I wrote:It was good, but it lacked a bunch of things. Namely replay value. Once you go through the entire game, what was there? Collecting of coins and tokens which give you what in the end? Diddly. Then you swing around and beat up thugs, then swing around and beat up people breaking into a rooftop door. Then you swing around and do a spidey race, then, oh look, more thugs. The only thing that was unlockable were upgrades for spider-man, wow I can make Spider-man swing a little faster, yay?
It got boring quick. There were no unlockables. The cool thing was the staggering size and detail of the environment, how well it flowed together.
It marked a huge leap from the first Spider-man Movie game, which really was a Spider-man 64 port updated. But it still wasn't a really great movie game. Thankfully Ultimate Spider-man, while on a smaller scale and basically the same game, gave some unlockables and extras for completing the game among other things.
