No TFs from other people this year, my family and I don't exchange big gifts. For myself however, I did finally pick up the TRU MP Rodimus Prime that I've been wanting for some time now. Also the FansProject X-1 is hitting the online stores so my pre-order got funded. Lastly, I found a mint, loose complete Armada Unicron for 40$ at a local store. Not bad for X-mas week :)

Oh, yeah, how could I forget Art of FoC? Absolutely beautiful and inspiring stuff. I just wish we could have an art of WfC and a book with the movie trilogy's production art. Speaking of which, got those on Blu Ray, too.

Just got the 4 Beast Hunter Deluxes.

Man what a DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!

Overall the gaudy colors, cheap plastic and even cheaper construction make these feel more like Big Lots knock offs than actual Hasbro releases.

Soundwave is the worst offender. His garish colors just scream fail. The pics looked pretty bad, but in hand it seems worse.
As tough as his PRID release can be to line up during transform, this is pretty much impossible, and it is a direct result of cheap plastic.

Most of the pics I've seen online in reviews and whatnot have the same issues I did. He just doesn't want to snap together.

Laserback suffers from the same loud color pallet, but without seeing him onscreen, I can't yet know if this is show accurate. That being said, the above mentioned cheap construction, and crappy plastic still make him feel more like a "Super Awesome Robot" than a real release.

Image

The Autobots fare a little bit better, but if you have the original releases you can spot the cutbacks immediately.

Anywhere that used clear plastic are gone, in most cases this means lights and windows that were originally 2 parts are now 1 solid piece with paint apps (maybe).

Worse off are the wheels. Where we are used to seeing pins holding on the wheels, we now have press fit clips. These are MUCH easier to break than the traditional pins, and just scream of the degrading quality.

Both WJ and BB are ill fitting in alt mode, but for mine, Bee fares worse here.

I was eventually able to get WJ to snap together correctly, but Bee's rear windows never did quite line up with the trunk area to snap together. It leaves a bit of a gap in alt mode.

And for this I paid an extra buck or so apiece over figs a year ago.

Price up, quality down.
Hasbro's gonna kill themselves in their own market.

I'm for sure not buying voyager Optimus, and probably not the dragon either.

It is painful to see garbage like this on the same shelf with FE Optimus and Cliffjumper, and the RTS Jazz mold (as Wheelie) which were all SUPER solid, well executed figures.

No argument about the colors, but what's wrong with the panel-lining?

Laserback suffers from the same loud color pallet, but without seeing him onscreen, I can't yet know if this is show accurate.

1) Lazerback. With a Z. Come on, guys. It's right there on the box!

2) Assuming he's an in-show Pred?

Hasbro's gonna kill themselves in their own market.

Blame Hasbro for the quality, not the prices.

and probably not the dragon either.

Predaking. :BANG_HEAD:

The FEs also have cheap plastic compared to lines before it.

Picked up a G1 Fortress Maximus as a present for myself. Why did I get 1, considering the encore is on the way? Because I wanted an original. I had to sell my other 1 8 years ago in order to avoid becoming homeless. I've wanted 1 ever since. It's missing the smaller accessories like the radar dish, Scamper, and Cerebros's gun, as well as bigger pieces like Spike, gun, and the arm ramps, but it was $300 shipped, so I can pick up Spike and the gun. I already have a Master Sword for him. :) I don't need the useless kibble of the ramps and Scamper. So I'm content with my purchase.

Nice, but Scamper comes with Metroplex, not Fort Max.

Oh. Well, you know what I'm talking about. That little guy that splits into 2 parts. I don't even know the name, that's how little I care about it. :P

(Not sure if I posted here already, memory is failing. )

Got these while in Korea:
AM Orion
United Black Convoy
DOTM Dark Energon Megatron

The only TF gift i got was Prid Wheeljack and Rumble, only cause I'm still a half-decent age to go to TRU and pick out my gifts.

FOC Wave 3 released here a few days after Christmas, picked up a Starscream for 20% off, I guess that counts too. :D

And I still have a $50 TRU voucher.

A bit late, but I didn't know where to put this. Thankfully, a surprise christmas gift from a certain sneaky Brit made the decisions for me. As such, after a trip to Amsterdam:

Xmas2012Haul.jpg
And all was good... until they're released. :3

Bought by me:
AM-28 Leo Prime
AM-26 Smokescreen

Courtesy of Va'al:
PCC Mudslinger with Destructicons

And the surprise by Pretender Skywarp:
Shining B.2

I had my sights on Leo Prime for a good while, and on Silas Breakdown as well. But when I unexpectedly saw Smokescreen in the store... Yoink! Sorry Breakdown, maybe next time. Blame my love for the Smokescreen character.
With Grimstone and Mudslinger down I'm now 2 5-packs and 2 2-packs away from PPC completion :D And Shining B.2... totally unexpected. Arrived on the same day as Mudslinger, while sent from a different location. Go figure

Overall, this bunny is happy. :x

So if the opportunity is there, sometimes, just sometimes, I cant help myself...?
:CON:
Over the holiday period I saw these guys and, as I have waited and missed out many a time before, felt grabbing these now just in case they never return or the price goes up, would be the best thing to do?

I have mentioned my dislike of the colours, and combined mode is questionable, but....

I didn't like these guys at first either, but once they are in hand they are rather good. The limbs are especially fun with all the different options available.

Be careful with Brawl's cannon tho, the piece of black plastic that it is connected to can be kinda fragile. Mine broke in one spot (probably because of how much I've transformed him) so now I have to be very careful with him :-(

Yeah, no regrets whatsoever. In fact, the G2 set is in my PoL atm, that's how much they won me over :D
