Courtesy of TFW2005's Sidecutter (aka Captured Prey) a third-party (possibly CHMS) cage for Ravage. You know, to reenact that scene from G1's MTMTE pilot story arc. Price would be approx 40.00, ouch!

Actually kind of cool. Not $40 dollars cool but would be neat to display Ravage captured with my Autobots.

See this right here? This is that line crossing crap that makes me think the 3rd party should have a bouncer on the door. :BLACKEYE: This is the sh!t that Ryan says isn't worth cluttering the front page with. Serious consideration should be given to what even possessed them to make this thing.

Actually, I think stuff like this is just fine. It doesn't even remotely infringe on anything and enhances an existing figure.

But that's just my opinion. Personally, it was all the Maketoy Devy and TFC Devy news items every 5 minutes that were getting on my nerves. There were WAY too many of those, every time a new image was posted or anything.

This is pretty irrelevant.

I mean, between this and the Unicron eyeball from Dr, Wu, I think we've hit the rock bottom of what 3rd party makers can offer.

I mean, let's take stock of soem props we've got.

- Beast Wars Golden Disks
- The Allspark (both movie and animated)
- Vector Sigma
- Varius weapons ranging from simple single-piece guns, to light up weapons, to ones that can split apart into one huge ass sword.
- A coronation set for Starscream (classics and MP)

and we have the other side of the spectrum...

- a cage
- Unicron's eyeball
- a plastic box that vaguely simulates his becoming invisible (Gear of War set #1 for those keeping score)

Compared to what we've seen before this definatelty falls into the lame category.

I'm more impressed with the number of pictures taken to showcase ... a cage.

I was referring to the unnecessary crap cluttering the news feed. It's very hard to say that this is an enhancement to an existing figure though. Unless Ravage has a safeword like "banana".

The Mirage invisibility box was a free extra in the Gear of War box, nobody knew it existed before opening the box, so I wouldn't say it should count.

But yea this is pretty pointless, especially for this price. The price does say CHMS, but the fact that it's not a KO of an existing figure tells me otherwise.

Well, the GoW box does show Mirage doing his invisibility thing and it's really not "free" since I really doubt it was free to make; whatever cost went into it's production went towards the price of the whole.

It's just that nobody cared about it or talked about it. And even TFC seemed to recognize it as the weakest part of the set since there wasn't any promotion of it. But it was in the set, so it counts.

Yea free was a stupid choice of words, but it doesn't change that it was never advertised and came as a surprise since everybody bought the set for the Missile launchers, the Inferno gun thing and the cassette.
And even if it did count, that was part of a larger set with stuff for multiple figures, while this would come on it's own.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

As I see it, it's a product made to support a figure, like all the other props. And it fails miserably, and is probably even worse than this cage. The GoW set is decent enough, but that aspect of it falls flat on it's face.

I could easily see people purchasing this. It's a great idea for a display. Heck, that's the reason those Ark sets sold so well (and are in HIGH demand now from what I hear).

This may not be as central of an item to TF history as the inside of the Ark, but it's still something we all remember from the only episode of G1 where Ravage ever speaks (when he is played back through Soundwave in tape form after being allowed to escape).

Well, this is... 40 bucks for a cage.

Bottom of the barrel? No, this is under the barrel!

I actually think this is kinda neat...until you look at the price tag, then it becomes a fukkin' joke. To me, that's the problem with the amount of 3rd Party product, the costs are just too ridiculous. I understand the costs have got to be higher, but at the same time, I don't think these guys need to get rich doing it. Do it for the love of the hobby, cover your costs, and maybe even enough to buy a few more figs for your collection. Of course once the retailers get them and automatically double the price, that doesn't help matters any either...

Agreed. I think nifty, unique items like this are awesome and great for displays and enhancing legit Has/Tak products (as opposed to attempting to one-up or replace them).

I also agree on the price issue. Come on CHMS, it's a frickin' little cage and a teeny tiny key. That is NOT worth $40. Price=FAIL big time.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, but way over priced. If there was a props set for the same sort of price, with this cage, maybe some other random bits and pieces (like the Dr Wu eyeball, or maybe a Metroplex Transforming cog, a Psychoprobe, Quintesson Journal, that sort of pointless stuff) then maybe, maybe it'd be worth it to some people.

I'd be more inclined to buy more weapon packs though, the GOW and iGear Kup and Perceptor guns case looked pretty cool.

Oh it is, if you buy the limited Collectors Toy of the Year edition for 150 dollars.

Indeed. I suspect they were going to scrap the project until they found out about MP Ravage, which might generate more sales for them for this rather specialty item.

I would rather see CHMS focus on what they do best: doing repaints Hasbro wont do.

* Dead End from RTS Jazz mold

* G2 Drag Strip from classics Mirage Mold

* Marlboro Wheeljack from Generations Wheeljack mold

* Diaclone Mirage from classics Mirage mold

* Classics G2 Sideswipe for everybody

Screw the stupid cage...
