hilarious to have the Protectobots save a Combaticon. Gotta love the ironies of this fight

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this yet, but while going back to read previous posts in the Lake of Fire thread, I've seen portions of people's posting getting deleted. It seems to be happening between the >> << symbols where we signify transmissions. If there's more than one transmission in a post, everything between those transmissions gets deleted and the double >> gets reduced to one >.
This has happened to at least three of my prior posts in Lake of Fire, which I've since fixed, and I've seen it with a couple of Foxfire's and Sid's. There's probably more. I think it might have something to do with the recent update to the site that added the quick reply button. Posts made before the update are what's affected. Not sure if this is happening across all threads as I haven't had a chance to go back to those yet. Just wanted to let everyone know in case it affects other players' responses.
Here's a couple of examples of what I'm referring to. You can tell the transmissions are getting messed up.

Okay, now that life has quit giving me nasty surprises--not having the Internet in nearly two months being one of them--I think it's time I got caught up again. So for what it's worth, I'll have some posts good to go as soon as possible.

Hey Drop Bear, good to see you again. You might want to chat with mods about your characters since you been gone so long. I've been NPCing Blades some in the fight against the Fallen and his goons.

Just telling people, I still exist. I'm just awaiting something for Trailbreaker, as my last post had his shield deactivated (leavings the bots unprotected)
I'm also waiting to see if Spinister will ever get something. Though, I might have to make up something for him in case nothing happens.

You are doing a fine job with Air Raid. Sadly the Aerialbots aren't doing much against the Fallen but hardly anyone has yet.

Good to thing to know.
Right now, I am more concerned with Spinister. I will have to make up something for him.

You do have to interject them sometimes, until they find their flow, either with a specific character, a group or some cool idea strikes that will entertain you by yourself to explore until he does run across other characters to specifically develop material with.
If you have him bump into one of my lower level lads, I can probably help get the ball rolling.

Except I don't have control of Punch..err..Counterpuch. But wait! You have control of him, right?
I will just prep a post in which he asks Counterpunch something. I will also be checking for Air Raid/Trailbreaker.
Post coming tomorrow (hopefully)

Alright guys. I think it's time I explain just why I've been MIA as of late.
I think you all know that I am certified as an Les Mills RPM instructor. Since then I have been doing a lot of subbing. Usually twice a week. And that's on top of the training I've been doing. Which I do twice a day , 2 hours each time, for 6 days a week.
And to add to any subbing I do I just got my own class Monday nights (been waiting for my own class since becoming certified).
Along with my teaching and subbing I will begin training for Les Mills Bodypump in September. Initial training is 2 weekend days 8 hours a day at which time I'll need to present two tracks. When I pass I have a month to send in a full video of me teaching a class for assessment.
On top of the training I still have new routines to learn for RPM. Plus school is starting for my daughter along with her dance classes.
So as you can see things have been hectic. But it's a good hectic.
And I do have a post in the works...it's been in the works for a week or so but at least it's something.
So I apologize for my absence.

No worries! Ember. Real Life is a lot more important then what we got here in this website concerning giant transforming sentient robots fighting a war in outer space.
Though, that's still a lot of work to do. Hopefully for the better.
