Cybertron Shockwave

I felt he deserved something better than a Minicon.

It was a fun weekend project. Made the head out of styrene, added a grill and made a cannon out of resin.

 I was at Walmart Saturday morning and they had a bunch of RA's. I looked at the back of the package and inspiration hit. I can't wait to see how you make yours.

Thanks for the compliments!

The hand cannon. It's pretty much a copy of RA's and I used clear resin tinted purple. I got it a little darker than I wanted.

It mainly did it to practice repoing complex parts like that. I used a clay mould and basically made it in halves. Put the two halves together and it's a part. It didn't turn out too bad IMO.

Yours is probably going to be alot better looking than mine. I do agree with you about the looking at the back of the package and being inspired though, that was exactly the same with me, one glance at that left hand and I knew what had to be done!

Oh, how rude of me, I keep forgetting to say that it is a very sweet conversion, and I just hope that mine comes anywhere close to being as cool as yours! :D

I think the head looks a tad tall and the top edge too narrow. as if Shockwave could look surprised.
and the color looks a little too light and blue, although that's up to interpretation.
also, my favorite secondary color of Shockwave is red. or was it orange. or red and orange. actionmaster shockwave had orange. hm. Micron Shockwave had orange. it was probably orange.
still looks pretty good.

Actually, I made the head like that for a reason. I thought it would be cool if the top part of the head (above the eye) stuck out of the roof to give the impression of a hood scoop. I think it worked.

As for the color, I agree with you. It's Krylon Fusion and the only purple color I could find. I think it's a bit light as well. The camera seems to fad it a bit beacause it is actually a bit darker than the picture, but not much.

Thanks for the compliments!

Cybertron Shockwave

Postby Dark_Fool » Thu Dec 22, 2005 2:32 pm

For some reason when I was just looking at your gallery, the side shots of the vehicle mode made me think of a hearse. Anyone else get that impression?? I think it's just the length of the vehicle or something.

Probably the length combined with the dark coloration... But oh well. It actually fits Shockwave well while also being totally contradictory to his cold and logical nature. Lol

All in all I like it... :D

I would have chosen yellow for the eye, but that's just me.

Other than that, this looks awesome. I love the Cybertron RA mold and you sir have made something truly amazing out of it. Kudos!

Great custom. I like the overall look of the repainted vehicle mode. An excellent bot mode too!
