I am sure this topic would have come up as it is so sad and a tragedy for those unsuspecting people..
Feel free to discuss it here HOWEVER keep it civil and no "avengers fan" comments like I saw on another website..

Crazy.

My wife left the TV on when she left for work this morning. She sent me a text saying "sorry I left the TV on... wanted to make sure you saw the news on how f*#ked up some people can be". There's no doubt in my mind that she sent that with tears in her eyes.

Yeah it is really sad.. What in the hell motivates someone to do something like this. My wife and I talked about it how through the years we have attended our share of midnight screenings and even my 19 year old daughter has been to a couple.. Scary but we cannot stop doing what we do and let the criminals win.. You could be in a grocery store and someone walks in with a gun.. You never know..

it's hard to say sometimes why people crack, just that they do. at least they seem to have caught the guy, would be a shame if he had been able to continue.
Wrestling is just a male soap opera, though less believable.

I just read about it. It's insane, it's hard to comprehend it even being real. I think he was actually trying to be a Batman villain, he even had his apartment rigged with explosives, apparently they've evacuated the building and Hazmat's working on it.

And what's even crazier is that he wasn't just some nutjob who snapped his last snap and went on a rampage, he was getting his PhD in neuroscience, that's not the kind of thing stupid crazy people get to do.

I saw this crap all on the news today, all day long. It's just rediculous. The guy was strapped, how the hell didn't anyone notice a guy with big ass guns walking into the theater!? I went to the midnight show last night, and my theater has officers guarding doors and whatnot, so how did they not notice this guy?

It sounds some shit the Joker would pull too. Tear gas, shooting into the crowds, killing people. I think he just wanted to be someone important. He obviously planned this for a long ass time and he succeeded. I bet all he wanted to do was to be noticed, and have his name known throughout the world; and we're just giving him just what he wants. Screw this.

He didn't go in through the front. And even so, most theaters don't have armed guards.

He was getting a PhD in neuroscience, it's not like he was just some nobody. Also, completely ignoring incidents like this isn't going to make them go away. The best thing we can do is let him know what a goddamn monster he became.

Still, I'm very interested in learning why he did this. I don't think it was something as simple as a desire for fame or infamy, or just being a nutjob.

I heard that he was possibly a disgruntled ex employee of the theater. But I want to know exactly why he did it too.

I have been reading reports that WB may pull the movie and release it again in a few weeks..
It is just talk right now though as nothing has been decided on.

I can see his defense now.

He was undertaking a thesis for his studies and was using Heath Ledger's Joker as the subject and how many feel he immersed himself into the role so deeply that it caused him to die, thus he undertook this study to "get in the frame of mind" to see if induced any suicidal tendencies of his own.

At the end of the day, he'll go with the insanity route.
